Sunday, August 1, 1982: Up at 7:55. Tel. woke me again (Jay). Sunny, cool. Not quite so hot today – low 90s. Cloudy off & on. Got breakfast, cleared table. Jan irrigating so got the water from her & we irrigated, too. Glad that’s done. Took shower, washed & put up my hair. Was drying it & working x-word when Matt & Megan came & brought us our souvenirs. Me a bell and Daddy some playing cards. Stayed a while and I had Linda come over & try on her dress. Fits fine. As they were leaving Carla & Bill came & stayed a while. Left about 5:30. After they left I got supper. Did dishes, finished x-word, watched TV. Went down & finished Linda’s dress. To bed at 12:10.
Monday, August 2, 1982: Up at 7:45. Sunny, cool. Wind came up last night & got lots cooler. Washed & dressed. Tried to call bookkeeper but he’s out of town so will have to wait until tomorrow. Went over to Linda’s but couldn’t make anything out of the IRS instructions on that worksheet. When I got home, Dad called & said he was going fishing so got his clothes, etc., ready. Got lunch, cleared table, took a little nap. Afterwards rinsed dishes, changed our bed, washed sheets, watered S. flower bed & one under tree. Had supper. Read paper. Watered flowers on patio, started to clean out iris bed. Read Sun. paper & watched TV. Vacuumed & shampooed half of kitchen. To bed at 1:00.
Tuesday, August 3, 1982: Up at 8:45. Sunny, cool. Got really cool last night. Washed & dressed. Had toast, etc. Got ready to go down to bookkeeper. Tel. kept ringing. Vacuumed shampooed floor. Saw bookkeeper, then had lunch w/Linda & kids at Red Steer. Pd. Jay’s water bill, went to Kings, Super Save, then bank. Put away groc., took little nap. Got in paint equip. Started working on pink bedroom. Had supper. Rinsed dishes. Finished cleaning out iris bed. Vacuumed & shampooed rest of kitchen & part of dining room. Read papers, watched TV. To bed at 12:45.
Wednesday, August 4, 1982: Up at 8:00. Sunny, cool. Dressed, had toast, etc., made bed. Vacuumed floors I shampooed last night. Started painting pink bedroom. Got all done except E wall, a little of ceiling corners, part of baseboard, & around doors & windows. Want to paint woodwork before I finish around doors & windows. Had lunch & supper. Put mirror up on w. wall & started putting other things back. Did dishes. Linda came over & made out checks. Dad got home between 8 & 9. Took shower & went to bed. I read part of paper, made up deposit, watched TV. To bed at 1:00. Not too hot today.
Thursday, August 5, 1982: Up at 7:50. Sunny, cool. Hot in P.M. again. 95° Took shower, dressed, made bed. Had toast & coffee. Got rest of stuff ready to go downtown. Left about 10:45 – getting pretty hot already. Went to Banks, P.W. Drug, Sears, Pd. Tel. Bill. Ate at Ky. Fried Chicken. Got groc. at Albertsons, then home (3:30). Took Linda & kids home, put away groc. Pretty soon Matt called & wanted to come over so he & then Megan both came. Played & watched TV. Got supper. Cleared up and then Megan & I looked through pennies – got her a series started so she has a good start – 1969 to 1980 (Ph), 1959D to 82D, 19__S to S. Finished looking through the ones I had counted & found some more for her. Did dishes about 10:00. Watched TV. To bed – 1:15.
Friday, August 6, 1982: Up at 8:17. Sunny, cool. Dressed, had toast & coffee. Made bed. Started working on painting again. Got east wall all done. Now just have trim around windows & part of baseboard to do. Then put room back in order. Got Dad’s lunch. Ate mine, then cleared up. Meg came over in afternoon to get her coin book – stayed a little while. Got supper, read paper, did dishes, watched TV. Washed chicken. To bed at 12:30.
Saturday, August 7, 1982: Up at 8:40. Sunny, warm. Dressed, had breakfast. Washed load of colored clothes. Worked on mop board in bedroom. Linda brought beans over & we washed them & started to can. Got 8 cookers (24 pts.) & some to eat for supper. Dried part of clothes, cleaned behind bed, fixed [?] fastened it to frame. Got supper. Did dishes, read papers, watched TV. To bed at 1:10. Meg came over with Xmas cards – I bought 2 boxes, gift wrap & calendar.
Sunday, August 8, 1982: Up at 8:20. Light sun, warm, humid. Dad on a cleaning binge today. Don’t feel too good – too hot, I guess. Got breakfast, cleared up & did dishes. Dried rest of clothes in washer. Took shower, washed & put up hair. Dried hair & worked x-word. Carla called – said she didn’t feel very well & might not come over. Called again later & still not feeling well. Has to come over tomorrow for dentist so will see us then. I made bed, cleaned off patio, finished water flowers on patio. Worked on mopboard in bedroom – will soon have it all done. Got supper, did dishes, dried some clothes, read papers, watched TV. To bed at 1:00.
Monday, August 9, 1982: Up at7:20 – woke up at 6:20 & couldn’t go back to sleep so finally got up. Sunny, cooler. Got hot in afternoon again. Worked on mopboard in pink bedroom. Dressed, had breakfast. Washed white rayons. Carla came from dentist about 9:30. Fixed us a crab salad for lunch. Got Dad’s lunch. She left soon after lunch. I did dishes, made bed. Cleaned spots off green rug. Moved furniture back in place, etc. Got supper, did dishes, read papers, watched TV. To bed at 12:20. Put underwear to soak.
Tuesday, August 10, 1982: Up at 7:45. Sunny, cool. Washed & dressed. Had toast & coffee. Got ready to go to dentist. Had no cavities & cleaned my teeth. Stopped at shop & then to Super Save. Stopped at fruit stand & got some beans. Got home in time to get some lunch for Dad. After lunch, cleared up, then took Linda’s beans over. Went over to house on corner & found out the coins came from coin shop in Nampa so will have to visit it some day & pick up some. When I got home, made bed & rested a little. Snapped beans until 4:00. Then went out & irrigated. Got done about 5:30. Fixed supper. Did dishes, snapped rest of beans. Read paper, washed load of underwear, watched TV. To bed at 12:10.
Wednesday, August 11, 1982: Marilyn’s birthday [60] Up at 8:45. Sunny, cooler. Dressed, had breakfast. Made bed. Dried underwear & washed drapes & table cover for pink bedroom. Finished painting in there except for a little bit of mopboard & trim around doors & windows. Got lunch. Cleared up & rinsed dishes. Washed & canned beans. Got 3 cookers (12 pts.) plus some for supper. Got supper, did dishes. Linda & Matt came over – showed us their pictures from Cascade & Seattle. Made up deposits, got stuff ready to go downtown tomorrow. Watched TV. To bed at 12:30. Had a storm & little rain in afternoon.
Thursday, August 12, 1982: Up at 8:00. Sunny, cooler. Beautiful day. Washed & dressed, got ready to go downtown. Had toast. Went to Rettig’s at 10:00, then to court house for licenses. Took them back to shop. Went to Sears, got order & some clothes, then to Albertsons for groc. Went to Bank, then P.W. Drug. Met Linda & kids at Coffee Cup for lunch, then came home. Put away groc., made bed. Looked at Catalog. Got supper, Meg & Matt came over. Decided they wanted to stay all night so said O.K. I did dishes, then got them settled in bed. Read paper & watched TV. To bed at 12:30.
Friday, August 13, 1982: Up at 8:15. Sunny, cool. Megan awake but Matt still sleeping. Started to get Meg’s breakfast and then Matt woke up so fed them both. Had my toast, etc. Dressed, worked at misc. jobs until the kids got dressed & went home. Made up their beds & straightened up family room. Started cleaning living room. Got lunch, did dishes, started new hooked rug. Finished living room, vacuumed kitchen, hall & bath. Have mopboard nearly finished in pink room. Tried to put new cover on toilet downstairs but it needs some fitting. Got supper, did dishes, read paper. Watched TV. To bed at 12:45.
Saturday, August 14, 1982: Up at 8:50. Sunny, cool. Hot in P.M. Dressed, made bed. Finished mop board on N. side of bedroom. Had breakfast. Cleaned & put up shades, washed curtain rods & put up one drape. Have to fix other rod bracket. Watered flower bed under tree & flowers on patio. Dad on cleaning binge again so had to help him. Got supper, did dishes, started working on books. Was 20.00 off but discovered Grahly not entered in ledger so that was it. Watched TV. To bed at 1:20. Called Marilyn today. Also Paula. Chris has a new baby boy.

Monday, August 16, 1982: Up at 8:20. Sunny, cool. Hot in P.M. Dressed, had toast, etc. Made bed. Called Linda. Started cleaning in dining room. Got lunch. Did dishes. Finished in dining area. Got supper, did dishes, Meg came over for their stuff; Ted came & got her (Finished up book work in A.M.). Shampooed rest of dining room carpet. Read paper, watched TV. To bed at 1:20.
Tuesday, August 17, 1982: Up at 9:00. Light sun, cool. Hot in P.M. Dressed, did a few odd jobs. Went out & irrigated; finished just before noon. Pulled a lot of weeds. Pulled dead flowers off sedum. Trimmed shrub so we can get behind house. Really got the back yard wet! Got lunch & had my brunch. Did dishes. Made bed, started shortening drapes for pink bedroom. Vacuumed carpet & put table back in place. Watered high spots in front lawn & S. of drive. Got supper, did dishes. Watered some flowers on patio & washed off patio. Went down & finished drapes. Read paper, watched TV. To bed at 1:00.
Wednesday, August 18, 1982: Up at 8:45. Sunny, warm. Took shower, dressed. Tied up sunflowers, also glads & chrysanthemums. Finished water flowers on patio. Made bed. Put up hair. Got lunch, cleared up table. Cleaned in new bath. Hung drapes in pink bedroom & hung up clothes on bed. Dad fixed pole for hammock today so I put it back in & put hammock on stand. Got supper, did dishes. Made up deposit, checked medicines. Looked at paper a little, watched TV. To bed at 1:30. Linda & Meg stopped to do checks.
Thursday, August 19, 1982: Up at 8:15. Sunny, cool. Washed & dressed. Got ready to go downtown. Picked up Dad & went to Rettigs. Took stuff down to M.H. & put Ins. form on steering column. After we finished at Rettigs I took bookwork to bookkeeper. Went to banks, P.W. Drug. Then to King’s & met Linda & kids at Sandwich Shop for lunch. Then went to Sears (ordered awnings), Albertsons for groc., then home. (Went to Super Save before bookkeeper). Put away groc., kids came over, also Kelly for a while. Made bed, Meg helped me. Got supper. Afterwards showed Meg how to sew a little; then Paula, Jim & friends came. Boys & Joe went to shop. Girls stayed here & we visited. Linda & Ted came. Ted went home to mow. After Paula & Jim left, Johnny came in a little – all went home about 9:00. I did dishes, watched TV. Tried to read paper but went to sleep for about 45 min. To bed at 1:00. Clouded over & rained after I went to bed.
Friday, August 20, 1982: 100° Up at 8:45. Sunny, cool. Got muggy & hot in afternoon. Dressed, made bed. Had coffee & toast. Started cleaning family room. Got lunch. Finished family room in afternoon. Got supper. Linda & Meg over in afternoon to get cooler for Matt & Ted’s camping trip. Finished clean east end of dining room & then shampooed that part of carpet & also in new bath. Did dishes, read paper, took nap. Watered S. flower bed. Watched TV. To bed at 1:00. Carla called in evening.
Saturday, August 21, 1982: Up at 9:00. Sunny, cooler. Still hot in P.M. Vacuumed new bath & put everything away. Same in dining room. Vacuumed living room, kitchen, our room (made bed) hall. Cleaned old bath. Straightened up more in pink room but not finished with it yet. (Had toast & coffee but no lunch.) Got supper. Carla called; then Paula – said they didn’t have to play ball tomorrow – so would come over & take us out to breakfast. I baked Dad’s cake. Took shower & washed my hair. Did dishes, read old papers. Watched TV. To bed at 12:30.
Sunday, August 22, 1982: Daddy’s birthday. Had a lovely day. Up at 8:15. Sunny, warm. Hot in afternoon. Washed & dressed, put up hair. Made bed. Dried hair & worked x-word. Got in meat for dinner. Swept out back utility. Finished vacuum pink bedroom & rest of hall. Paula & Jim came – said Linda & Ted were just ahead of them coming up hill. They called so went to breakfast with us. Went to V.I.P.s in Nampa & same deal as on Mother’s Day. Slow, poor service, waited on other table before us & food not too good. Last time for them. Linda & Ted went on to Boise. We drove out past our old place with Paula & Jim. When we got home, Paula iced cake & I fixed salad. Paula washed potatoes & fixed table. Carla & Bill came & then we fixed Paula & Jim’s dinner (they had to leave). Linda, Ted & kids about 7:00. I finished cleaning up, did dishes. Read paper. Watched TV. To bed at 1:20.
Monday, August 23, 1982: Up at 9:00 – Sunny, cool. About 90° in P.M. Dressed, made bed. Straightened up house, & put away dishes, etc. Watered flower bed under tree. Defrosted old refrig. Fixed lunch. Cleared up, read rest of papers. Cleaned chicken. Went down to wash clothes and found black widow under desk so started cleaning down there. Cleaned out her nest. Washed work clothes. Got supper – just broth, jello, etc., for Dad. Cleared up, did dishes. Worked on binding hooked rug. Dried clothes. Read papers, watched TV. To bed at 12:45.
Tuesday, August 24, 1982: Up at 8:10. Sam woke me about 5:30, got up about 6:00 to fix Dad’s enema, then went back to bed about 7:15. Sunny, cool. Dressed, got the water from Jan so irrigated. Cut a few roses & then worked on cement blocks on N. side of house. Got 2 put in, also one on N. side of iris bed. Transplanted a few iris. Got lunch, cleared up. Got ready to go downtown. Went to bookkeeper twice & he wasn’t in. Got awnings at Sears, groc. at S.S. & beans for Carla at fruit stand. Got supper, did dishes, then snapped beans & watched TV. To bed at 1:20. Went over to see Linda’s new lamp, really is pretty.
Wednesday, August 25, 1982: Up at 9:05. Sunny, cool. Hot in afternoon. 95° Dressed, had toast, etc. Started canning beans, got 22 pts. (1 didn’t seal), finished last cooker during supper. In between made bed, paid S.W.T. & Sales Tax. Got lunch, did dishes. Sewed a little on hooked rug binding. Read papers. Went out & worked on iris bed, transplanted more iris; have it nearly finished. Got supper, did dishes, Linda & Meg came over to do checks, left about 9:00. Watched “Faces of the 80s” Pageant. Miss Denmark won. Finished up dishes, put up my hair after supper, read paper, watched TV. To bed at 12:40.

Mabel called about tomatoes. Finally got ready to go down about 12:00. Went to Banks, to Sears, paid tel. bill, then to Kings. Met Linda & kids at McDonald’s for lunch. Had Chicken McNuggets. From there went to Home Fed., P.W. Drug, then to Albertsons & home (3:30). Put away groc., etc. Got supper, kids didn’t come tonight. Went out to dinner with Laura & Ted’s folks for their Anniv. & Ted’s Dad’s birthday. Did dishes, watched TV, read paper. To bed 1:40.
Friday, August 27, 1982: 90° Up at 8:20. Sunny, cool. Hot again in afternoon. Dressed, made bed, had toast, etc. Vacuumed living room. Worked on bath access. – put on new lid cover (put ties on it) & fitted tank cover. Got lunch, cleared up. Took short nap. Dad went to Dr. again – everything about the same. Had stricture so gave him treatment for that; examined inside of bladder – no tumors. I vacuumed kitchen, sewed a little more. Watered flower beds & flowers on patio. Made nectar & filled bird feeder. Got supper, did dishes, worked a little more on iris bed – have blocks all around it now. Watched TV. To bed at 1:00.
Saturday, August 28, 1982: Up at 9:15. Sunny, cool. Dressed, made bed. Called Paula. Called Linda but no answer. Washed load of rayons. Vacuumed hall & bath. Sewed a little. Got supper, did dishes. Judy called. Eddie is coming up Wed. to try for night crawlers. Dried some clothes. Worked on books while I watched TV. Got ROAs & chgs. entered but will be more charges. Read old papers. To bed at 1:20. Clouded up in evening but no rain.
Sunday, August 29, 1982: Not so hot in P.M. Up at 8:45. Sunny, cool. Breeze blowing & feels like fall. Got breakfast. Dave came just as we were finishing up. I cleared up & did dishes, then took shower, washed & put up hair. Carla came just as I started. We made bed & finished x-word. Dried clothes in washer. Washed a load of dark colored clothes. Got dinner; dried her clothes. Cleared up table & then she left about 6:00. I did dishes, watched T.V., worked on hem of my hooked rug. Got it done & is real pretty. Looked at paper. To bed at 1:00. Clouded up again & had a little shower.
Monday, August 30, 1982: Up at 8:40. Sunny, cool. Washed & dressed. Made bed. Washed several loads of clothes. Did some sewing. Got lunch. Made bed. Got ready & went down to blood drawing, got groc. When I got home put away groc. Got supper, did dishes. Dried some clothes. Read paper, watched TV. Finished enter charges in book. Wrote up statements & Dad put them in envelopes. Sealed & stamped them. To bed at 12:45.
Tuesday, August 31, 1982: Up at 8:30. Sunny, cool. Dressed, started irrigating. Dad gone fishing. Finished about 11:30. Worked on iris bed. Got all grass & weeds cleaned out & put cement blocks all around it. Reset some iris. Put some blocks on down the other way from flower bed. Had lunch, made bed. Got awning ready to hang, drilled holes, etc. Got one up at kitchen window but not finished. Had supper, did dishes. Dried clothes in washer. Read paper, watched TV. Put load of clothes to soak. To bed at 11:00.
