Little cooler today. Thursday, August 1, 1991: Woke about 7:00, back kind of hurting. Went back to sleep till 7:40, still hurting so didn’t go for my walk. Bothered me all day, didn’t do much. Fed Sam, opened his door. Called Paula, Nancy came over a little. Had breakfast, watered E. end of flower bed. Unloaded blocks from car, put away stuff I bought yesterday. Had lunch, took nap. Looked at Avon catalog, watched VCR a while. Put heel taps on shoes, read paper. Got supper, emptied dishwasher. Got in mail & paper, looked at mail. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Watched VCR. To bed at 1:25.

Saw a deer again when went for our walk. Friday, August 2, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back still a little sore. Went back to sleep till 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Watered flowers on patio, plum tree nearly dead. Called Linda & we went for our walk, met Nancy & Abner & they went, too. Took flowers over for Jay & Daddy. Pulled rest of old sedum on S.W. corner when I got back, dug dandelions S. of sidewalk. Went in & had breakfast, worked w/some mail. Washed & put up hair, replanted flowers in planter for my room. Had lunch, cleaned out small, half moon planter for front bedroom. Watered E. end of flower bed, took nap. Started to work on shelving, didn’t get finished. Watched VCR a little, got supper. Did dishes, cleaned white sandals. Read paper, watched TV. Brushed teeth. Cleaned face. To bed at 12:35. Back seems all better tonight.

Saturday, August 3, 1991: Woke at 6:00, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke again at 7:40, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, called Linda but no answer & Nancy’s van gone, went for my walk alone. Pulled more sedum when I got back, cut off old baby mum bushes. Went in & had breakfast, closed up house. Vacuumed living room & hall, think Hoover belt broke so finished w/Electrolux. Tired & back hurt so I laid down to rest, dozed a little. Heard mower so went out to back out car, Nancy here mowing. Trimmed ^{^yellow} rose bush a little, cleaned out place for shelves. After Nancy left I worked on them, didn’t get quite finished but moved it out to garage. Soaked my feet while I watched “Hee Haw.” Got in mail, transplanted plant into pink half-moon planter. Watered & fertilized more flowers, got supper. Did dishes, watched TV. Looked thru some stuff on table. Paula called, I tried to call Judy but couldn’t get her. Vacuumed dining room, put things away. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

One of Warren Ifft’s boys was killed last night. Sunday, August 4, 1991: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam & went back to bed. Couldn’t sleep so read paper till alarm rang at 7:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Tried to call Judy but no answer again. Took shower, dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Did a few little jobs, left about 10:00. Cloudy & humid, sprinkled a few drops. Linda & Ted took Meg to Camp so not at church today, Nancy either. Stopped at M&W on way home, also Albertson’s. Got medicine at P.W. Drug. Changed clothes, put away groc. Finished vac. sm. bath, dining room. Cleaned off table, made bed. Started to work on kitchen table, got sleepy so took little nap. Carla came, we sat & talked. Had some pie (I called Judy when I got home from church & finally got hold of her). Carla left about 5:30, Paula & Jim came at 5:40. We went to the Sizzler, had a good dinner. I wanted to pay part but Judy wouldn’t let me. Drove out where we used to live, then saw Judy’s house. Looks nice, Jim hung some pix for her. Came home & then they left. Read paper, watched news. Called & talked to Linda. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40. Bladder problem again tonite.

Monday, August 5, 1991: Woke at 6:00, fed Sam. Went back to sleep till about 7:30, read till 8:00. Got up & opened Sam’s door, dressed. Called Linda & we went for our walk, Nancy & Abner too. Didn’t see our deer but Nancy saw it yesterday. When I got back finished pulling sedum, put sprinkler on shrubs, dry spots & trees, ran all day. Cloudy in A.M., humid, & thunderstorm in P.M. Said on news there was a tornado down around Twin Falls, came in & had bkfst. Watched TV. Washed load of colored clothes, had lunch. Looked at stuff on table, took long nap. Wrote to Megan in AM, mailed letters. Wrote note to Marlene, started letter to Cindy. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Dried clothes, read paper & watched TV. Judy called. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Tuesday, August 6, 1991: Woke at 4:00 & about 6:00, went back to sleep till 7:40. Got up about 8:00, Nancy called about our walk but I decided not to since I had to get ready to go to dentist. Took shower, fed Sam & opened his door. Dressed, had breakfast. Put out garbage, watered shrubs in front. Finished letter to Cindy, mailed all letters. Got list ready, finished getting ready. Had lunch, went to dentist. Got catfood, mailed pkg., got groc., home about 4:20. Put away groc., watched VCR a while. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Finished watching tape on VCR. To bed at 12:30. Hot today, supposed to be 105° Thurs.!

Wednesday, August 7, 1991: Woke several times, back to sleep. Woke about 7:20, got up at 7:50. Fed Sam, opened his door. Dressed, called Nancy & we went for our walk. Air nice & cool, no deer today. When I got back watered E. end of flower bed, cut off rest of tiny mums. Worked on bridal wreath again, watered flowers on patio. Had breakfast, snapped beans. Went out & cut off plum tree, now have to cut up branches. Came in & had lunch, had a couple of “gimme” telephone calls. They just make me mad! Washed load of white clothes, dried part. Got sleepy so took nap, about an hour today. Went in & watched VCR – “Fatal Vision.” Nancy brought in my paper, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Called Linda, finished watching Fatal Vision. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:20.

Thursday, August 8, 1991: Woke several times, went back to sleep. Had alarm set for 7:30 but woke a little before, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Nancy went with me to funeral so I went down & picked her up. Didn’t last long, went down to eye Dr. about my glasses. I thought they were breaking but he said were just bent. Finished drying, folding & putting away clothes when I got home. Had lunch, watched VCR a little. Took nap, finished last night’s paper. Went out & cut up branches of plum tree, didn’t get done. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Linda called, guess I’ll go up with her to get Megan tomorrow. Judy called, watched VCR again a little. Washed, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:12.

Friday, August 9, 1991: Woke several times, went back to sleep. Woke just before the alarm rang at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, then dressed. Did my face & hair, had breakfast. Fixed lemonade & orange, took along crax, grapes, candy, etc. Finished getting ready, shut & locked windows & doors. Linda came about 8:30 & we left, sun kind of hot already. Went thru’ Mtn. Home, had brunch at Fairfield. Got to Camp about 1:20. Helped the girls load their stuff & started back, didn’t get to see Mike. Had a good trip, no trouble. Girls slept most of the trip, I napped a little. Got home about 7:10, had some supper & watched TV. Read paper. After news watched VCR. Cleaned face, brushed & flossed teeth. Pretty tired. To bed at 12:20. Wind blowing now.

Saturday, August 10, 1991: Woke several times, back to sleep. Woke finally at 7:00, couldn’t go back to sleep so read & dozed. Got up about 8:00, fed Sam & opened his door. Dressed, called Linda. They were going to Boise so didn’t walk, Nancy came over & we went. When I got home watered E. end of flower bed, cut & broke scalloped pcs. to fit flower beds & put them in. Had breakfast, laid down & slept a while. Cooked hamburger, also macaroni. Layered casserole, made Jello. Had fruit for lunch, washed & put up hair. Soaked feet in Foot Fixer while I watched “Hee Haw,” clipped nails on L. foot. Got in mail, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Watched TV, also VCR. Tooth hurting tonight, outside corner next to crown very tender. Brushed & flossed teeth, etc. To bed at 12:12.

Sunday, August 11, 1991: Woke about 3:20 w/toothache, finally took pain pill & went back to sleep. Woke little before 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, took shower. Dressed, put salad together. Put tom. jce. on casserole & put it in oven, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, put food in car (forgot plate & tools but Nancy had some). Had nice church service – Leah sang, Jerry & Mildred & Stephanie played violin. After church they set up tables, food, etc. on lawn & we ate, had bands for entertainment – was real nice. I left about 2:30, unloaded car. Was home a while & Carla came, she ate some of the mac. casserole & orange jello for her supper & I sent some home w/her. She fixed up a  bouquet & we took it over for Jay. She left about 6:45, I ate a little snack. Read paper, watched TV. Tooth really began to hurt again tonight, don’t know if I can get in tomorrow – dentist doesn’t work on Monday. To bed at 11:12.

Monday, August 12, 1991: Woke a number of times, side of my face hurting. Turned heating pad up & that seemed to help. Woke about 7:40, got up at 8:15. Fed Sam, opened his door. Dressed, called Linda & went for our walk. Picked up Nancy & Ab on our way. Planted geraniums in flower bed when we got back, had breakfast. Went in & watched VCR, put heating pad on my face. Dozed a lot. Had lunch, slept some more. Nancy called & asked me to come to supper tonite, Linda, Ted & kids coming, too. Paul leaving for Ill. tomorrow. Reconciled bank statement, paid some bills, etc. Got ready & went over to Nancy’s. Supper was good. Played 31 afterwards. Got home about 10:30. Fed Sam, watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth, etc., to bed at 1:00.

Tuesday, August 13, 1991: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke again at 7:15, read a little. Got up shortly after 8:00, opened Sam’s door. Got dressed, called Linda & we all went for our walk. Planted more geraniums, took garbage to front. Had breakfast, watched TV. Mike came & mowed, so I moved the car out. Started to water & fertilize violets, didn’t get finished. Watched VCR a while, napped. Had lunch, mailed letters. Worked on stuff on table a little, took another nap. Went out & finished tightening nuts on new shelf unit, put on bottom braces. Put car away, brought cans back & got in paper. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR. Brushed teeth, etc. To bed at 1:40. Tooth still hurting me.

Wednesday, August 14, 1991: Slept thru’ the nite, woke at 5:30, read & went back to sleep. Woke at 7:40, got up about 8:00 & fed Sam. Opened his door, opened up house. Called Linda & told her I was going downtown, called Nancy too. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Got list ready, put cans, bottles, etc. in car. Finished getting ready, left about 12:00. Recycling closed from 12-1; went to P.W. Drug, to Jack’s for a sandwich, to Kings, then Recycling – got 36¢ for my stuff. Got groc. at Paul’s, stopped at shop. Couldn’t get any stuff, boat all loaded down w/shop stuff. Got home about 3:00, unloaded & put away groc. Watched VCR & napped. Forgot I watered flowers in A.M., finished water & fertilize violets. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR, brushed teeth. To bed at 1:55.

Thursday, August 15, 1991: Woke about 6:30, hot & humid on house ^{had rained in night}. Opened front door & turned on fan, fed Sam. Went back to bed, slept till 8:00, Got up ^{heard it raining} & opened Sam’s door, called Dr’s. office. Got an appt. for 11 tomorrow, called Linda & we went for our walk. Cindy & Abner too. When I got back called Helen ^McB & she said to come right over, washed my hair & she cut it. Came home & put up hair, had breakfast & watched VCR. Slept a while, gathered up clothes but didn’t get them washed. Had some veg. & fruit, Helen F. came so went thru’ Avon book. Washed & changed clothes, went to Chuck Wagon dinner w/Linda & Matt. Sat w/Houstons, they are so nice & Natalie & Josh are so cute. Dinner was real good. Came home & read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR, brushed teeth, etc. To bed at 12:55. Sam & a long haired black cat really got into it in the garage tonite. Hope it doesn’t try to come in the house now.

Friday, August 16, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:40, read a little & got up about 8:00. Fed Sam, was cloudy so he stayed in. I left his door shut because of that black cat! Took shower, dressed, called Linda, also Nancy. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Went to dentist at 11:00, they X-rayed tooth again & Dr. said it showed abscess around roots now. Said I should go to Dr. in Boise; they called & made appt. for me for 2:30. I got gas on way home, called Linda to go along but she couldn’t go. Had quite a time finding Dr’s. office. He drilled tooth out & put med. in & a temp. filling, think I’ll have to have it pulled. Kind of hurts tonite. Went to Bests & got pencil sharpeners, called Paula. Got home about 5:00, watched VCR. Called Linda. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watched TV, looked at mail. Judy called, watched VCR. To bed at 12:40.

Saturday, August 17, 1991: Slept good thru’ night, woke about 5:30 & fed Sam. Went back to sleep till 7:50, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, called Linda & went for our walk. Picked up Nancy & Abner on our way, met Bill & Rose just coming home. When I got home planted rest of geraniums, watered them & flower bed. Washed load of dark colored clothes, dried them. Then load of light colored, dried those. Swept & cleaned out utility, scrubbed floor. Had breakfast, watched VCR a while & rested – fell asleep. When I got up dusted & vacuumed living room & hall, had little lunch. Watched Hee Haw, soaked my feet. Vacuumed kitchen, bath; washed load of rugs. Vacuumed dining room, got in mail. Cooked beans & got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Watched TV, looked at mail. Then watched VCR, read old paper. Jaw still kind of sore. Dried rugs. To bed at 12:30.

Sunday, August 18, 1991: Woke about 5:30, went back to sleep. Had alarm set for 7:30 but woke a little before that, got up & fed Sam & opened his door. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, left for church. Took “Gift of Gold” today finally. Quails had coffee hr. today. Stopped at M&W & got a few things on way home. Unloaded car, changed clothes. Just resting a bit & Carla came so didn’t get any more cleaning up done. Paula came soon after, we sat & talked & then got supper. Had stew, potato salad, green beans, tomato-mayo-celery salad, cantaloupe ^{iced tea} & watermelon. We ate about 5:00 & Carla left; Mike came over & got his pencil sharpener. Jim & Ted came about 7:00 so I warmed everything up & fed them – Linda came & she ate too. Paula & Jim left, Linda, Ted & Matt stayed till about 10:00. I did dishes & ran dishwasher, tried to watch VCR but fell asleep so went to bed. 1:10.

Dressed, called Linda & we went for our walk. While I waited for her, watered flowers on patio. Cindy & Abner went w/us, I put water on front lawn, N.W. shrubs & flowers. Did other side in P.M., pulled grass & weeds in flower bed. Went out in back & trimmed spirea & iris, cleaned leaves & dead stuff out of bed. Came in & had breakfast, watched TV. Went in & watched VCR a while & napped, had lunch. Baked peach pie while I watched Soaps, made out C. Wright order, called & had Mike come up & get pie, told him to tell Nancy he baked it this afternoon. Went down & put iron-on patches on Matt’s pants, really look good. Sewed pocket on robe, pressed white jacket. Got in mail & paper. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Went in & watched VCR, read paper. Brushed teeth, cleaned face. To bed at 12:10.

Tuesday, August 20, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again around 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door; Linda called & said she couldn’t walk, had to get Laura from the bus. Walked w/Cindy and we took Abner & Rose. Put water on S.W. shrub when I got home, put out garbage cans. Had breakfast & watched TV, looked at mail & paper. Got sleepy so took nap. Changed water to shrubs in front of house. Had lunch, read papers. Stitched around patch on Matt’s pants. Napped again, cleaned more in family room. Got in mail & paper, brought back garbage can. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR after news. Brushed teeth. Sam still out so left back door open & blocked his door, he’ll have to sleep in the garage if he comes in. To bed at 1:10.

Wednesday, August 21, 1991: Woke at 5:50, checked for Sam & he was in the garage. Gave me quite a talking-to, slept on my bed the rest of the day till I got home from town. Went back to bed & slept till 7:45, got up & talked to Linda. We decided to meet for lunch since this was the girls’ last week before school starts. Matt, Mike, Meg, Cindy, Linda & I, we ate at the Coffee Cup. I took shower, dressed. Had bkfst., made up deposit & got list ready. Called Dr. B. & his nurse said he would call me about 5:00, never did. Finished getting ready, left about noon. Went to Bank, Kings, P.W. Drug, then to Coffee Cup. After lunch went to C. to C., to Paul’s & home (at 3:00). Unloaded car, put away groc. Watched VCR till 6:00, got in paper. Fixed supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Then VCR again. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45.

DADDY’S BIRTHDAY. Thursday, August 22, 1991: Woke at 6:00, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke again about 7:00, read & slept a little. Got up about 8:00, opened Sam’s door. Dressed, Dr. Benedick called. I called Linda & we went for our walk, Cindy & Abner, too. When I got home asked Cindy to mow but she forgot, I watered flower bed. Also watered flowers on patio, also trimmed more of spirea & iris bed. Had bkfst., started to water violets. Watered planter in front, took mums over to cemetery. Had lunch, took nap several times. Ordered hose, reconciled bank statement. Paid several bills, worked on papers. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Had el. storm tonight, maybe will be cooler tomorrow. Judy called. I watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Friday, August 23, 1991: Woke at 4:15, back to sleep. Woke again at 6:20, read & napped till 8:10. Got up & fed Sam, opened his door. Got dressed, called Dentist in Nampa & got an appt. for Tues. at 9:45. Called Linda & we went for our walk, also Cindy & Abner. When I got home moved car out so Cindy could mow, watered flowers in front & on patio. Came in & had breakfast, then went back out & trimmed more spirea & iris bed. Came in & washed & put up hair. Had lunch, finished water violets & watered rest of inside flowers. Took nap, looked at some mail & papers. Washed & changed clothes, Linda, Nancy, Cindy & I went over to the new school & had hamburger, coke & popcorn. Didn’t see much of the inside of the bldg. Got home about 8:30, read paper & watched TV. Then watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55.

LINDA & TED’S ANNIVERSARY [sic] 30 [circled] Monday, August 24⁶, 1991: Woke about 4:00, back to sleep. Woke again about 7:30, got up about 8:00. Really cool this A.M. Fed Sam, opened his door. Dressed, went for my walk alone, Cindy & Nancy at school, Linda had a meeting. Finished digging dandelions in front yard when I got back, then cut off more iris & spirea. Had breakfast, finished Sun. paper. Buried fish head under rose bush, planted mum in back. Had lunch, got sleepy so laid down on bed & took a good nap. Washed load of good colored clothes, watered flower bed. Got in mail & paper, emptied dishwasher. Got supper, did dishes. Paula called, also Judy. Carla, too. Read paper, watched TV. Then VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45.

Sunday, August 25, 1991: Woke early, back to sleep. Woke w/alarm at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, took shower. Dressed, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, went to church. Had coffee hour afterwards, stopped at Paul’s on way home for milk, etc. Cleaned off tables, put away groc. Emptied garbage, took nap. Paula & Jim came about 3:00, after a while Carla & Bill. Then Nancy & Cindy, Linda & Ted & Meg. Matt & Cindy already went over & Mike met us there. We ate at Maria’s Mexican food. Afterwards came home & visited, Carla & Bill left soon after we got home. Paula & Jim left about 9:00 & the rest around 10:00. I watched news & read paper, then VCR. To bed at 1:30.

LINDA & TED’S ANNIVERSARY. 30 SAT. MON. August 26⁴, 1991. Woke about 7:00, back to bed. Read & dozed, woke again about 8:00. Got up & dressed, fed Sam & opened his door. Called Linda & we went for our walk, Nancy & Abner, too, & then Cindy came on her bike. Cleaned out dandelions on S. side of front lawn, came in & had breakfast. Read some papers, rested. Took a nap, vacuumed living room, kitchen, hall, bath, dining room, sm. bath & utility. Had cream bismark & milk for lunch, watched “Hee Haw” at 4:00 & soaked my feet; then got in mail. Paid Dr. bill, wrote check for offering. Worked in fam. room a little, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00. Wind picking up.

Tuesday, August 27, 1991: Woke about 4:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 6:45 (alarm set for 7:00). Got up & fed Sam, opened his door. Took quick shower, dressed. Put clothes in dryer, hung up those that were dried. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left about 9:00, got to Dr’s. office at 9:20. Filled out info & got right in to see him, he agreed tooth should be pulled. Decided to wait till next week so have an appt. for Thurs. Stopped at Ernsts on way home, got catfood. Pd. power bill, got groc. at Pauls. Got home at 1:00, unloaded car. Put away groc., had lunch. Laid down & took nap again, watched interesting show on Oprah. Watched WHEEL & CONC on VCR, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Then VCR again. To bed at 12:50. Linda worked at Dist. Office today, not very hot today, cool at nite.

Wednesday, August 28, 1991: Woke about 7:00, fed Sam. Went back to bed, read & dozed a little. Got up about 8:00, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, called Linda & we went for our walk. Said she may go to work ½ days full time. Watered flowers in front before we walked. When I got back got ladder & tied back sun flowers, one broke off in afternoon. Had breakfast, finished paper. Folded clothes in dryer & put away, went out & watered flowers on patio. Cut off more iris tops & trimmed more spirea, came in & had lunch. Not so hot today, air cool tonight. Got sleepy so took nap, worked on sack of papers. Got in mail & paper, also got chicken in from freezer & baked it but didn’t get done in time for supper. Fixed supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR & news. Brushed teeth. To bed at 2:00.

Thursday, August 29, 1991: Woke about 5:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:00, read & dozed till I got up at 8:20. Fed Sam, opened his door. Dressed, called Linda but no answer. Went for my walk, checked on flowers – they were O.K. & Mike & Abner met me there & we walked around together. When I got home mixed dirt & potting soil & planted Linda’s planter – also min. rose in my new bowl. Had breakfast, looked at catalog. Went out & worked on iris & periwinkle. Came in & had lunch, worked on mail. Took nap, tel. rang about 4:15 & was Norma & Sam. They were in Id. & would be here tonight. I started moving stuff out of bedroom, Nancy, Cindy & Megan came over & helped me & we got the house looking pretty good. I had supper, did dishes. They came about 7:30, we visited & I called girls. They came over later, called Paula & Carla. They’ll try to come over tomorrow nite. Washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40.

Friday, August 30, 1991: Woke at 6:00, read & slept a little. Got up at 8:00, fed Sam & opened his door. Made coffee, put out cereal, etc., for breakfast. Norma & I ate, Sam got up & ate later. Emptied dishwasher, rinsed dishes. Dressed, made bed. Visited, had fruit for lunch. Mike came & mowed the lawn, I left the car out because I thought we might use it tonight. Visited some more, Linda came for a while. Mike, Cindy & Nancy came over to tell Sam’s goodbye, they left for Walla Walla about 5:00, We went to eat about 5:30, went to J.B.’s Big Boy. Drove over to cemetery when we got home, Carla & Bill came just as we got home & Paula soon after. We visited, fixed Cokes. Paula cut my hair, Carla & Bill went home. Paula about 10:30. Saturday, August 31, 1991: Woke about 5:00, read & napped till alarm rang at 6:00. Got up & fed Sam, opened his door. Helped Sam get their ice chest ready to go, they left before 6:30. Went back to bed a while & slept a little, got up about 8:00 & dressed. Had breakfast, talked to Linda but she couldn’t walk. I took Abner & we walked, watered shrubs in front & rose bowl when I got back. Also planters, then washed & put up hair. Watered violets & other flowers inside. Had lunch, watched VCR & napped a little. Took care of Abner & CC several times, watered Nancy’s planters in front, also mums. Called Judy, also talked to Linda again. Got supper, did dishes. Read old paper, watched TV. Watched VCR, laid out clothes & got out suitcases. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Monday, July 1, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep till 8:15. Got up & fed Sam, watched VCR a while. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Went out & picked berries till it got hot, came in & had breakfast. No “Wheel” or “Concentration” today – tennis! Went out & finished cutting old peony blooms. Washed load of colored clothes, dried & put away. Cut Sam’s spread in two & hemmed it, put back on bed. Took a nap & rested, went out in late afternoon & picked berries in back of garage. Also some in back by fence, will get the rest in morning. Got pretty warm today, probably need air conditioner tomorrow. Got supper, did dishes. Looked at mail, watched TV. Watched VCR again, Michael Landon died today – only 54 & had 9 children. Fixed & washed strawberries. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Tuesday, July 2, 1991: Woke about 7:00, couldn’t go back to sleep so read a while & napped. Got up about 8:15, fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Went out & trimmed walnut & ash trees, also birch & plum a little. Picked rest of berries, came in & took out garbage. Hauled cans to front, had breakfast. Rested a while, got pretty hot. Dried rest of clothes & put away. Washed & put up hair, closed up house & pulled drapes. Had lunch, took nap. Washed load of good colored, dried part & put away. Put away suitcases, turned on furnace fan. Watered E end of flower bed, turned on sprinklers. Got in mail & paper, started to get supper. Paula called, Nancy, Cindy & Mike came & Linda called. Later on Carla called, finally finished supper & ate.. Washed berries & sugared them, watched TV. Also VCR a little, took shower & brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Paula’s operation – what a day! Wednesday, July 3, 1991: Woke w/alarm at 6:00, got up & fed Sam. Rinsed face & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Finished drying & putting away clothes. Shut all windows & pulled shades, left about 8:15. Stopped at Albertsons & got a peach colored chrysanthemum for Paula – Judy went in on it with me. Drove to Boise & had no trouble getting to St. Luke’s, took Broadway exit. When we went in met Jim on steps, waited in waiting room until Dr. Smith came in to talk to Jim. Didn’t have to fuse vertebra so only one incision. Jim took us to lunch at “Le Poulet Rouge” (The Little Red Hen). When we got back Paula was in her room, Marilyn there & feeding her ice. She slept off & on during the afternoon, mostly just complained of sore throat. Mike & Cindy came up, she got 2 big bouquets of flowers. Am so glad it’s over. Judy & I ate at Mandarin on way home – watched VCR. To bed 12:50.

Thursday, July 4, 1991: Woke at 6:55, couldn’t go back to sleep so read a little. Got up about 7:30, fed Sam. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Put card table & chairs in car. Put in coolers, chips, etc., pop, went out & uncovered air conditioner. Turned it on about middle of A.M., 100° in Boise today. Cooked macaroni, made salad. Had breakfast, put out flag. Sliced ham & wrapped it in foil ready to bake. Washed & changed clothes, got ready to go to Carlas. Nancy couldn’t find her card table so I cleaned off my old one in fam. room & we took it. Put rest of stuff in car, also step by back door. Shut Sam in, went down to get Judy. Got to Carlas about 2:45. She got things ready, Linda & Ted came. They went to get Megan, we ate about 5:30. Judy & I went up to see Paula, she’s not feeling very well – nausea. Went back to Carlas & watched fireworks. Came home about 11:30. Went down to Nancys & watched their fireworks. To bed at 1:40.

Put fan in garage & pulled in cool air. Went out & picked berries, both. Came in at 10:00, Helen F. came but just left books. Had breakfast & rested, went in & laid down a while. Rosie called & wanted Debbie’s name & address so called Carol & we talked a while, called Rosie back then. Nancy came over & I gave her some berries, Cindy came & mowed. I set irr. timer to water tonight, washed load of dark colored clothes. Dried & put away, emptied dishwasher. Rinsed dishes, washed up coolers & tea buckets. Watched VCR a while, watered E. end of flower bed. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, watched TV & read paper. Watched VCR again, stemmed strawberries. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30. A little cooler today & nice breeze tonight.

Saturday, July 6, 1991: Woke at 2:30, back to sleep till 7:30. Got up, fed Sam & opened his door. Dressed, went out & picked berries in back. Put sprinkler on both corners of back yard & across back. Worked on patio a little, too hot so I came in. Had breakfast, Judy called & said Paula gets to go home this afternoon so I called Linda. Nancy came over later so I told her. Started to water & fertilize violets, sprinkled dry spots in lawn in front. Watched VCR & napped a little, had lunch about 1:00. Washed & sugared raspberries, ready to freeze. Got supper, did dishes. Went out  & worked on patio a while. Cleaned out gutter. Fixed S. berries, washed & sugared them. Watered & fertilized rest of flowers, called Carla. Did lots of little misc. jobs today. Brushed teeth – oh, yes, washed & put up hair in P.M. To bed at 1:00. Darn Sam! He almost got shut out tonite – sneaked out when I opened door to cat [illegible word]

Sunday, July 7, 1991: Woke about 2:30, back to sleep. Woke at 7:15 A.M., got up & took shower & dressed. Fed Sam, opened his door. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left for church about 10:00, Pastor & family on vacation. Rev. Schulze held services. Stopped & got groc. on way home, put them away. Changed clothes, Paula called. Had coffee & toast, Meg & Cindy came over & got some clothes, having a play. Took Linda’s vases, berries, etc.; I closed up house & left for Carla’s, never did see anything of Sam. Went in to Paulas about 4:00, visited w/her till about 6:00 – then got something to eat at Edwards in Garden City. I left for home, called Carla – also Linda. Put stuff away, watched TV. Fixed VCR for tomorrow, brushed teeth. Wrote checks for bills. To bed at 12:05. Sam here when I got home.

Monday, July 8, 1991: Woke about 4:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Put meat, etc., in car, closed windows. Left for Boise (Judy called). Paid water bill, stopped for catfood. Got to Boise about 10:45, Paula doing pretty good. Walks around slowly, sits a while but has to lie down when her back starts to hurt. Sat & visited till lunch time, then I fixed tomato soup, chunky ham sandwiches, root beer. Cleared up & rinsed dishes, then sat & talked again. About 3:00 put meat on to cook, fixed & chopped vegs. Made celery w/cheese, set table, mashed berries for dessert, made lemonade. Stew tasted real good. Nancy called & they came over about 9:00. We emptied dishwasher, then I loaded it & we turned it on. I left about 9:15. Judy called soon after I got home, I called Linda. Rinsed dishes, watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:35.

Opened Sam’s door, went out & picked berries till 10:00. Came in & had breakfast, watched TV. Watched VCR till 1:00, pretty tired. Had lunch, have to watch what I eat because of Hemo-Cult Test. Watered E. end of flower bed, put out garbage in A.M. Sprayed ant hills, watched TV & napped. Watched VCR again so I could finish & rewind tape, no “Wheel” or “Jeopardy” tonite because of ALL-STAR Game. Got in mail & paper, fixed supper & ate. Picked rest of berries, had a full bucket. Watched TV & did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper, fixed & washed S. berries, they’re done now. Cooked broccoli, have to freeze it. Watched VCR again, brushed teeth. To bed at 1:05.

Wednesday, July 10, 1991: Woke at 2:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 6:55, couldn’t go back to sleep so read paper. Judy called before 8:00, she had called Paula & Jim so let me know. Got up about 8:00 & fed Sam, dressed. Opened his door, went out & picked berries in back. Not many left. Tried to call photog. when I came in but got ans. machine. Washed & sugared berries, had breakfast. Got groc. list ready, paid P.W. bill. Washed & changed clothes, had lunch. Went downtown about 1:00, got gas, to P.W. Drug for med. & pd. bill, got groc. at Paul’s, then headed for Boise. Went to airport, saved two baby killdeer – they were so cute! Have to write in to United about my ticket. Went down to Paulas, Mike & Matt were there. Took her some berries, a ham & a melon. Got home about 5:00, put away groc. Watched VCR a little, got supper. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Fixed berries, went in & watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50.

Saw eclipse w/cardboards. Thursday, July 11, 1991: Woke at 5:15, back to sleep. Woke again about 7:15, read a little while. Got up about 8:00, fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door & turned  on fan in garage. Called & talked to Linda, had breakfast. Washed load of dark colored clothes, dried, hung up & put away. Looked at papers on tables, put sprinkler on S. maple. Doorbell rang and it was Duane & Arlene, he didn’t get out so we just visited out at the car for a while. When they left they stopped at Luby Park & saw Linda & Nancy, then went by the shop & saw Ted. I had lunch, took nap. Did little odd jobs, washed another load of clothes. Dried part, put water on N. maple. Watched VCR a while, took hanging baskets out to patio. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, watched TV. Read paper, then watched VCR. Ate some popcorn. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:30.

Friday, July 12, 1991: Woke at 5:50, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:40, read a little. Got up about 8:00, fed Sam. Dressed, opened Sam’s door & turned on fan. Dried, folded, hung up rest of clothes, washed load of white clothes, later dried, folded, hung up & put away those. Watered planter in front, put sprinkler on dry spots in front. Had breakfast, talked to Linda a little. Ted came up & serviced air cond. Talked to him about mail box post. Had lunch, watched TV. Got sleepy so took nap, feet hurt so I soaked them in Foot Fixer. Cut toe nails on L. foot, went out & watered flowers on patio washed off trash on floor. Put away croquet set, etc., got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Watched TV & read paper, also watched VCR a while. Really had a toothache all evening since supper, kind of let up by now. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:35.

Feed Ab. & C.C., let Ab. out about 4 X a day. Water hanging pots every day, others every other day. Saturday, July 13, 1991: Woke about 6:00, read a little. Went back to sleep till 7:50, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, then called Dr. Benedick. He said to meet him at his office at 10:00. Got dressed, went out & picked berries till 9:00. Took shower, got ready. Left about 9:50, pulled up just as Dr. did. He X-rayed tooth, cleaned off area below crown. Thinks there is a little decayed spot there that is causing trouble. Stopped at Nancy’s on way home, left car so Cindy could wash it. She came up & mowed, then washed car. I had breakfast, took pain pill & laid down w/heating pad. Fell asleep, slept till about three. Had sandwich, watched Hee-Haw. Went out & finished picking berries, got in mail. Watered planter in front, tooth still hurting off & on. Fixed supper & ate. Called Linda but she wasn’t home. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Watched TV, read papers. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:05.

Water for Ab. & C.C. Get in mail & paper. Sunday, July 14, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Again at 7:15, couldn’t sleep so read papers. Phone rang about 8:30, Carla called to say she had a headache & didn’t feel very good so wasn’t coming over. I fed Sam, opened his door. Had breakfast, washed & dressed. Tried to call Dentist but no answer. Took pain pill & laid down, slept till about 2:00. Tooth not hurting very much. Had toast, went in & watched VCR. Put heating pad on jaw, can definitely tell now it’s the last tooth – not the crown. Got in paper, called Linda. Later on Carla called me. Had frozen dinner for supper, emptied dishwasher. Did dishes, watched Perry Mason. Then watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Monday, July 15, 1991: Woke at 2:30, back to sleep. Again about 6:00, slept again. Finally got up at 7:40, fed Sam. Washed & dressed, opened his door. Tried to call dentist but no answer, went out & picked berries. When I got back in called dentist at home, have to go back in at 7:45 in A.M. Had breakfast, took pain pill. Watered E. end of flower bed. Talked to Jan, Lary’s brother died. Got sleepy so laid down on bed & took nap. Forgot to eat lunch. Called Helen McBride about 3:30 & went over & had her cut my hair. Moved some flowers & white tables to patio. Put up hair, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Watched TV, read paper. Judy called. Watched VCR a little bit. Brushed teeth, washed face. To bed at 12:10.

Tuesday, July 16, 1991: Woke several times, went back to sleep. Alarm woke me at 6:20 so I got up, fed Sam. Washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had glass of O.J., got ready to go. Left about 7:30. Dr. checked tooth & couldn’t see anything so decided to just wait & see what develops. Seemed to be better today & no intense pain. Changed clothes when I got home, called Linda & we went for a walk. Stopped at her house & looked at their pix – some really pretty country. When I got home scrubbed rug in car on driver’s side, washed mat. Had brunch, took nap. Called from Dentist’s office, have to go in tomorrow at 8:30 for filling. Carried more flowers out to patio, dieff. plant fell over, knocked bunch of flowers over so had to clean that up. Watered rest of flowers, also more violets. Cleaned & vacuumed flower stands, etc. in dining room. Nancy over a little, also Judy called. Got in paper, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Watched VCR, took shower & brushed teeth. Bed at 12:45.

Have headache tonight. Trimmed tiny mums today. Wednesday, July 17, 1991: Woke several times, alarm rang at 6:30. Got up & fed Sam, washed & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, got to Dentists just at 8:30. Froze my R. jaw, filled tooth. Didn’t hurt except for the needle, have appt. for cleaning, etc., on Aug. 6^th. Stopped at M&W on way home, at Bank, then Paul’s for groc. on way home. Unloaded groc., took berries over to Ila. Nancy came over, said they were leaving. I came home & put groc. away. Firemen had been here & checked smoke detectors, I put new batt. in one in utility. Finished watering violets, watered E. end of flower bed. Had lunch, took nap. Jaw kind of hurting so took aspirin. Worked on flower shelves, watched VCR a little. Snapped beans, washed berries. Got in mail & paper, took care of pets. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Also VCR. To bed at 12:40.

Thursday, July 18, 1991: Woke during night, back to sleep. Woke at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Went down & let Abner out, went out & picked berries. Came in about 9:00, called Linda & we went for our walk. Took both Martin & Abner along. Gave Linda her paper, berries & Meg’s dimes; put water on front lawn & trees. Dug out dirt & put in another cement block for garbage cans, dug & transplanted another little pine tree (have 3 now). Had breakfast, watched VCR a while. Took little nap, went down & let Abner out again. Had lunch, took Aloe to patio. Helen F. came, supposed to call her if I need anything. Kept changing water in front, swept rocks, etc., from gutter. Put beans on to cook & let them burn – darn!, Cleaned up B-B-Q sacks & dish. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:55.

Friday, July 19, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Went over & took care of Abner & CC, watered flowers. When I got back called Linda & we went for our walk, took Abner & Martin along. Trimmed dead shrub in front, watered. Put in another block, came in & had breakfast. Cut old iris blooms & trimmed spirea a little. Read paper, rested a little. Went over & let Abner out a little, had lunch. Read papers a little, took nap. Put away some things, cleaned small bath. Went over & let Ab. out, got in paper. Got in my mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, emptied dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Went over & let Ab. in, kept him company a little while. Paula called, still getting along O.K. Watched VCR a little. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50.

Saturday, July 20, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Got ready & went over, took Abner & went for our walk. Put him in bedroom when I got back, watered E. end of flower bed. Brought in & planted another pine tree. Tried to call Judy, no answer. Had breakfast, called Linda & we talked a long time. Read some old papers, did small misc. jobs. Have about 6 new flea bites again. Started to clean pink bath, tired so I laid down to rest. Linda & Megan came. She got her notice from Leona’s estate, we went down & emptied out white cardboard chest. Gave her several things. Never did get back to cleaning. Went back over to take care of pets at 2:00, 5:30, put them to bed at 9:30. Got supper, did dishes. Read papers, watched TV. Washed & sugared raspberries, watched VCR a little. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:10.

Sunday, July 21, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, took shower. Washed face & dressed, had breakfast. Went to church, Communion today. Stopped & got milk on way home, also watered flowers at Nancy’s & put Abner in Mike’s room. Changed clothes, Carla called – said she’d ^{^be} a little late. Laid down & took a little nap. When I woke up had toast & coffee, started fixing stuff for supper. Watered flowers on patio, pretty hot. Carla came & we sat & talked a little, finished up supper & we ate. Went down & let Abner out, he was so excited to see Carla. Cleared up & did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper & watched TV, then watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Ann’s B’Day. Monday, July 22, 1991: Woke about 5:15, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:15, got up & fed Sam. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Went over & let Abner out, CC came in. Came home & picked berries beside garage, don’t know if I’ll pick again or not – nearly done. Called Linda & we went for our walk, took Abner & Martin. Took him home when we got back & put him in, CC went out. Had breakfast, watched “Wheel” on VCR. Tired so laid down & slept a little, watered flowers when I put Ab. inside. Went over about 2:00 & let him out again, reconciled bank statement. Sent letter to Cald. Parks Dept., wrote to United. Took nap, watched VCR again. Repotted Xmas cactus, trimmed rose. Got supper & ate, went over & let Ab. out again, stayed w/him a while. Came back & picked rest of berries. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:25.

Tuesday, July 23, 1991: Cloudy in A.M. Woke about 4:30, again at 6:30, finally got up about 7:30. Fed Sam, dressed. Opened his door. Went over & took care of Abner, CC wasn’t there. Came home & called Linda but she couldn’t walk today, went over & got Abner & we went for our walk. Saw a deer today down by the river! When I got home watered E. end of flower bed, then Paul’s Scarlet. Had breakfast, fixed umbrella & hole in white sweater pocket. Keep having headache so took Sineaid, laid down & slept a while. Went over about 12:30 & let Ab. out again, CC still not there. Had lunch, took garbage out & cans to front. Napped again, worked on family room. Judy called, storm blew up in late P.M. Went over & let Ab out, CC was there. Got in mail & paper, oh yes, watered flowers today. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV, watched VCR, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45. Dug some dandelions in front yard this A.M.

Wednesday, July 24, 1991: Woke about 4:45, at 5:45, finally got up about 7:00. Fed Sam, dressed. Opened his door, went over & let Abner out. Didn’t water flowers today, came home & had breakfast. Got list ready, left about 10:30. Stopped & put Abner in, went to Bank, M&W, Penny Wise, then to Paul’s for groc. Stopped & let Abner out on way home, about 1:00 o’clock. Put away groc., had lunch. Laid down & took nap, about 4:00 when I got up. Went in & watched VCR, went over & took care of Ab & CC. Got in mail & paper on way back, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Went over about 9:30 & put Abner in, CC there too. They surely are lonesome. Called Paula, watched news & then VCR. Snapped beans. looked at mail. Brushed teeth, wind blowing again tonight. To bed at 1:00.

Thursday, July 25, 1991: Woke at 4:45, at 5:45 and again at 6:45. Read a little, got up about 7:30. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Went over & let Abner out, dug out & laid another block. Called Linda & we went for our walk, took Ab & Martin. When I got back, watered planter on stump, pulled old sedum flowers. Came in & had breakfast, watched VCR a little. Worked on family room rest of afternoon, got it about ½ cleaned. Had lunch about 1:00, got Jim’s card ready. Went over & checked on Ab & CC several times, he wanted to stay out this afternoon so I let him. I got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, watched VCR. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR again a little while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:15.

Friday, July 26, 1991: Woke several times, went back to sleep. Finally got up at 7:30, fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Went over & let Abner out, came back & picked berries. Think this will be last picking. Called Linda & we went for our walk, not quite so hot today (85°). Linda came by again & I gave her the berries. Showed her my pix. Had breakfast, looked thru’ some catalogs. Got Jim’s card ready & mailed it, watered plants & put hose on trees & shrubs in front. Washed & put up hair, went over & put Abner in. Had lunch, took nap. Matt & Ted came up & fixed my mail box, really looks nice & so good to get it fixed. Mike came while they were here, so good to see him. Cindy stayed in Calif. I read old paper, then went out & finished picking berries. Got in paper (Matt brought mail). Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher.

Backed car out so Mike could mow, called Linda but she decided not to walk. Waiting to see if Paula would call, Paula not feeling too well yesterday. Went for my walk, Abner decided to come along so I took him. When I got back Mike had mowed so I put car away, pulled some more sedum & dug a few dandelions. Watered shrubs in front of big window, E. end of flower bed in late afternoon. Had breakfast, started to clean living room. Laid down to rest a while, had fruit for lunch. Finished living room, watched Hee-Haw & soaked my feet. Vacuumed kitchen & hall, got in mail. Got supper & ate, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Read papers & watched TV, then watched VCR. Brushed teeth & hair. To bed at 1:10.

Sunday, July 28, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Alarm rang at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, took shower & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left about 10:00, Nancy didn’t go to church today & Mike gone to camp for 2 wks. – maybe more. Stopped at Paul’s for groc. on way home, changed clothes. Carla called, had headache so didn’t come over. Linda called later & said Jim’s team won so they weren’t come over, we went to Pizza Hut for supper. Watched painting at 1:00, had lunch. Tried to read paper but kept falling asleep, took several naps. After we had supper read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR after news. To bed at 12:45. Didn’t feel very well, bladder trouble starting.

Monday, July 29, 1991: Woke at 2:30, 4:30, 5:50, back to sleep. Woke at 7:10, still feeling bad. Fed Sam, opened his door. Dressed, called Linda & we decided not to walk. Had bread & milk, took Septra pill. Had breakfast, laid down & took long nap. When I got to feeling better in A.M. went out & trimmed spirea, took can to front. Had lunch, took another pill. Looked thru’ old papers in bedroom, laid down for a while again. Started to water violets, watched VCR a while. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, looked at mail, watched TV & read paper. After news watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50.

Tuesday, July 30, 1991: Woke about 5:00, fed Sam. Back to sleep, woke about 6:00 but went back to sleep till 7:40. Got up, opened Sam’s door. Dressed, worked on papers. Called Linda, stomach kind of upset so didn’t walk. Had breakfast, started to water violets again. Went in & watched VCR a while, took out garbage & cans to front. Had lunch, went down & sewed a while. Nancy came over, brought in mail & paper. P.W. bill came so I paid that, watched VCR again. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Then VCR again. Brushed teeth. Called Carla & Linda called me. To bed at 12:55.

Last day of July – surely wish it would cool off now. 100° again today. Wednesday, July 31, 1991: Woke at 5:00, back to sleep. Again at 6:55, dozed a little. Got up about 8:00, Linda called so we agreed to meet for lunch at Coffee Cup at 1:00. Fed Sam, opened his door. Took quick shower & dressed, made up groc. list. Finished getting ready, shut up house & left about 11:30. Went to Kings & bought quite a bunch of stuff, then to P.W. Drug. Forgot med. bottles so couldn’t get that, got to Coffee Cup at same time as Linda & Meg. From there went out to Ernsts & Woolworths. Got a few things, came back & got groc. at Pauls – then home. Unloaded & put away groc., nice & cool in house. Watched VCR, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Yr. will soon be half gone again! Saturday, June 1, 1991: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam & went back to bed. Slept till about 7:30, got up & let Sam out. Watched VCR a while, called Paula. Dressed, had breakfast. Went out & finished weeding sunflowers from bed by house, then worked on those S. of drive. Came in about 1:00, had lunch. Took ladder around & put up shades on front porch, really needed them today. Vacuumed living room, kitchen, bath, hall & dining room, watched Hee Haw. Took short nap, then went out & set out snapdragons. Watered them a little, got in mail. Had letter from city about meeting Mon. at 9:00. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watched TV, then went in & watched VCR. Wired gate shut today. Fixed strawberries after supper, washed & sugared them. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Sunday, June 2, 1991: Woke about 6:20, fed Sam. Went back to sleep till 7:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Took shower, dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left for church about 10:00, had practice downstairs for a little bit. Confirmation today, also Communion so a long service. Had reception for Confirmands after church, I brought Laura home. Picked up pix at Albertsons, got a few groc. at Paul’s, then home. (1:30) Changed clothes, Carla came & soon after Paula. Brought their new Blazer, really nice. We talked a while, then I fixed supper, steak, baked potatoes, cheesed asparagus, lettuce salad, iced tea, & strawberry shortcake. Carla left & Paula & I went over to get our planters at cemetery – they were gone! Boy that makes me mad! We brought some flowers back & took Nancy’s planters over to her, they were still there. After Paula left I did dishes, then watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40. Really warm today.

Monday, June 3, 1991: Woke at 4:30, fed Sam. Went back to sleep till 7:30, got up & let Sam out. Had breakfast, washed & dressed. Called Judy, finished getting ready. Left about 8:15, picked up Judy & we went over to watch Cindy’s B.B. practice a little bit. Then went over to Sr. Cit. Ctr. for our meeting. Got out about 9:45, took Judy to Wash. Fed. & then I came home. Hauled garbage can to front, clipped some roses. Changed clothes, worked outside a while. Watched Concentration, then “Wheel” on VCR. Went out again & transplanted snaps, pulled sunflowers. Watered my spot in front, came in & had lunch. First planted rest of flowers in front, took nap in P.M. About 5: went out & pulled more sunflowers, watered flower beds. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, watched TV & read paper. Watched VCR a little but got sleepy so got ready for bed. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30. Ear hurting today. ←Linda never did call???

Tuesday, June 4, 1991: Woke at 5:25, back to bed. Read & dropped off to sleep again. Alarm woke me at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left for downtown about 8:45. Magic Mirror has moved, down where Tru-Beauty  used to be now. My hair really looked nice, went to Bank, P.W. Drug & Albertsons. Got home about 11:30, cut some peonies & took down to Nancy. Worked on sunflowers again, surely windy & cold again. Cindy came up & mowed, Nancy helped me pull sunflowers. Came in & had lunch. Got a few more things for suitcase, took nap. Went out & finished flower bed, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watched TV & read paper, then VCR a while. Linda called, staying in ____ KY tonite. Got to Cheyenne about 7:00 last night, had a bad rain & hail storm. On way down to GA. now, no car trouble so far. To bed at 1:00.

Wednesday, June 5, 1991: Woke at 5:30, fed Sam & went back to bed. Read till I fell asleep, woke at 7:25. Got up & opened his door, dressed. Started packing suitcases, had breakfast. Did misc. jobs getting ready to go, wound clock, locked windows & doors, etc. Made several telephone calls, had lunch. Helen F. came for her tub pole, left Linda’s Avon stuff. Finished lunch, read some papers. Paid taxes, was going to pay Inc. Tax. Est. but couldn’t find notices. Had to call Carla to see if she can get me some, can’t imagine what happened to them. Took Cindy on her paper route at 4:00, watered Linda’s geranium, flower bed & gave Marty his treats. Cindy went with me to take Sam out to vets, got film at Albs. Got supper, did dishes. Emptied dishwasher this afternoon. Read paper, watched TV. Ordered dress from Blair, cooked veggies. Took shower, washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50. Have to get up at 5:00.

LEAVE FOR PORTLAND 8:00 A.M.  Thursday, June 6, 1991: Alarm rang at 5:00, got up & dressed. Had breakfast, got ready to go. Mike & Cindy came at 7:15, went down & got Judy. Got up to Phillips 66 & loaded on bus, left at 8:00. Stopped at rest stops several times, had lunch in the Blues near Pendleton. Stopped at Bonneville Dam, saw sturgeon & trout & fish going over fish ladder. Stopped at Multnomah Falls, then came on to Holiday Inn at Wilsonville. Had supper at their restaurant, kind of expensive but lots of food – too much, actually. Came back to room (310). Unpacked & hung up clothes, watched news. Read a little & got sleepy. Got ready for bed. 11:15. To bed – 11:35.

Woke up at 2:30 but went right back to sleep. Friday, June 7, 1991: Had alarm set for 6:30 but Judy woke up at 6:10 so I did too, got up & dressed. Got ready & went down to breakfast, then to bus. Left for Lloyd’s Center about 9:00, went to Rose Show. Really were some beautiful flowers; of course, I forgot my camera. Got some hair spray there, left Rose Show at 12:30. Went to _____ Rest. for lunch, visited thrift shop & bought 2 skirts. From there went to Grotto, was a beautiful place. Went up in elevator & took a walk around grounds, got a couple souvenirs. Drove around a while & then went to Antique & looked around a while. Drove around again & then went to Organ Grinder Pizza. Organ music there about like Show Time – so loud it hurt your ears. Judy & I shared a Pizza. Back to Motel – want to take a shower tonight. Rose Parade tomorrow. Bed about 11:30.

Saturday, June 8, 1991: Got up at 2:30, back to sleep. Alarm set for 6:00 so got up & got dressed, went down & had breakfast (French toast). Got on bus & left for Portland, kind of hard time getting down to Coliseum. Had to go up quite a few stairs to get to our seats, could see real well tho’. Loved the parade, every time there were horses there would be a little “pooper” wagon drive through. After the parade went to North’s Chuck Wagon for dinner, (4.39) had a good dinner. Then came back to Motel, took a nap. About 5:00 changed & got ready to go to concert, had a bowl of soup & tea. Concert at a theater, Doc Severinson was real good & enjoyed it a lot. Came back to Motel, then over to J.Bs &  had pie & coffee. Got to our room at 12:15, hung up clothes, washed & got ready for bed. 1:00.

Sunday, June 9, 1991: Woke at 2:30 & again at 4:00, back to sleep. Woke at 5:17 just before alarm rang, got up & dressed. Fixed face & got ready to go, down to bus by 7:30. Went over to JBs for breakfast, then came back over & picked up rest of group. Left for beach, sunny but cold & windy when we got there. Soon went back to town & did rest of our souvenir shopping, met at Morris’ Fireside Inn at 1:30 for dinner – was real good. After we ate all piled on bus & drove up Coast to Seaside & Astoria, saw the wreck of The Peter Iredale. Not much left of it, sank in 1906. Went to Fort Steele? (1904-1944), only place bombed by Japanese during WWII. Crossed Columbia R. at Astoria, took us up to see Astoria Column. Left for home, went over to J.Bs when we got home & had salad bar. Back at Motel packed suitcases, took shower, washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40.

Monday, June 10, 1991: Woke about 2:30 & 4:00, back to sleep. Again woke at 5:55 just before alarm rang. Got up & dressed, finished packing. Finished packing & put suitcases in hall, went down to breakfast. Ready to go at 8:00. Drove steadily to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood, beautiful place. After a while went on to Madras, Or., had lunch there. Came on to Caldwell but getting late. Saw lots of deer & antelope, also a possible forest fire. Got in about 9:30, so surprised to see Mike there to meet us. Took Judy home, came up home & Nancy, Mike & Cindy came over a little. Gave them their souvenirs, then they soon went home. Got things in order, had some soup, then to bed. Awfully tired. About 1:00.

Roy & Phyllis Anniv. – 1939.  Tuesday, June 11, 1991: Woke at 2:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 5:30, back to sleep again till 7:57. Got up & dressed, called to ask if Sam was ready to come home. Called Cindy & asked her to go along to get him ($63.00), boy did he talk to us on the way home! Went out & worked in flower bed a little while, watered E. end. Transplanted several sunflowers. Watered S. flower bed (tomato plants), had breakfast. Unpacked suitcases, watered some flowers inside. Changed to cooler clothes, had lunch. Took nap, still didn’t feel very well so laid down & slept for quite a while. Seem to have a sore gland in L. side of neck, Carla called. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. After news watched VCR but kept falling asleep (911), to bed at 1:18. Brushed teeth.

Wednesday, June 12, 1991: Woke at 7:25, got up & dressed. Fed Sam, opened his door. Wind is chilly this morn, went for my walk. They took all flowers off Daddy & Jay’s graves – nothing left. When I got back transplanted some sunflowers & snapdragons, watered Paul’s Scarlet Rose. Dug out flowers & dirt, laid one block by drive in flower bed. Came in & had breakfast, watered violets. Used weed-eater & trimmed both front & back, came in & washed & put up hair. Have sore gland in my neck yesterday & today. Had lunch, soaked my feet & watched TV. Took nap, Cindy came over & mowed. I started working on hand puppet, Ernie. Went out to put car away, water in front & get in paper. Saw Nancy & Cindy & they said Linda & Ted were home, asked me to come over for spaghetti. Changed clothes, fixed some garlic bread. Went over about 7:00, came home at 10:00. Watched VCR a while after news, kept going to sleep. To bed at 1:30.

Thursday, June 13, 1991: Woke at 4:30, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke at 7:30, got up & let Sam out. Took shower, dressed. Had breakfast, made up deposit & grocery list. Finished getting ready to go downtown. Worked on Ernie a while, watered violets. Got in planters & put in car, also artificial flowers. Had lunch, went downtown about 2:00. Went to Bank, to P.W. Drug, took film to Alb. & got more snaps. Then to Pauls for groc. & home. Oh, yes, stopped at cemetery on way down & left planters & flowers. When I got home (4:00) I unloaded car, put away groc. Got in mail & paper, watched VCR till 6:00. Got supper & ate, worked on Ernie & watched TV. Did dishes, Judy called. Watched VCR, watered more violets all afternoon & eve. Called this afternoon & made appts. w/Dr. & service for car. To bed at 12:50. Larry Bond called me from Notus today – on his way to Ia.

FLAG DAY  Friday, June 14, 1991: Woke at 5:30, fed Sam. Back to sleep, woke again at 7:30. Tried to go back to sleep a little but couldn’t so read. Got up at 8:30 & let Sam out. Dressed, called Linda but she had a meeting so couldn’t walk. I went for my walk, wind was cold so I wore a sweater. When I got back watered S.W. corner of yard, came in & had breakfast, finished watering violets. Looked at mail, paid Tax Est. & gas bill. Got ready & took car down for service at 11:30, they also rotated tires. Stopped at P.W. Drug & got anniv. card for Paula & Jim, mailed it when I got home. Cut boquet of peonies & took over to Linda, had lunch & took nap when I got home. Read paper & more mail, watched VCR a little. Went out & planted & watered new snaps, clipped nails this afternoon. Got in mail & paper, got supper & ate. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Read paper & watched TV, watched VCR. Fixed & washed strawberries, brushed teeth. Bed – 1:00.

Saturday, June 15, 1991: Woke at 6:30, fed Sam. Back to sleep till 7:30, got up about 8:00 & turned up heat! Really chilly this morning. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, watered flower beds & shrubs in front all day. Didn’t go for walk as my blister was pretty sore. Nancy called, wanted some aloe as Mike burned himself & was hurting. Gave her the Foille also, hope it helped. Brought in petunias from patio, awfully dry – hope they make it. Had lunch, put my head down & slept a little. Cleaned living room, swept porch. Got in mail, got supper. Judy called, had talked to Paula. Did dishes, vacuumed kitchen, hall, bath, dining room & sm. bath. Watered rest of flowers, read paper & watched news. Watched Hee Haw on VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Sunday, June 16, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep. (Fed Sam). Woke again at 7:30, opened Sam’s door. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, to church at 10:00. No organ music today, Robbie H. played the guitar. No coffee hour either, till fall. Stopped at Alb. for pix but weren’t ready yet, got some petunias. When I got home changed clothes, watched Bob Ross Painting. Got in meat & thawed in microwave, went over to cemetery & took baskets over. Also picks for planters, pruned trunk of little tree. Cut grass around & between stones, cleaned off dead grass. When I got home put meat on rotiss., made up salad. Cooked potatoes, husked corn. Carla & Bill came about 4:00, we ate about 5:00. Just finished when Paula & Jim came, they finished up the rest of supper. Bill put weed killer on lawn. After they left I did dishes & ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR & napped. To bed at 1:36.

Paula & Jim’s anniv. Monday, June 17, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Tel. woke me at about 6:30, Nancy calling to tell me that Leona passed away this A.M. at 5:30 ILL. time. Got up & fed Sam, opened his door. Called Linda, said she would walk w/me today. I got dressed, had breakfast. We walked about 9:30, I started washing clothes when I got back. Called Carla about 11:30, started kind of getting clothes ready to pack. Dried, folded, hung up & put away clothes, Nancy called & said funeral would be Wed. so we have to leave tomorrow; she called & made reservations. Kind of expensive but felt we should go. (Paul going, too). Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Finished pack clothes & made arrangements, Cindy going to take care of Sam. Called neighbors & Judy. Have to take shower yet so better get to bed, 11:40 now!

Tuesday, June 18, 1991: Got up at 5:30, fed Sam & opened his door. Dressed, had juice, etc. Finished up suitcases & got ready to go, Nancy came about 6:30. Stopped for Linda & Megan, then Paul. Took quite a while to get our tickets, plane overbooked so not sure if we were going to go but finally made it. Only 1 vacant seat on plane so Paul got to sit by the window. Were a little late in leaving but on time rest of the way. Mark & Megan met us in Peoria, got sleepy on way to Fairbury. Changed clothes & went up to funeral home for visitation, lots of people came through. I finally went & stood in line, too, saw lots of people I knew & some relation, too. Had lunch ready for us at Rosie’s afterwards & all came down here. Judy & I slept in the Motor Home, really slept good. Got up at 6:00.

Wednesday, June 19, 1991: Came in & got washed, brushed teeth. Had roll & coffee, got dressed & ready to go to funeral. Was at their church, nice service. Leona looked so nice & very natural, she is buried next to Grandma. After the cemetery we went back to church for dinner, had ham, cheese, all kinds of salads, fruit & cakes, etc., coffee. Was surely good. Afterwards went back to Rosie & Ralphs; Alice & Al, Marie, Clyde & Donna came later, also Sam & Norma a while. Was sleepy so finally went in & took a nap, felt much better after that. Rosie fixed supper & we ate, lots & lots of food brought in. Sam’s leaving for Arkansas (I think) in morning. All tired so went to bed early. I unpacked suitcases & writing in diary. Nearly 12:00.

Thursday, June 20, 1991: Woke during night, back to sleep. Woke again about 8:00, got up & made bed. Went out & had coffee & roll. All left except Alice & I, washed & dressed & fixed face. Helped Alice empty dishwasher, shook rugs, watered petunia hanging basket in front, scratch roasting pan clean, etc. Sat around & visited, then laid down & had a nap again. When I got up every one gone. At 10 to 4:00 Rosie came & took me down to Betty Hetherington & had my hair washed & set. Rosie came & got me & then we sat & talked again. Had a couple of drinks. Mark & Mary Jo came in a little bit, they went down & got Marie. We had a light supper, then sat & talked again. Went to bed about 12:00. I fell asleep writing in my diary. Turned out my light at 2:25.

Got real cloudy & thundered this eve but no rain. Friday, June 21, 1991: Woke about 8:15, finished writing in diary. Got up & had roll & coffee, then took shower & dressed. Alice went to have her hair done so I was alone for a while. Folded up Paul’s bed, cleared table, put dishes in dishwasher, made my bed. Alice & Karen came, then Rosie & Becky. She fixed lunch & we all ate, then Rosie went to have her hair done. ^{^Alice &} I cleared up again, loaded dishwasher & Becky turned it on. We watched A.W. & St. B., changed clothes to go down to Maries. Left for Pontiac about 4:30, ate at The Log Cabin. Had salad, baked chicken, mashed pot. & gravy, coffee & rolls. Very good. Went to Wal-Mart & got a few things. Came back to Fairbury & drove around a little, stopped at R&Rs & visited & watched ball game. Kay & Rod came, also Margies girls & Becky & friend. R&R came home, soon went to bed.

Saturday, June 22, 1991: Woke about 7:30, got up about 8:00. Went out & had coffee & roll, Alice & Al getting ready to leave. Left about 9:00-9:30, Rosie & I sat & talked all morning. Washed & dressed, didn’t do much of anything. Had lunch, late in afternoon called to see if Marie wanted to come down. Went to get her, cloudy all day & much cooler. Paul & Ralph went to races, we had soup & sandwiches, potato salad, etc. Margie & Pam came in so Rosie gave her some of the food, maybe she’ll get rid of it yet. Jane & Carl called, came in for a while; took Marie home when they left. Ralph made some popcorn & they looked for ball scores, Cubs lost again. To bed at 12:00.

Sunday, June 23, 1991: Woke & went to bathroom about 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again about 7:30, read & dozed a little. Got up about 8:30, had coffee & rolls. After a while washed & dressed, made bed. Looked at funnies, visited. Donna called, said they would be up about 3-4. Had lunch, helped Rosie fold towels, etc. Clyde, Donna & Ricks came & later on Carol & Donnie. I scrubbed potatoes while they looked thru’ house. Ralph fixed steaks, Rosie baked potatoes. Surely were good. Never did get out to Margies. Cleared table & Rosie did dishes, visited. Clydes went home about 9:00. We sat around a while, then to bed. 11:11.

Monday, June 24, 1991: Woke during night, back to sleep. Woke again about 7:00, read & dozed a little. Got up about 8:30, had coffee & roll. Took shower, dressed. Packed suitcases, Marie came by to say goodbye. Paul went out to tell Mark goodbye, Rosie & Ralph came home for dinner. They went back to shop for a while, came home about 2:30 & we left for Peoria. Didn’t have too much time when we got there, flew in a F 57-500, 2-prop engines. Got to Chi right on time, had quite a ways to walk to get to our gate. Left Chi. right on time & got in to Boise a little early, had a good supper on plane. Nancy, Mike, Cindy, Linda & Megan there to meet us. Good to be home. Looked at some mail, also pix. To bed at 12:35.

Tuesday, June 25, 1991: Woke during early morning, back to sleep. Again at 7:30, read a little. Got up at 8:30, fed Sam. Opened his door, dressed & went outside to work. Saw Jan & her mother, they had to put Schottsie to sleep. Started watering flower bed, got it done by late P.M. Had breakfast, picked a few berries – more out there. Watered violets, didn’t get them finished. Had lunch, watched VCR. Watched Soaps, paid phone & power bills. Reconciled bank statements, never did get a nap. Linda called, reminded me of Cindy’s ball game so I changed & went down to watch it – they won. Got sugar on way home, had supper. Did dishes, went in to watch VCR. Slept through quite a bit of it. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:15. Fixed shade in front.

Wednesday, June 26, 1991: Woke early, back to sleep. Woke again about 8:15, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, got dressed. Went out & picked berries, raspberries ripening too. Came in & had breakfast, finished watering violets. Planted petunias in hanging planter, hung on plum tree. Worked outside a little more, washed & put up my hair. Had lunch, planted other hanging planter w/petunias. Started to water other flowers, took nice long nap. Got in mail & paper, dug dandelions & cut old blooms off peonies. Moved big planter back to tree stump. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR a while, got groc. list ready – have to go to Dr. tomorrow. Also go to VBS tomorrow afternoon. Brushed teeth, to bed at 1:00.

Thursday, June 27, 1991: Woke at 6:45, had diarrhea & didn’t feel very good. Felt better after a while, fed Sam & opened his door. Took shower & dressed, had breakfast. Set timer on VCR, finished getting ready. Left for Nampa about 9:30, didn’t have to wait long. Dr. said I seem to be fine, have to call in Mon. for results of blood tests & chest X-ray. Came back to Caldwell & had salad at McDs., went to Bank, then to church for VBS. Helped w/tie dyeing T-shirts first, then Matt & Kevin w/crafts for little ones. Done at 3:00, went to P.W. Drug & then Paul’s for groc. Got home at 4:40, unloaded & put away groc. Ate a little supper, set VCR timer again & went to Cindy’s ball game – real chilly. Got home about 8:00, soaked my feet & watched TV. Judy called, also read paper. Watched VCR but fell asleep so brushed my teeth & went to bed. __12:30.

Friday, June 28, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:15, got up & fed Sam. Watched VCR a while, then opened his door. Dressed, had breakfast. Fixed, washed & sugared S. berries, washed & sugared raspberries. Called Linda, decided to go down & help w/VBS this afternoon. Finished watering flowers, washed & changed clothes. Got ready & went down to church, helped w/tie-dyeing again – then went up & helped Matt & Kevin w/crafts. Went down & helped Mike’s class w/crafts, then home. Stopped at Travel Ser. on way home. Watched TV, took nap. Took Cindy to ball game, they won their 1st game – 22-2. Lost the second one, first game they lost all season. Play tomorrow at noon. Fixed supper when I got home, watched River Float Parade. Read paper, to bed at 1:00.

Saturday, June 29, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:15, got up & fed Sam. Cloudy & overcast, watched VCR a while. Opened Sam’s door, raining. Dressed, called Paula but no answer. Called Jacque & talked for quite a while, said “Hi” to Kayce. She’s doing O.K., rest of family too – Peggy had surgery. Also Pete had same surgery as Paula some time ago. Read papers on table & opened mail, really raining hard so ball games were called. Had B-B-Q & awards ceremony at noon at band shell. Cindy brought her awards over to show me, they’re really pretty. Rinsed dishes & ran dishwasher, had brunch at noon. Vacuumed living room, also kitchen. Tried Paula again & got busy signal, hung up & the phone rang & it was her. Must have E.S.P. Got supper, read old papers & watched TV. Then VCR again. Brushed teeth – to bed at 1:30.

Year ½ over. Sunday, June 30, 1991: Woke about 7:00, back to sleep till 8:00. Got up & fed Sam, washed & dressed. Opened his door, had breakfast. Finished getting ready for church, left at 10:00. Nancy, Cindy & Mike not there this morning, up at Crouch. Got a few groc. at Paul’s on way home, also flower for Ila. Went up to see her, having lot of pain today she said. Got home about 1:00, changed clothes. Had toast & coffee, watched painting. Emptied dishwasher, cleaned chicken. Put chicken in to cook part way, then put sauce on. Carla came, we made plans for 4th of July. Going to her place. Finished getting supper, we ate. Tried to call Linda to ask them over for supper but no answer. Carla left after supper, I cleared up. Did dishes, Nancy & Cindy got home. Looked at paper, watched TV. Watched VCR & napped. To bed at 1:30.

Go to Sand Dunes, Shoshone Falls, etc. Wednesday, May 1, 1991: Woke at 5:15, forgot to turn off el. blanket & turn down heat last night so was thoroughly uncomfortable. Read paper till 5:45, got up & dressed. Fed Sam, opened his door. Finished getting ready, had breakfast. Turned on VCR, flipped circ. breakers, left Sam’s door open, called Nancy. Left about 6:45, stopped at Alb. for film but they didn’t open till 7:00. Went down & picked up Judy, came back & got film. Drove over to Sears parking lot, bus came so we locked up car & got on bus. Left at 7:30, went thru’ Nampa, Melba, Grandview, Bruneau down to the Dunes. Then on to Twin Falls, had lunch at Bible Baptist Ch. Cold cuts for sandwiches chips, crax, veggies, fruit & cookies. Was all real nice, went on down to Shoshone Falls. Very little water coming over Falls, some scenery, tho! Came back thru’ Hagerman Valley, lots of springs running. Napped on way home, got to Caldw. at 6:00. Judy asked me to go with her to their church supper, was very good. Came home, got in mail & paper. Looked at mail, watched TV. Went to choir practice at 8:20, home by 9:35. Watched VCR. Washed & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50. Have to get up at 7:00 tomorrow, go to dentist.

Had roses from Meg & Cindy on my doorstep when I got home – also some other flowers. Thursday, May 2, 1991: Woke at 6:15, (had alarm set for 7:00). Read a while, got up at 6:45. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, took shower. Dressed, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, left at 8:45. Had to wait a few min., Took me 1 ½ hrs. of drilling, etc., never hurt except for the shot & that wasn’t bad. Went to Dr Chens & they straightened my glasses, feel better. Then to Coast to Coast, to P.W. Drug for med., King’s for bark, etc., Albertsons for pansies & snaps, then to Pauls for groc. & home. Home about 1:30, unloaded bark (Jan helped me). Unloaded groc., etc., put away. Watched VCR, was a little shaky after I got out of dentists. Cindy stopped by to see me, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Judy called, didn’t get to see end of Father D. Watched VCR again, read paper & watched TV. “ “ [VCR again] To bed at 1:00.

Friday, May 3, 1991: Woke at 5:00, turned heat up a little & went back to sleep. Woke at 6:00 & at 7:00, read & dozed. Got up at 8:00, fed Sam & opened his door. Watched VCR till 9:00, dressed. Washed & put up hair, had breakfast. Read paper, watched TV. Tried to call Linda but no answer, changed shoes & went for my walk. When I got back went out & finished cutting up trimmings & put in garbage. Came in & had lunch, read rest of paper. Watered & fertilized violets, also other flowers. Didn’t get finished, got sleepy so took nap. Went out & trimmed rest of berries, worked on yellow rose bush,  other dead rose bush, quack grass by fence & trimmed ^{^little} birch trees. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, looked at mail & paper & watched TV. (Last Dallas tonight – J.R. committed suicide). Fixed berries, went in & watched VCR. To bed at 1:30.

Beautiful day! Saturday, May 4, 1991: Woke at 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:00, read & napped till 8:00. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Opened his door, watched VCR till 9:00. Dressed, had breakfast. Vacuumed living room & kitchen, finished watering ^{^Afr.} violets. Went for my walk, when I got back went out & trimmed back yard. Brought tiny white lilac home & planted it, hope it grows. Came in to rest & Cindy came to mow, I went out & put new bark around trees in front. Cindy finished so I paid her & she left, Had some lunch, went in & tried to watch VCR & Hee Haw but mostly napped. Cleaned & vacuumed bath, finished kitchen. Started on dining room, had to quit & get supper. Got in mail. After supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher, worked X-words & watched TV. Watched VCR, soaked feet while I watched news & Austin City Limits. Shut back door, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Sunday, May 5, 1991: Woke at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Went in & watched VCR until 8:00, opened Sam’s door. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Finished getting ready. Left for church at 10:00, had coffee & cookie after. Voter’s meeting but we didn’t stay, got home about 12:00. Planted pansies in front planter, sat down to watch painting & read paper. Got sleepy so took a short nap, Carla came. Got ourselves together & went down to recital, heard Megan & about a dozen other kids play. They were very good. Afterward went to Olgas for supper, Carla left for home about 6:00. I watched TV, read paper. Went in & watched VCR, napped. To bed at 1:00.

Monday, May 6, 1991: Woke at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, went in & watched VCR a while. Opened Sam’s door, dressed. Went out & planted snaps & pansies, transplanted some little snaps. Put water on flower bed, pulled some sunflowers. Came in & had breakfast, Watered rest of flowers inside. Worked on iris bed, tried to call Linda & went for my walk. Had lunch, laid down & slept for about an hour. Cleaned chicken, called & talked to Linda. Went out & worked on iris bed again, looks so much better. Got in mail & paper, got supper & ate. Did dishes, Judy called. Looked at mail & Globe, watched TV. Cooked chicken, went in & watched MacGyver on VCR & napped. Got ready for bed, brushed teeth. To bed at 1:10.

Tuesday, May 7, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:15, got up & fed Sam. Went in & watched VCR till 9:00, Ila called to borrow some catfood. When she came over for it I ordered some Fuller items from her, she was so happy! Got dressed, had breakfast. Sorted a few papers, then went out & worked in iris bed. Took out garbage, hauled cans to front. Tried to call Linda but no answer, went for my walk alone. Had lunch when I got home, worked on papers. Got sleepy so napped, worked on iris again. Have bed over ½ cleaned out, nice arbor vitae growing in there about 6” high. Got in mail & paper, fixed supper & ate. Did dishes, Judy called. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30. Cloudy & windy tonite.

Wednesday, May 8, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, raining. Got up, fed Sam. Watched VCR a while, called Linda & agreed to meet for lunch. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Got groc list & deposit ready, finished getting ready. Paid some bills, left about 12:15. Paid water bill, went to Bank, to P.W. Drug, then to Coffee Cup to meet Linda. Had lunch, really rained off & on all day. Went to Paul’s for groc. & flowers, got home about 3:30. Unloaded groc. & put away, took nap. Went in & watched VCR, got in mail & paper. Got supper at 6:00, b-b-qued chicken, was very good. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Went in & watched VCR, then news, VCR again. To bed at 12:25.

Thursday, May 9, 1991: Woke about 5:45, back to sleep till 7:15. Got up at 7:30, turned up heat & fed Sam. Watched VCR till 9:00, opened Sam’s door. Dressed, had breakfast. Finished last night’s paper, Helen F. came, spent quite a white going thru’ book, etc.; so cold & windy I didn’t go for walk. Washed load of colored clothes before lunch, had shake for breakfast & lunch. Watched TV, read old papers. Took nap, finished papers. Put on two sweaters, went out & worked in iris bed. Nearly all of W. end cleaned out now, have some berry plants to move. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, forgot to run dishwasher. Judy called, forgot to record L.A. LAW. Read paper, watched TV. Dried clothes in washer. Watched VCR, fell asleep. Brushed teeth. To bed at 2:35.

Friday, May 10, 1991: Woke at 5:45, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:15, dozed until 8:20. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Watched VCR a while, opened Sam’s door. Dressed, washed & put up hair. Had breakfast, had Shake for breakfast & lunch. Tried to finish last night’s paper, called Linda but no answer. Went for my walk, cloudy & wind pretty cold. Brought in mail when I got home, looked at mail. Wrote several checks, had lunch. Finished paper, took nap. Went out & pulled some sunflowers, worked in iris bed. Got in paper, got supper & ate. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. After News watched Matlock on VCR, napped a little. Worked on Globe X-word. To bed at 12:55.

Saturday, May 11 1991: Woke about 7:00, sun shining. Went back to sleep, woke again about 8:30. Cloudy & began to rain, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, opened his door. Dressed, had Shake. Worked on dining table, called Linda & we went for our walk. Sure nice to have someone to walk with. Called & talked to Paula in A.M., they’re coming over tomorrow. Had lunch when I got back, veggies. Planted petunias in bowl in front, also planters on patio. Cleaned out big planter in front & put it on stump, planted petunias in it, too. Washed load of old colored clothes, straightened up & swept laundry room. Changed cat box, vacuumed living room, kitchen, dining room, sm. bath. Dried clothes, folded & put away. Got supper, watched VCR. Did dishes, Carla called. Nancy was over a little in afternoon, too wet to mow. Watched TV, looked at mail. Took shower. To bed at 12:45. Cut toenails on L. foot.

MOTHER’S DAY. Sunday, May 12, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:45, got up & fed Sam. Washed & dressed, brushed teeth. Opened Sam’s door, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, left about 10:00. Cloudy & raining early this A.M., sun shining when we left church. Youth had charge of service this morning & was very good. Had coffee & cookies after church, got home about 12:30. Finished cleaning up house, Paula called. Brought Judy over with them, so she went to supper with us, too. Carla & Bill came, Bill put billbug control on lawn. Went to eat about 4:30 or 5:00, ate at Olgas & had good meal. Started to rain just as we left. When we got up to the house everybody played “farkle” & then “31”. Carla & Bill left soon after we got home, rest at 10:00. I watched TV, just don’t care for games. Watched news & then VCR, “FUNNIEST VIDEOS”. Got basket w/flowers from Nancy, blouse & hanger from Linda & N. gown from Carla – all very pretty & beautiful cards!

Monday, May 13, 1991: Woke about 6:00, couldn’t go back to sleep so got up & fed Sam. Cloudy & raining again, went in & watched VCR until 8:00. Called from Dentist’s office about appt. tomorrow, opened Sam’s door. Dressed, had shake for breakfast, O.J. & coffee. Started to water Afr. violets, washed load of good white clothes. Tried to call Linda but no answer, didn’t walk as it was raining real hard. Went down & moved all clothes from rack, painted rest of ceiling & wall. All done now, quite a feeling of accomplishment. Surely does look nice. Had shake for lunch, went back down & put clothes back. Did some mending, took out garbage. Hauled cans to front, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Dried white clothes, folded & put away. Read paper, watched TV. Judy called. Still have more violets to water. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Tuesday, May 14, 1991: Woke little before 6:00, went back to sleep till alarm rang at 6:30. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Sunny but cold wind blowing. Washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Appt. at 9:00, got there a little early. They took off temp. crown but didn’t like the way this one fit so had to order another one, I’m supposed to go back May 28. From there went to Parks & Rec. Dept. & paid rest of trip, to P.W. Drug, to Albertsons for more flowers. Went to Paul’s for groc. & more flowers, then home (about 1:20). Brought in groc. & put away, had lunch (shake). Took nap, worked on Globe X-word. About 5:15 I took my salad & went down to J.J.H.S. to the orchestra dessert social. Heard all the kids play. Got home from that about 9:00, watched VCR & napped. To bed at 12:50. No rain today.

Wednesday, May 15, 1991: Woke at 6:00, back to sleep till 7:30. Got up & fed Sam, opened his door. Watched VCR a while, dressed. Had shake for breakfast, finished watering violets. Went out & planted pansies in big planter in front. Tied up peony bush, pulled weeds & worked in peony bed. Tried to call Linda but no answer, went for my walk & saw Nancy. She’s still voiceless. When I got back had another shake, watched TV. Read paper, worked big X-word. Went out & planted petunias in hanging baskets on patio, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. After news watched VCR. Brushed teeth, to bed at 1:20. Glued lamp shade for bedside lamp in my room today, hope it holds.

8 years since Daddy is gone. Thursday, May 16, 1991: Woke early, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:10, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, watched VCR a while. Dressed, had Shake for breakfast. Went out & planted more flowers, cleaned grass out of peony bed. Tied up some of peonies, planted some geraniums. Went for my walk, fixed two boquets of lilacs & bridal wreath for Jay & Daddy & took them over. When I got back had another Shake for lunch, finished watering rest of flowers. Put white clothes to soak, finished paper. Went out & planted tomatoes, pulled sunflowers. Transplanted some, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Ran dishwasher, soaked my feet. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR a little. To bed at 12:50. Judy called, spun white clothes out of rinse.

Friday, May 17, 1991: Woke early, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:55, really raining! Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened Sam’s door, watched VCR a while. Dressed, washed & put up my hair. Had Shake, read paper. Michelle called to ask if I could stay w/kids, David having trouble at school. Still raining so I couldn’t walk. Went down & looked for Linda & Ted’s wedding pix, couldn’t find them. Found velcro for belt. Had Shake again for lunch, transplanted 2 Xmas cacti into big pot. Will transplant other one as soon as it gets thru’ blooming. Planted rest of pansies, snapdragons, not raining very much by 5:00. Washed load of white clothes, dried part. Got in mail & paper, ordered blue top set today. Got supper, ate. Read paper, watched TV. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. After news went in & watched VCR. Brushed teeth, to bed at 1:40. Called Nancy this afternoon.

Tornado warnings down around Rupert this afternoon. Saturday, May 18, 1991: Woke at 7:45, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, sunny but soon clouded up & rained again in P.M. Called Nancy about going to Boise, Mike called later & said they’d like to go about noon. I dressed & went out & trimmed in front & back & along driveway. Rained in P.M. so never did get it mowed. Took shower, got ready to go to Boise. Had O.J., coffee & toast. Left about 12:15. Went to Best but they didn’t have too much there, went to Club _____, Mike found what he wanted there…. Went to Boise Towne Square, got sandwich & drink. Went to trailer supply place for Paul, then home, Got here about 4:45, watched little of Hee Haw. Got supper, did dishes. Watched TV, read paper. Went in & watched Perry on VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45.

Sunday, May 19, 1991: Woke early – still dark, back to sleep. Woke again at 6:30, finally read & napped till 8:00. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, had breakfast. Washed & dressed, got ready for church. Left at 10:00, alternating cloudy & sunny in A.M. Nancy & Cindy not there today, went down for coffee hour. Came straight home from church, home at 12:45. Changed clothes, watched painting. Had coffee & toast, got sleepy & just going to put my head down when Carla came. We looked thru’ old calendars, sat & talked. About 4:00 I started supper, ate about 5:00. Started to look rainy so I called & had Cindy come over & mow, looks nice – glad that’s done again. Carla left at 6:00. I did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Then went in & watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55. Nose feels kind of funny – hope I’m not catching cold.

Monday, May 20, 1991: Woke early, went back to sleep. Woke again at 7:45, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, watched VCR a while. Decided to just take it easy today – am catching a cold. Started to work on bank statements. Had breakfast, Paula called. Went back to statements, one still missing but got balance up to date, What a relief! Was about 6 mo. behind. Took me all day to do all statements. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, watched TV. Read paper, Judy called & I called Paula again about graduation. After news watched VCR again. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Tuesday, May 21, 1991: Woke early, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, got up at 7:45. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Went in & watched VCR for a while. Dressed, had Shake. Paid tel. bill, also insurance bill & mailed them. Took out garbage, wheeled cans to front. Warm & sunny today, pulled some sunflowers. Called Linda but no answer, didn’t walk as I felt sort of weak. Watched VCR again, had shake for lunch. Worked on pink blouse, cleaned lint off red sweater. Worked on old papers & bank statements, went out & cleaned out grass, etc., in peony bed. Got in mail & paper, wheeled garbage cans back. Got supper & ate, did dishes. Ran dishwasher, read paper & watched TV. Then watched VCR again, napped. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45. 

Wednesday, May 22, 1991: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke again at 7:45, went in & watched VCR for a while. Opened Sam’s door, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, got deposit, groc. list, etc., ready. Finished getting ready, went downtown. Went to Bank first, then to P.W. Drug, got groc. at Pauls, then home. Got a lily at Paul’s for Jay’s B’day so took it over on way home. Unloaded groc., put away most of stuff. Called Jan & we took Goldie down for her shots, she was so good. Called Linda, decided to go to choir practice even tho’ I do have this cold. Watched VCR a little, got in mail & paper. Got supper, went to choir practice. Home about 9:00. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:20.

Mike’s Graduation – Jay’s Birthday. Thursday, May 23, 1991: Woke early, then went back to sleep. Telephone woke me at 7:10, it was dentist’s office calling. Wanted me to come in at 9:30 to get my new crown put on. I got right up, fed Sam. Opened his door, took shower & dressed. Got ready to go, too early so I emptied dishwasher. Also had breakfast. Called Linda & told her. Crown fit O.K. this time so got it fixed. Stopped at M&W on way home, got gas. Home about 11:00, watched VCR – Wheel & Concentration. Had lunch, Linda came & we went to Boise. Got home about 4:00, really warm today. Watched VCR a while, changed & got ready for graduation. Had supper, Carla came about 7:00 so we went to exercises. Saw Mike graduate – made me cry a little – if only Jay & Grandpa could have been there. Came up to Nancy’s afterwards for D.Q. ice cream cake – was very good. Mike left & then the rest, too, so Carla & I did too. I watched VCR a while. To bed at 1:15.

Friday, May 24, 1991: Sam woke me about 6:55, fed him. Went in & watched VCR a while, felt weak & in a cold sweat so didn’t wash my hair. Put away some clothes, opened Sam’s door. Finished emptying dishwasher, had breakfast. Worked on blouse, put Velcro on white belt. Helen F. came, took a while with her. After she left I went out & took down storm windows, washed & put up screens. Need to put up shades tomorrow. Had lunch, started watering Afr. violets. Pulled a few sunflowers. Called & talked to Linda a little bit, went out about 5:00 & dug more grass from front flower bed. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Judy called & talked quite a while. Did dishes, then watched VCR again. Fixed, washed & sugared strawberries. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:15. Sneezing like crazy again. Wind blowing tonight & thundered a while ago.

Saturday, May 25, 1991: Woke at 6:30, fed Sam. Back to sleep till 8:20, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, washed & put up hair. Was kind of chilly so turned up heat a little, dried my hair & finished Globe X-word. Had breakfast, finished watering violets & watered rest of flowers. Cleared off dining table, Judy called. Cooler & wind blowing today, hope it doesn’t freeze tonight. Vacuumed living room & hall, sat down & watched VCR a while. Linda & Ted came over, borrowed my spreader. Vacuumed kitchen, also dining room. Got in mail, fixed supper & ate. Got in meat from freezer, did dishes. Went in & watched VCR again, watched news & read Thurs. paper. Napped a little, watched Austin City Limits, etc. Throat awfully sore & sneezing & runny nose again. Don’t think I’ll go to church tomorrow, probably couldn’t sing anyway. To bed at 12:10.

Sunday, May 26, 1991: Woke a number of times during night & in morning, throat still pretty raw & voice bad. Slept till about 8:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Fed him & turned up heat, chilly again. Had breakfast, washed & dressed. Linda called to see how I was, left sinus really hurting & into upper jaw bone, especially when I bent over. Later started to drain so quit hurting, yellow sticky drainage. Read Thurs. & Fri. papers, bundled up a sack full for church. Vacuumed in bath room, E. end of dining room, sm. bath & utility. Had toast for lunch, Cindy came over to mow so I moved the car out. Pulled a bunch of sunflowers, watered E. end of lower bed – pretty dry. Got in paper, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:25.

MEMORIAL DAY Monday, May 27, 1991: Woke at 6:20, fed Sam. Went back to sleep till 8:15, got up & turned up heat. Head still bothering me, opened Sam’s door. Washed & dressed, put out flag. Had breakfast, took petunia baskets over to Daddy & Jay’s graves about 9:00. Just didn’t feel up to doing any others so Paula fixed one for Lee & that was all we did. Made my bed, Paula & Jim came. They went down to get Judy & take her out to Eddie’s grave so I fixed a boquet for Paula to take out there. I put my meat on the rotisserie (1:15), Linda & Ted came over for flowers. Paula, Jim & Judy came back, Judy & I visited while meat cooked. She got sleepy & took nap, I just dozed off & Carla came. Meat got done about 3:15 so took it over to Nancy’s, when everyone got there we ate. Was all very good. Everybody played “31”, (I just watched “) all went home about 9:00. I read paper, watched TV. Set up vaporizer, to bed at 12:20. Hope it breaks up my cold; I’m getting tired of this.

Tuesday, May 28, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep. Again at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, watched VCR till 9:00. dressed, had breakfast. Read papers, then went out & worked on grass, weeds, etc., in peony bed. Got it all cleaned out, planted petunias. Pulled some sunflowers, watered end of flower bed. Came in & rested, had lunch. Got sleepy so napped, finished papers. Went back out & pulled sunflowers again, watered some more. Clipped old tops of chrysanthemums in back, cleaned out leaves. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, made gravy. Read paper, watched TV. After news watched VCR, cleared another tape. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45. Cold seems a little better tonight but still have it in my voice box.

Wednesday, May 29, 1991: Woke about day break, fed Sam. Went back to sleep till 7:45, got up & let Sam out. Turned up heat, washed & dressed. Took out garbage, hauled cans to front. Talked to Linda, decided not to go to choir practice – voice still in bad shape. Had breakfast, got groc. list & bank deposit, etc., ready. Finished getting ready, left about 1:00. Took pix to Albertsons, got more flowers, went to Bank, to P.W. Drug for meds., paid Power bill, got few things at M&W, then to Paul’s for rest of groc. Got home little before 4:00, unloaded car. Put away groc., napped from about 5:15 till 5:50. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Went in & watched VCR (cleared another tape), did dishes. Called Judy, looked at mail & read paper. To bed at 1:30. Head feeling better finally but still congestion in my voice box & lungs a little. Surely glad when it’s all gone. Rain again tonight.

Thursday, May 30, 1991: Woke while still dark, read till I went back to sleep. Woke at 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, opened his door. Watched VCR a while, dressed. Went out & picked up chrysanthemum clippings. Cleaned out leaves, trimmed lilacs & put away clippings. Came in & had breakfast, talked to Linda. Went back out & trimmed pink rose, got it nearly all trimmed out. Came in & was just getting ready for lunch when Steve ____, Ins. salesman, came, was here all afternoon. Sent in application for different Nursing Home care policies, cheaper & better, I believe. He left about 4:00, I went out & put in another stake by small tree. Wired it up, planted glad bulbs. Brought in mail & paper, also garbage cans back. Washed & changed clothes, got ready to go – Judy called about 5:10! We went to Chuck Wagon, Judy got a free dinner. Was all very good. Afterwards drove out to cemetery & got Paula’s bouquet. Then drove on out to the lake & across Dam, back thru’ Sunny Slope. After I got home watched VCR, also news. Cleared another tape. To bed at 1:00, no nap today. Called Nancy about Paul’s birthday.

Friday, May 31, 1991: Woke about daylight, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke at 7:45, got up & turned up heat. Opened Sam’s door, dressed. Planted petunias, marigolds & silver plants in one planter. Had breakfast, worked on papers. Went out & finished trimming rose (pink) by back fence, cleaned out grass, etc. around flowering quince. Pulled sunflowers in flower bed by house, worked till one. Came in & had lunch, worked on other planter (petunias, marigold & silver plants. Put planters on N. side of garage so sprinklers will water them. Took nap, went out & worked on sun flowers again – nearly finished that flower bed. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Changed clothes, went over to Nancy’s for cake for Paul’s birthday. Played game of 31, home about 10:00. Watched TV & VCR, brushed teeth. To bed at 1:30.

Monday, April 1, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:10, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, opened his door. Got dressed, called Dr. Chan’s office. They said to bring glasses down & they would see what they could do with them, got few groc. at M&W. Got home after 12:00 so didn’t walk. Went out & cleaned off part of flower bed early in A.M., planted one rose. Came in & had breakfast, changed clothes & went to Dr. Planted other rose when I got home. Came in & had lunch. Got sleepy & took nap, Linda called & said Ted’s Mom died this afternoon. Cindy came so I told her, then Nancy called. Cindy bro’t in mail & paper. I watched VCR a while, then got supper. Watched again a while, emptied dishwasher. Called Carla & Paula, did dishes. Watched VCR again, fixed berries. To bed at 2:05.

Tuesday, April 2, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to sleep till 8:30, read till 9:00. Got up & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Raining lightly. Had breakfast, read paper a little. Planted primrose, cooked macaroni for salad. Got oven ready for cake, went for my walk. Really nice out. Baked cake when I got back, had lunch. Ted called about title for Pickup & I looked for it but couldn’t find it, can’t imagine what has happened to that folder. Called Linda & she said it’s not over there. Got sleepy so took little nap, iced cake & mixed up salad. Got ready to take food over to Lindas when they called from Dr’s office, had to go down & get my glasses. About 5:45 when I got home. Got in mail & paper, Judy called. Got supper, read paper & watched TV. Did dishes, then watched VCR & napped. Brushed teeth. To bed at 2:00. Have to make jello salad for Friday.

Wednesday, April 3, 1991: Woke about 6:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to sleep till 7:30, read & dozed a little. Got up at 9:00, called & talked to Linda a little. Had breakfast, opened Sam’s door. Washed & dressed, got groc. list ready. Left for town about 12:30, went to Franklins & paid oil bill. Ordered flowers at Kay’s Bouquets, to P.W. Drug & paid Id. Power & P.W. Drug bill, then to Paul’s for groc. Home about 2:20, unloaded & put away groc. Ted called about truck title, then called back right away & said he found it. Boy! was I relieved! I watched TV & read paper, took nap. Then watched DoL on VCR, got supper. Got in mail & paper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR again. Worked Globe X-word. To bed at 12:10.

MEG & TED’S BIRTHDAY. Thursday, April 4, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again about 8:10, read a little. Got up & dressed, washed & put up my hair. Turned up heat, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, Judy called. Got Ted & Meg’s cards ready, called Linda. Went for my walk, took cards along & dropped them off at Lindas. Had lunch when I got home, took nap. Started my salad, got it put together except for cheese & whipped cream. Put in fridge to set, got in mail & paper. Made dressing for crab salad, fixed supper & ate. Finished up salad, went in & watched VCR. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Carla called, also Nancy. Cindy wants to go to funeral so I’ll pick her up at school. I called Paula, will meet her & Jim at church. Watched L.A. LAW on VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:25.

Friday, April 5, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep till 8:30. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, took shower & dressed. Called Judy, had breakfast. Washed load of colored clothes, dried part. Set VCR, got ready to go. Left shortly after 1:00, picked up Judy. Forgot I had a little lunch before I left. Went to Cindy’s school & picked her up, took salad & cookies from Judy. Flo took them downstairs. Waited for Paula & Jim, when they weren’t there by 20 till we went on in. Was a nice service, kind of long. Went on up to the cemetery, mostly family went up. Linda asked us if we would like to come down for the dinner, didn’t know what to say so we did. Afterwards took Judy home & came on home. Watched TV, read paper. Had a little lunch later, watched VCR. Brushed teeth to bed at 12:45.

Turn clocks up. Saturday, April 6, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep till 8:20. Got up, fed Sam & turned up heat. Alternately cloudy & sunny today, raining tonight & warm. Washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, did some telephoning. All decided to go out for supper tonight. Folded & put away clothes in dryer, washed load of whites. Dried those & put most away. Watched VCR a while, had lunch. Vacuumed living room, hall, kitchen & dining room. Went down to eat at Asia about 5:15, Carla was there but Bill & Paula & Jim didn’t make it. When we got back I came home, brought in mail. Watched TV & VCR. About 11:30 set clocks ahead for DST (darn nuisance!) Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55. D.S.T.

MATT GOES BACK. D.S.T. Sunday, April 7, 1991: Woke at 7:30 D.S.T., couldn’t go back to sleep so got up & watched VCR. Turned up heat & fed Sam, after that I got washed & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, dried rest of clothes. Folded, hung up & put away, had breakfast. Did dishes & cleaned out sink, finished getting ready. Left for Boise about 11:40, checked in to parking at 12:15. Saw Carla just as I came in, rest in gift shop. Went upstairs soon after I got there, Matt’s plane left right on time. From there we went to Pantry & had dinner, used our coupons. Linda & Ted, Nancy, Paul & Cindy went too, seemed funny not to have Matt, Mike & Megan there. Carla & I went on out to her place, rained snowed & blew on us. We sat & talked till I had to leave about 5:00, came up home & fixed my face & hair. Then back to church for my picture, home again by 6:20. Watched TV & read paper, then Funny Videos on VCR. To bed at 12:15 D.S.T.

Monday, April 8, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep till telephone woke me about 8:25. It was Judy, didn’t talk long. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Had breakfast, watered flowers. Also, started watering violets, watched VCR a while. Went for my walk at 12:00, Easter lily froze last night so I brought it home. When I got home cleaned up dog mess, cleaned out flower pot by steps. Had lunch, watered more violets. Checked Inc. tax forms, wrote checks & got them ready to mail. Took ^{soaked my feet} nap. Took out garbage, hauled can to front. Started cleaning out peony bed, lawn needs mowing. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, Judy called again. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR but kept falling asleep. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:30.

Tuesday, April 9, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & went back to bed. Read & napped till 8:30, got up & turned up heat. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Watched VCR a little, too cold to work outside. Had breakfast, read paper a little. Watered more violets, worked some on Globe X-word. At noon went for my walk, took umbrella along & it sprinkled on me. Put cage around another peony & cleared off a little more trash. Had lunch, sleepy so took a pretty good nap. Went downstairs & painted more of ceiling, just have a little corner left to do. Came up & got in mail & paper, brought garbage can back. Wind quite cold tonight. Got supper & ate, Judy called, also Leah. No choir tomorrow night, called Linda later on & told her. Did dishes & ran dishwasher, read paper & watched TV. Went in & watched VCR, slept through some of it. Finished paper, brushed teeth. To bed at 1:50.

Finished watering violets. Wednesday, April 10, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Read & went back to sleep till 8:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Didn’t feel very good (bladder problems) so started drinking soda water, got dressed. Had breakfast, decided not to go downtown. Called Linda, she didn’t have to work today. Decided not to walk either, didn’t feel much like it & wind pretty chilly. Just getting ready to eat lunch & Helen F. came. She’s giving up this route but can still sell to us. After she left I had lunch, worked on white dress. Still not feeling very well so went in to recliner & watched TV, fell asleep & didn’t wake up until 6:30. Was snowing for a little bit outside. Got supper, got in mail & paper. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Went in & watched VCR, the news, then VCR again. Finished paper, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40.

Cold & windy outside, had breakfast. Got groc. list ready. Washed & dressed, finished getting ready. Had sandwich, left for town about 1:15. Got gas, then groc. & home. Unloaded & put away groc., took nap. Watched VCR, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Judy called twice, order came from Mature Wisdom today – minus 3 items. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR, then news & VCR again. Wind still blowing. To bed at 1:15.

Friday, April 12, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep till 7:30. Dozed again until alarm on new clock went off, works real good. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Not feeling very well, got worse as the morning went on so finally took some SEPTRA. Laid back down a while, then got up & had breakfast. Opened Sam’s door, got dressed. Read papers, worked X-word. Worked on purple print dress, had lunch & another pill. Made me feel much better, went down & sewed – finished Ted’s pants, sewed my pants, purple dress, white dress; didn’t get it quite finished. Have to press them yet, also. Got supper & ate, did dishes. Got in mail & paper, read paper & watched TV. Then watched VCR. “Hunter.” Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Saturday, April 13, 1991: Woke at 3:30, back to sleep. Again at 7:30, read & napped. Got up about 8:30, feeling lots better but still can feel it a little & get tired easy. Fed Sam, opened his door. Had breakfast, took shower & dressed. Decided to trim yard w/weedeater in case they wanted to mow, found out Mike went up to Whitman College this weekend. Was pretty tired when I finished so rested & watched VCR, had lunch. Washed & put up hair, watched Hee-Haw. Looked at papers, got in mail. Got supper & ate, watched VCR. Did dishes & ran dishwasher, called Linda. Paula about the same, tried to call Judy but line busy. Then she called me. Watched VCR again, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Didn’t feel too good all day but believe better this eve. Sunday, April 14, 1991: Woke about 7:30, alarm set to go off at 8:00 so got up about 20 till. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Washed & dressed, opened his door. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Went out & got paper, looked at it a little. Left at 10:00, didn’t stay for coffee hour today. Stopped at Paul’s for milk but they didn’t have any so had to go back to Albertson’s. Home about 12:30, changed clothes. Washed turkey legs & put on to cook, watched painting & took nap. Made Jello, found I didn’t have any topping so made salad without it. Not bad. Carla came & we sat around & talked, then Cindy came up & mowed. Surely looks better. Mike got home __ from Whitman College. We ate supper about 5:00, Carla left about 6:00. I napped again, Linda came over & brought some things. Cleared table & emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Read paper & watched TV, then went in & watched VCR. Slept some more. To bed at 12:40.

Tax Day Monday, April 15, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, read & napped until I got up about 8:30. Fed Sam, turned up heat. ^Dressed. Opened his door, went out & started to trim rose bush. Came in & had breakfast, read paper a little & watched TV. Went back out & worked on rose bush, at noon went for my walk. When I got home had lunch & rested, got sleepy so took nap. Then went downstairs & finished sewing on white dress & pants, purple print dress & new blouse. Now need to press them. At 5:00 went out & finished front of rose bush, trimmed shrub in N.W. corner in front & cleaned out leaves. Took out garbage, hauled to front. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Judy called, I did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR for about an hour. Brushed teeth & washed face. To bed at 12:20.

Tuesday, April 16, 1991: Woke at 5:15, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:15, read a little but didn’t go back to sleep so got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, opened his door but raining out so he didn’t stay long. (And I turned on irrig. system last night!) Watched VCR for a while, dressed & had breakfast. Read papers on table, sleepy day so I took a nap. Tried to call Linda but no answer, raining pretty hard so I didn’t walk. Started to water violets, lots of them blooming – they’re so pretty. Had lunch, paid Jackson & Perkins & wrote them a letter. Mailed it, brought garbage cans back. Took another nap, stopped raining so went out about 4:00 & spread weeder & fertilizer in back. Hooked up hose & sprinkled it. Hope it helps! Then trimmed roses some, cleaned out under birch trees. Got in paper, got supper. Did dishes, read papers & watched TV. Went in & watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45.

Wednesday, April 17, 1991: Woke about 6:30, went back to sleep & didn’t wake till 8:15. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, raining out again so he didn’t think much of it. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Made up deposit, also groc. list. Tried to call Linda, no answer. Finished getting ready, set VCR. Backed out car, cleaned off back window. Shut back door & brought garbage can through, cleaned up mess on door. Left about 1:00, went to bank. Then to King’s, paid our deposit at Cald. Parks & Recr., went to P.W. Drug, to C. to C., got catfood, groc. at Paul’s, then home. Unloaded groc., etc., called Linda. No choir tonight I guess. Put away groc., got in mail & paper. Got supper & ate, did dishes. Read papers, watched TV. Then watched VCR. To bed at 12:50. (Ran dishwasher)

Thursday, April 18, 1991: Woke about 6:30, went back to sleep till 7:30. Couldn’t sleep any more so got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened Sam’s door, went in & watched VCR. Got dressed, trimmed rest of Paul’s Scarlet rose. Came in & had breakfast, read papers. Went out & started cleaning out iris bed, going to have to pull out a lot of that periwinkle as it is spreading all over iris bed. Quit at 12:00 & went for my walk, saw 4 herons & about 6 geese. Had lunch, watched TV & read more papers. Judy called, went outside about 5:00 & worked on iris bed again. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Cleared table, went in & watched VCR. Fixed strawberries this afternoon, washed broccoli. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:25.

Friday, April 19, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, dozed & read until 8:15. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Washed & put up hair, had breakfast. Read papers & watched TV a little, started to dust & clean in blue bedroom. Swept down walls & ceiling, changed shoes & went for my walk. I can make the mile & a half in about 40 minutes. Saw some herons & quite a few geese today, pulled dead daffodil flowers when I got back – for 10 min. Came in & changed shoes, rested & had lunch. Emptied dishwasher, made out order. Put away some things, got sleepy so took nap. Read more papers, went in & cleaned in bedroom again. Got in mail & paper, got supper & ate. Looked at mail, watched TV. Paula called, thinks maybe treatments have helped, says Dr. is encouraged. Did dishes, their walk/run is tomorrow. Read paper, after news watched VCR a while. To bed at 1:00.

Saturday, April 20, 1991: Woke at 5:30, again at 6:30. Back to sleep again till 7:30, read a little & then Megan called to ask if I could take her down to the library. Got dressed & took her down at 9:15 (she played at 9:30), she called at 9:40 for me to come & get her. Had breakfast, had turned up heat & opened Sam’s door when I got up. Watered flowers, cleared off dining table. Dusted & vacuumed living room, vacuumed bath, hall, kitchen, dining room & small bath. Worked on papers on kitchen table, cleaned off blue paper holder by TV. Made out Hanover House order & mailed it after Helen F. called about pale shelf for bath. Went over at 5:00 & got Meg, took her to Nampa to get some things for Linda at Christian Art & Book Supply. Got home at 6:00, got supper & ate. Did dishes, watched TV. Read old papers. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:15. Baked cake this eve. Tried to call Carla all day but never did get her.

Sunday, April 21, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep till alarm rang at 7:00. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Opened his door, had breakfast. Took shower & got ready for church. Left about 10:00, had communion today. Stopped at store on way home for milk, home about 12:30. Changed clothes, watched painting. Had lunch, while I was eating Carla came. I iced & decorated cake, Linda called & said Ted went golfing, they would be ready to go to eat about 5:00-5:30.Carla took Shari’s gift over, I cleaned off kitchen table. Then went in to watch VCR & fell asleep, guess Carla came back while I was asleep. Nancy called & said Cindy was home, then Linda called so we went to eat at Perkins. I paid for Carla & Meg’s, came home & had ice cream & cake. Ted home so he came over, too, then they played cards. I watched TV, they left about 10:00. After the news I watched VCR. To bed at 1:20.

Monday, April 22, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep till 8:10. Got up & turned up heat, opened Sam’s door. Watched VCR for a while, then dressed. Went out & planted glads, came in & had breakfast. Read papers till 11:00, then went out & trimmed shrubs in front. Then came in at 12:00 & went for my walk, tried to call Linda but no answer. Pulled more ^{^dead} daffodil flowers when I got back, came in & had lunch. Read paper a while but got sleepy so took a long nap, went downstairs & pressed clothes – Ted’s pants, my pants, dresses (2), blouse. Went out & cleaned up trimmings, pulled some sunflowers & swept ^{^drive} along flower bed. Planted snapdragons, took part of garbage to front. Came in & got supper, ate & then did dishes. Meant to call Paula but forgot, Judy didn’t call tonite. Read paper & watched TV, ran dishwasher. Watched VCR, napped. Brushed teeth, washed face. To bed at 1:30. Quite warm today. 

Tuesday, April 23, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:00, read a little. Got up & fed Sam, opened his door. Pretty warm so didn’t turn up heat, dressed. Called Linda & we went for a walk, nice to have someone to walk with. Taped “Wheel” & “Concentration” so watched it when I got back, had breakfast & worked on Globe X-word. Had taken out garbage & hauled cans to front before we walked, also pulled rest of old lily-of-valley stems. Emptied dishwasher, had lunch. Looked at old papers, got sleepy so took nap. Went out & planted 2 little flowers, then worked on iris bed again. Transplanted strawberries, got in mail & paper. Got supper & ate, did dishes. Read paper & watched TV, then went in & watched VCR. Napped some. To bed at 12:15. Warm tonite.

Wednesday, April 24, 1991: Woke at 3:30, back to sleep till 6:30. Read till I went back to sleep; finally got up about 8:30. Cloudy & raining. Fed Sam, opened his door. Turned up heat, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, made up deposit and groc. list. Called & talked to Linda, then finished getting ready to go downtown. Went over to Michelles & stayed w/little ones while she went down to school to get Daniel. Went to Bank first, then P.W. Drug, Paul’s for groc.; big dark cloud in north when I went in – thunder, wind & rain while I was inside. Also had a tornado in S.W. Caldwell & had one in Middleton also. Brought in groc. when I got home, called Vet’s. office & took Sam in for his shots. Said he is a little heavy & needs work on his teeth. Put away groc. when I got home, got in mail & paper. Watched VCR, got supper & ate. Did dishes, watched TV & looked at mail. Watched VCR again. To bed at 12:40.

Thursday, April 25, 1991: Woke at 7:30, Sam didn’t come in to sleep with me – stayed in the recliner all night & morning. Thought maybe he wasn’t feeling very well but seems all right tonight. Got up & turned up heat, opened Sam’s door. Watched VCR a while, got dressed. Fixed breakfast, just ready to eat when Helen F. came. Was here quite a while, then I ate breakfast & watched “Wheel” & “Concentration.” Went for my walk, wind was very cold. Took letters to mailbox, had lunch. Found 1st Sec. checkbook so reconciled bank statements, got sleepy so took nap. Worked on Ins. stuff, got Dr. bills & Med. forms ready to mail. Called & talked to Linda, got in mail & paper. Got supper & ate, Judy called. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Went in & watched L.A. LAW on VCR. Got ready for bed, brushed my teeth. To bed at 12:25.

Friday, April 26, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, went in & watched VCR a while. Got dressed, washed & put up hair. Dried hair, had breakfast. Read papers, sorted old papers. Called Linda, no answer. Went for my walk, wind still kind of cold. When I got home mailed letter, had lunch. Worked on papers rest of afternoon, emptied one sack. Found more insurance papers, 1990 medical folder & bank statements. Also took nap. Went out & got mail & paper, found white plastic off tree so had to put it back on. Pulled grass & dug dandelions in peony bed, found butterfly ornament broken also. Wish those kids would stay off my place & let my stuff alone. Looked at mail, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Called Paula, tried to call Judy but line was busy. Watched VCR a while, brushed my teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Saturday, April 27, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep till 7:30. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Watched VCR a while, opened Sam’s door. Called Judy, arranged to pick her up at 12:30 to watch parade. Took shower, dressed. Had breakfast, went out & trimmed around front yard. Didn’t have time for the back so came in & changed clothes, got ready. Picked up Judy & drove down to M&W, parade already going by so we watched it. Afterwards got few things. Went to KFC for lunch, then out to D&B for Judy’s trimmer. Had to leave it. Got home about 2:30, found the yard had been mowed so didn’t trim the back, took money down for Cindy & left it w/Mike. Watched VCR when I got home, got supper. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Looked at mail, watched TV. Then watched VCR again. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:20.

Sunday, April 28, 1991: Woke at 6:00, back to sleep till 7:00. Read & dozed until 8:00, got up & turned up heat. Fed Sam, washed & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, had breakfast. Finished getting ready for church, got in paper. Left about 10:00, Nancy & Cindy didn’t go to church or SS. Mike went to SS, he left for Calif. about noon. When I got home Nancy came over a little bit. I read paper, watched painting. Changed clothes, was about to take a nap when Carla came. We sat & talked for quite a while, then I got supper. Ate about 5:00, Carla left about 6:15. I cleared up, did dishes. Watched TV & read paper, soaked my feet for an hour and a half. Then I went in & watched VCR. Brushed my teeth, to bed at 12:30. Think Paula is coming tomorrow.

Monday, April 29, 1991: Woke at 6:00, back to sleep. Again at 7:00, Napped & read till 7:30, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, watched VCR a while. Put meat on to cook, fixed vegs. for stew. Had breakfast & watched TV. Paula came about 11:10, brought the doggies. Guess Sam was outside when they came because when we took them outside they came flying around the garage after Sam, when I looked for him finally found him on top of cat pole & he stayed there all day! Poor kitty. We started in on berries, I stopped about 12:30 & put vegs. in to cook. We ate about 1:30, then went out & worked on berries again. Got them almost all done, have a few in back yet & clippings to clean up. Came in & Paula cut my hair, then she left. Gave her the stew & some pudding. I got in mail & paper, had supper. Did dishes & ran dishwasher. Read paper & watched TV, then watched VCR. Brushed teeth, washed my face. To bed at 12:55. No nap today, NO walk either.

Tuesday, April 30, 1991: Woke at 6:30, read & napped a little. Got up at 7:30, turned up heat & fed Sam. Dressed, opened his door. Watched VCR a while, put up hair. Had breakfast, read papers. Went out & trimmed rest of berries in back, went for my walk. Took out rest of garbage & hauled to front in morning. Hauled cans back when I got home, pulled some sunflowers. Came in & had lunch, read old papers & watched TV. Got sleepy so took nap, read more papers. Called Linda, choir tomorrow night. Went out & cut up trimmings & put in garbage, didn’t get quite done. Got in mail & paper, set to water tonight. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Looked at mail, watched TV, then watched VCR (911) & worked big X-word. Got stuff ready for tomorrow, washed & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:15. Have to get up at 5:45.

Came in pretty much like a lamb altho’ we had rain & cloudy skies. Friday, March 1, 1991: Woke at 8:50, 7:20, & 8:30; got up & dressed. Fed Sam & turned up heat, opened his door. Washed & put up hair, dried them till 10:00. Had breakfast, watched “Wheel.” Went out & worked on flower bed, cut down sunflowers there & by house. Have 2 big ones by the house that I haven’t got down yet. Went for my walk, did the whole thing today & went pretty good. Worked outside again when I got back, came in at 1:00 & had lunch & watched Soaps. Read old papers, took a nap. Went back outside & worked on sunflowers again, have about 3 garbage cans full of trash. Nancy & Cindy went by & I talked to them, called Linda & had her call me back. Phone works O.K. at that distance. Cindy brought over my G S Cookies & I paid her. Got in mail & paper, fixed supper & ate. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Went in & watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:30.

Saturday, March 2, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30 & about 8:00 so got up, fed Sam & turned up heat. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Kind of cloudy so went out & cut down rest of sunflowers in case it started to rain. Came in & had breakfast, looked at papers. Paid P.W. bill & Reader’s Digest, watered a few flowers. Started watering & fertilizing violets, didn’t quite get them all done. Went for my walk, saw a darling little squirrel & some ducks. Saw 2 geese yesterday, pretty windy & sprinkling when I walked. Cut up the sunflowers when I got back, wind blowing them all over. Cleaned living room & hall; vacuumed kitchen, bath & part of dining room. Fixed supper & ate. Watched VCR & napped a little, emptied dishwasher & rinsed dishes. Read Bible lesson for tomorrow, took shower. To bed at 1:45.

Not so windy tonight. Sunday, March 3, 1991: Woke when alarm went off at 7:00. Got up & fed Sam. Washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door – raining & he didn’t think much of it. Fixed breakfast & ate, finished getting ready. Left about 9:00, set Jello before I left. Enjoyed Adult Bible Lesson today, choir sang 1 song, call to worship & prayer response at church. Went to Coffee Hour after church, Nancy & Cindy didn’t come. Stopped at M&W for groc. on way home, then KFC  & got chicken, potatoes & gravy. Got home about 1:50, wind really starting to blow. Changed clothes, put away groc. Cleared off table, soon Carla came. We visited a while & then I finished up dinner, warmed up chicken, etc. Soon after we ate Carla left, took stuff along for Bill’s supper. I cleared up & did dishes, then read paper & watched TV. Soaked my feet for about 1 ½ hrs., then watched VCR. Brushed my teeth, put on bleach cream. To bed at 12:45.

Monday, March 4, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam. Back to sleep till 8:10, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, raining! Rained off & on all day, never did go for my walk. Watered & fertilized rest of flowers, trimmed [dead leaves?]. Went downstairs & started sewing on mending, finished fixing sleeves on red jacket. Came up & had breakfast. Tried to call Linda but no answer. Planted 2 ivies in blue hanging planter. Had lunch, took nap. Went back down to sew, fixed sleeves on new purple print dress, sewed seam in tan pants, mended pocket on Linda’s pants. Called Linda & she did have to work today. Got in mail & paper, got supper & ate. Did dishes, Judy called. Read paper, watched TV. Watched MacGyver on VCR, worked on Globe X-word. To bed at 1:00. Wind blowing again!

Tuesday, March 5, 1991: Woke about 7:30, fed Sam. Went back to sleep, woke again at 8:15. Got up, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, put away some things – cleaned off dining table. Hung up clothes & put away those hanging on door. Had breakfast, sewed button on Linda’s pants. Read old paper, went for my walk. Wind was pretty cold, wheeled garbage cans back when I got home. Had lunch, rested. Went downstairs & moved little table, swept floor. Vacuumed over by furnace pipe, scrubbed floor in those 2 places. Cindy came & brought my mail & paper so I quit & went upstairs. Fixed supper & ate, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Nancy came over & borrowed pencil sharpener; I called Linda & we talked a while. Read paper, watched TV. After news went in & watched “911” on VCR, worked on Globe X-word. Brushed my teeth. To bed at 1:10. Cat in garage tonight. 

Snowed off & on today. Wednesday, March 6, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep till 7:50. Got up about 8:00, fed Sam & turned up heat. Washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Put on face, made up deposit & groc. lists. Had breakfast, left for downtown about 11:30. Went to Bank, to Kings, remembered I forgot to turn on VCR so came home to turn it on. Followed UPS man up the hill & he brought my order so stopped at Nancys on way back down & took her stove guard strips to her. Stopped at Gem In & Out & had a sandwich, then to PW Drug. Paid bill & got a few things, then to Paul’s for groc. Stopped & got gas on way home, under $1.00 per gal. now. Home about 3:10, put away groc. Went in & watched VCR, got supper about 5:30. Cleared table & emptied dishwasher, got in mail & paper. Went to church but no choir practise, Leah not feeling well. Watched TV a little, then went in & watched VCR, read paper. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Bush declared Desert Storm war over! Thursday, March 7, 1991: Woke at 2:30, back to sleep. Again at 7:30, slept a little, Got up at 8:15, foggy & frost on ground. Got dressed, opened Sam’s door. Went down & laid tile where I scrubbed yesterday, came up & had breakfast. Went back down & started to paint, worked at it all day. Feet were surely tired tonight, got almost all the west end of room done – walls & ceiling. Surely makes it lighter down there, came up & had lunch about 2:00. Took a nap. Cindy came about 5:30 to practice piano, brought in mail & paper. I came up & got supper, etc. Looked at mail, did dishes. Read paper & watched TV, soaked my feet. Then watched VCR, L.A. LAW. Washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Friday, March 8, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to bed, slept till 8:45. Got up & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, read some old papers. Went downstairs to work, put down ½ tile. Cleaned out corner by chimney, painted rest of wall in corner, painted smoke pipe. Put up 9-plug fixture, also button rack. Finished paint ceiling above water heater, also painted in opp. corner. Ceiling nearly done, never did eat any lunch. Nancy came over & brought pencil sharpener back, asked me to go to G.S. Spaghetti Dinner at Odd Fellows Hall w/them. I was awfully tired but went & it was good. Linda & Meg there. Got home about 7:30, read paper & watched TV. Then watched VCR. Called Paula & then Linda called me, guess I’ll go along tomorrow & get my hair cut. Brushed my teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Saturday, March 9, 1991: Woke at 6:45 so got up, fed Sam & turned up heat. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Washed my hair, had small breakfast. Got stuff ready to go, shut Sam’s door. Linda & Ted came at 8:30 & we headed for Boise. Molly & Winston were so excited to see us. Paula, Jim, Ted & Linda took off for their run, I stayed at Paulas. Read my papers, they got back about 11:30! Linda & Ted started to clean, Paula cut my hair & then set it. Then she got kind of a brunch & we ate. When Linda & Ted got thru’ we came home, got here about 5:30. I watered my flowers, got in mail. Got supper & ate, did dishes. Watched show on VCR. Took shower. To bed at 12:55. 

Sunday, March 10, 1991: Woke at 6:00, fed Sam & went back to bed. Woke w/alarm at 7:00, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, had breakfast. Finished getting ready for church, left at 9:00. Passed Mike on his way down on his bike. Went to Adult S.S. & then to church, had coffee & cake afterward. Got home about 1:00, changed clothes. Had crax & cheese, coffee & toast. Sat down to look at paper, Carla came about 2:00. We sat & talked a while, then went down to Olgas & had some miners stew. Went to Megan’s violin recital at 4:00, she was very good & so were the rest of the kids. Got home about 5:00 & then Carla left. I watched TV & read paper, looked up at the TV & there a little mouse ran across in front of it. I tried to catch him & got him between the turn table & sponge but he got away & jumped in the dishwasher. Couldn’t catch him again so called Nancy & she had a trap & brought it up. I then went in & watched VCR. Still hadn’t got him when I went to bed. Brushed my teeth – to bed at 1:10.

Monday, March 11, 1991: Woke at 5:55, back to sleep till 7:50. Read a little, got up at 8:30. Turned up heat, fed Sam. Dressed, put away clothes on bed. Opened Sam’s door, went out & worked on flower bed till 10:00, pretty cold & windy. Came in & had breakfast, didn’t catch my mouse. Went down & scrubbed rest of floor, put up strip of contact paper. Pressed sleeves of red jacket, skirt for Cindy, started to press white dress but found Sam had sprayed it so now I’ll have to wash it first. Came up & had lunch, watered more violets. Read papers, etc., Helen F. came so I spent some time w/her. After she left, took a nap, talked to Linda & Nancy. Took out garbage & hauled cans to front, got in mail & paper. Got supper & ate, Judy called. Did dishes & ran dishwasher, read paper & watched TV. Then went in & watched VCR, shut Sam’s door & had to chase cat out of garage again. Brushed teeth & washed face. To bed at 1:30.

Tuesday, March 12, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep till 8:30. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Dressed, gathered up laundry. Opened Sam’s door, raining off & on all day. Had light breakfast, paid water & power bill. Ted came up & checked furnace, says it’s O.K. I started working on tiles, got floor all done but took me all afternoon. Surely does look nice. Came up about 1:00 & had lunch, finished watering violets. Too cold & raining so didn’t walk today. Was going to take some daffodils over to Daddy but forgot they shut the gate at 5:00; I’ll take some tomorrow. Sewed button on skirt for Cindy, took letters to mail box. Got mail & paper, brought cans back. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Still haven’t caught my mouse but haven’t seen him any more. Watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00. Rained hard a little bit tonight.

Wednesday, March 13, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep till 7:30. Napped again until 8:30, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, really rained last night & had 7 inches of new snow at McCall & Bogus. I washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, got list ready. Finished getting ready to go downtown, left about 12:30. Called Linda but no answer. Paid water bill first, then to P.W. Drug for medicine & paid Power bill. Went to M&W for some things, stopped at Normans for my ring & pendant. Got groc. at Pauls, then home. Oh, yes, stopped at cemetery on way down & put daffodils on Daddy’s grave. Brought in groc. & put away, then watched D.o.L. on VCR. Slept some. Got supper, kids came & we went to church. Had choir practice, got home about 9:50. After news went in & watched VCR. To bed at 12:50.

Thursday, March 14, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again about 8:00, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, dressed. Opened his door, stripped my bed. Put wool pad on line to air, washed mattress & pillow ^{Had breakfast.} covers. Washed load of good white clothes, dried them & covers. Washed & dried bedspread, made up bed. Went out & got mail & paper, (had lunch at 1:00, went for my walk at 11:30), drove more stakes to straighten mail box. Cleaned off leaves & dead sweet peas around it. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper & watched TV. Judy called before I finished my supper. After news went in & watched VCR. Had several calls tonite & no one there? Brushed my teeth, cleaned my face. To bed at 1:00.

Friday, March 15, 1991: Woke at 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:00, got up about 8:30. Fed Sam, turned up heat, got dressed. Opened Sam’s door, dusted part of walls & ceiling in my room. Hung up clothes & put away, washed load of colored clothes. Had breakfast, finished yesterday’s paper. Worked outside a little, played Jane Powell exercise tape & exercised for about an hour. Had lunch, dried clothes. Hung up nylons, washed another load of colored clothes. Took nap, went out & finished flower bed. Raked about ½ of area between drives, got in mail & paper. Got supper cleared up & did dishes. Read paper & watched TV, went in & watched VCR. Finished paper, to bed at 2:00.

Saturday, March 16, 1991: Woke at 7:00, back to sleep till 8:00. Read a little, got up about 8:30. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, washed my hair & took shower. Put up my hair, dried them. Nancy called about going to take Paul to Boise, I decided not to go because I still had cupcakes to do. Had breakfast, then mixed up one batch. Baked those then did another one. Got over 50 out of it. Rested a while, read papers, watched Hee Haw. Mixed up icing & iced cupcakes, got in mail. Got supper & ate, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Fixed Spic & Span & washed headboard, pix, wall, around light switch. Put bedspread on bed, brushed teeth. Carried cakes out to car. To bed at 12:20.

Sunday, March 17, 1991: Woke about 6:00, went back to sleep. Alarm woke me at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left about 8:40, got down to church just before Linda & Ted. Put up St. Patrick’s decorations, brought in cupcakes. Choir sang this morning & had Communion also; had recycling program during coffee hour. Got home about 1:15. Changed clothes, put roast on to cook. Laid down for a little bit, Carla came. We talked & I watched roast. Nancy came up & brought her income tax stuff. I put light bulb in outdoor light. It has a hole in top so lets water leak in & hit bulb. We ate about 5:30, Carla left about 6:30. I emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Played solitaire a while, read paper & watched TV. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:25.

Monday, March 18, 1991: Woke about 7:00, went back to sleep till 8:30. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Dressed, opened his door. Went out & raked rest of strip between driveways, not too cold but kind of windy. Went in & had breakfast, started to water flowers. Went for my walk, tried to call Linda but no answer so guess she had to work. Had lunch at 1:00, started working on Income Tax. Took nap about 2:30, quit working little before 6:00. Got in mail & paper, took out garbage & hauled cans to front. Got supper, did dishes. Judy called about the time I finished supper, read paper & watched TV. Then went in & watched VCR (MACGYVER), watched news & then VCR again. Worked on Globe X-word. Washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 1:20.

Tuesday, March 19, 1991: Woke at 5:00, back to sleep Woke again about 8:00 but dozed & read until 9:00, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, opened his door. Took letters to mail box, had breakfast. Read rest of paper, watered some flowers. Called Linda, didn’t work today but still has her cold so didn’t walk. Didn’t work yesterday either but just missed her somehow when I called. Went for my walk, went real early today. Just going to have my lunch when Mrs. Schroeder came, she’s surely an odd person. Didn’t stay very long, had lunch after she left. Then got my income tax folders out & got the rest of my stuff together, soaked my feet while I worked. They surely feel better tonight. Went out & dug out dirt, laid one block by driveway but started to rain so I had to quit. Got in mail & paper, got supper & ate. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Then went in & watched VCR, news, then VCR again. Cooked broccoli & asparagus, brushed my teeth. Bed – 1:00.

Wednesday, March 20, 1991: Finished watering flowers last night. Woke at 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:00, dozed a little. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Went back to bed, got up at 9:00. Washed & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, made up deposit & groc. list. Finished getting ready, left about 12:00. Went to Bank, P.W. Drug, to Farm Store & got a blouse & sweater. Out to Vets. & got catfood, met Linda at Gr. Western Pizza for lunch. Went out to Ernsts & got crabgrass killer & spreader, also 10 patio blocks. Back to town & got groc. at Pauls, stopped at cemetery but flowers were still just like new so left them. Home at 4:10. Unloaded car, put away groc., got in mail & paper. Got supper, went to church & choir practice w/Linda & Ted. Got home about 9:30. Linda came over w/some mending & I helped her w/that, 10:30 when she left. Watched DoL on VCR, to bed at 1:10.

Thursday, March 21, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again about 8:00, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to bed & read paper, got up about 9:00. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Went out & started to rake S. side of front yard, came in & had breakfast. Finished yesterday’s paper, went back out & finished yard. Went for my walk, had lunch when I got back. Got sleepy so took nap, sorted papers in black sack. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Worked on papers some more, went out & got in mail & paper. Got supper, read paper & watched TV. Judy called, I did dishes. After news went in & watched AW on VCR. Brushed teeth, washed face. To bed at 1:10.

Friday, March 22, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep till 8:00. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Went back to bed & read till 9:00, got up & dressed. Washed & put up my hair, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, read paper a little. Dusted & cleaned small bath, went for my walk at 12:00. Not very cold & just a little wind, finished clean bath when I got back. Had lunch, finished papers. Got sleepy so took nap, cleaned off part of dining table. Went out & worked in front of house, cleaned leaves & old lily-of-the-valley stems out. Didn’t get finished, Cindy came over to practise. Looked at mail, got supper. While I was eating about ¼ of my tooth fell out, doesn’t bother me – just kind of rough on my tongue. May have to have it crowned. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Went in & watched VCR. Brushed teeth, to bed at 12:30.

Saturday, March 23, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep. Woke up at 7:30, turned up heat & went back to bed. Read & napped till 9:00, got up & opened Sam’s door. Took shower, dressed. Cleared off dining table, Mike called about helping me. I asked if Cindy wanted to walk w/me, she did so I got ready & we took Abner & went on our walk. When I got back backed car out, got all cans, bottles, papers, etc., together, Mike came over & we loaded them up. He took them down & the recycling place was closed till Tuesday! I swept out the garage, put hoses & reels out. Hooked up front one & Mike washed the car, then I had him put up the can crusher. He’s a handy little guy. My feet hurt so I soaked them while I watched “Hee Haw,” didn’t feel very good so laid down & slept for about an hour. My mouth getting awfully sore. Got supper, did dishes. Read & watched TV. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50. Tel. woke me at 1:30, they hung up when I picked up – 5 min. later it rang again. Really upsetting.

Sunday, March 24, 1991: Woke about 6:30, read & dozed till alarm rang at 7:00. Got up & opened Sam’s door, fed him & turned up heat. Had breakfast, then washed, dressed & got ready for church. Palm Sunday – choir sang. Had voter’s meeting after coffee hour today, I stopped at M&W on way home. Carla came just after I pulled in driveway, my tongue really sore today. Changed clothes, we sat & talked a while. Decided not to go to Home Show I felt so rough, got out some meat & fixed dinner. After we ate Carla left, I gargled & rinsed my mouth w/salt water as she suggested. Really helped, I did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Linda called about 10:15 & we talked a while, I finished paper. Brushed my teeth, to bed at 1:20.

Monday, March 25, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep till 7:50. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Opened his door, had breakfast. Call[ed] Dentist, got appointment for 2:00 P.M. Talked to Linda, dressed. Kept getting cloudier, soon was snowing & then rain. Ted came for the check, also gave him a toaster. Read old paper, got card for Laura. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Got ready to go to dentist, didn’t take long & surely feels better. Got home about 2:40, read paper & watched TV. Carla called, Megan came & got house key. Nancy came later & wanted the key but Meg still had it. Watched VCR a while, got in mail & paper. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Judy called, read paper & watched TV. Went in & watched VCR, Paul called – still in San Francisco; will be home tomorrow. Washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 1:10.

Tuesday, March 26, 1991: Woke at 6:00, back to sleep till 8:00. Read a little, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, opened his door. Dressed, went out to work in front, took out garbage. Jan & her mother came over to ask about Goldie’s vet, when I came in time for “Wheel” so had breakfast. Made up order from Mature Wisdom so that took quite a while, mailed order & went for my walk. When I got home had lunch, looked thru’ some papers. Got sleepy so took nap, slept almost all thru’ St. Barb. Started to vacuum kitchen, Jim Gantz came to turn on Irr. system. Everything O.K. – no leaks. After he left I spread weed stop by drive & S. of sidewalk. Will try to rake & do rest of front yard tomorrow, Cindy stopped & asked if I’d like to go to supper at Asia w/them to celebrate Paul’s return. Got in mail & paper, got ready & went about 6:45. Home at 8:00, watched TV & VCR. Read paper & got very sleepy. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Wednesday, March 27, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep. Woke several times, finally got up about 8:20. Turned up heat, fed Sam. Got dressed, opened his door. Went out & started raking N. side of lawn, came in at 10:00 & had breakfast. Went back out at 11:00, finished rake. Jim Gantz came & put in the extra pins for my irr. system, so I paid him. Changed shoes & went for my walk, back about 12:50. Had lunch, Helen F. came so I spent some time with her, finished watching S.B. Got sleepy so took nap, doorbell rang & it was Mike so he took cans, etc., down for recycling. Only got $1.13 for all that. Got out weed inhibitor & spreader & put it on N. lawn, then sprinkled it. Cleaned off more old lily-of-valleys in front, soon have that all done. Came in & fixed supper, got in paper – Nancy got my mail. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Then watched VCR. Worked on Globe X-word. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Thursday, March 28, 1991: Woke a number of times, went back to sleep. Woke at 8:15, read paper & got up at 9:00. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, got stuff ready for town. Finished getting ready, left about 11:30. Went out to Ernst’s & got more crabgrass control, to Anthony’s but not much left there. Came back to town, got med. at P.W. Drug, Easter lily at Kings, to Paul’s for groc. Got home about 3:30, forgot to turn on VCR before I left. Unloaded car, put away groc. Oh, yes, forgot I ate at MacDonalds, used coupon & got extra chicken nuggets & had them for my supper. Sharon Nunes came & I spent some time with her. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Set VCR, left for church about 7:10. Maundy Thursday service tonight, sang two songs. Practised after church, have 4 songs tomorrow night. Watched TV, read paper. Then Knot’s Landing on VCR. To bed at 1:25.

Friday, March 29, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep till 8:20. Read a little, got up about 9:00. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, dressed. Washed & put up hair. Had breakfast, started to water & fertilize flowers & violets. Went for my walk, stopped for Cindy but she was gone so Nancy & Abner went along. Nice out today, not very cold. Had lunch when I got home, U.P.S. truck brought my roses from Gurney. Trimmed roots & put them in water, will have to plant tomorrow. Read paper & watched TV, watered & fert. more violets. Vacuumed kitchen, Mike came to clean my windows. I took shower, changed clothes. Had supper, got ready for church. Left about 7:10, had four songs tonight. Think we did really well even tho’ some have very bad colds still. Good Friday is such a pretty service. When I got home soaked my feet & looked at mail. Watched VCR & slept. To bed at 1:40.

Matt comes home. Saturday, March 30, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:20, got up about 9:00. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Dressed, opened his door. Finished watering & fertilizing flowers & violets, cooked part of eggs yesterday & rest today. Had breakfast, dusted & cleaned living room. Went over kitchen floor again, cleaned bath & hall. Had a sandwich & milk, was very tired so laid down & slept a little. Started working on dining room, watched Hee Haw at 4:00. Nancy called about going to Boise but I still had too much to do & was so tired. My feet hurt so bad! Mike & Cindy came over to do eggs, finally went ahead & did theirs & then Matt, Megan & Ted finished the rest. I finally had supper, (oh yes, Nancy & Ruth were over). Did dishes & ran dishwasher. Fixed & hid Easter baskets. Washed face & brushed teeth, don’t think I’ll make it to early service tomorrow. To bed at 1:40.

EASTER Sunday, March 31, 1991: Didn’t make it to early service, woke at 6:20 but went back to sleep. Woke again about 7:50, got up & turned up heat. Fed Sam & opened his door, got dressed. Finished getting ready, left about 7:45. Everyone eating when I got there, really had a good breakfast – O.J., coffee, ham, scrambled eggs, hash browns & home baked cinnamon rolls. Went to Adult Bible Class, then to choir practise. Sang Call to Worship & 1 song at church service, lots of hymns, Pastor forgot Prayer Response. Got our Easter lilies, home about 12:00. Changed clothes, Paula & Jim came. Mixed up salad, soon all came & they hunted Easter baskets. Then Linda, Ted, Matt & Laura; then Carla & Bill. Soon left & went down to Nancys. Dinner was very good. Afterwards most played cards. Linda & I took naps. Carla & Bill left about 5:00, Paula & Jim about 6:30. I came home about 8:00, read paper & watched TV. Watched VCR some but kept falling asleep. Brushed teeth. To bed – 12:40. Beautiful day!

Friday, February 1, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep till 8:00. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Put boxes out on porch, (never did pick them up). Linda said this eve. it is supposed to be next Fri. Dressed, had breakfast. Swept stairs, moved stuff on stairs. Called [Ted?] about furnace, he came about noon & oiled the fan & motor. Said he did service it last fall while we were gone. Watered & fertilized flowers, also violets. Had lunch, read last night’s paper. Watched VCR a little, sorted papers on table. Got sleepy so took a little nap, took shower – 4:00 to 4:30. Changed clothes & got ready to go for supper. At 5:30 telephone rang & it was Judy! I found brass plant stand had fallen over & spilled water & dirt all over the carpet, had to pick that up. Also cleaned off wind shield & back window of car before I left, picked up mail & paper. Ate supper at Wilson, then went down to gym & watched entertainment. Saw Cindy play in band, was all real good. Got home about 8:40. Called Linda, watched TV & looked at mail. Watched VCR. Bed at 1:25.

Groundhog Day – don’t think he ever saw his shadow here. Saturday, February 2, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:30, read & dozed until 9:30. Got up & dressed, fed Sam & turned up heat. Opened his door, not very cold out today. Brought in outdoor ext. cord & trouble light, hope it doesn’t turn cold again now. Had O.J., toast & coffee, worked at misc. odd jobs. Never did get any cleaning done, made up an order to Carol Wright & mailed it. Postage rate up tomorrow. Began to feel sick & had pain in gall bladder area, laid down for a while. Got in mail & looked at it, washed flowers that were on steps. Watched Hee, Haw, [sic] forgot to soak feet. Fixed Spic & Span water & scrubbed steps, made dressing & fixed supper. Afterwards did dishes, watched TV. Went down & scrubbed floor in sewing room. After news watched VCR. To bed at 1:11.

Washed & dressed, turned up heat & fed Sam first. Had breakfast, Nancy called to see if Cindy could ^{Paul was sick.} could [sic] ride down w/me. Finished getting ready, left about 10:00. Had communion today, went down & had coffee & cookies. Linda, Ted & Sunday School kids went skating. Stopped at Pauls on way home, also Nancys & saw Paul. Got home about 1:30, changed clothes. Put away groc., opened Sam’s door. Carla came about 2:30, I put meat on to cook. We sat & talked, then I fixed vegs. & rice & finished up supper. Ate about 5:30, then Carla left for home. I cleared table, did dishes & watched TV. Ran dishwasher, read paper. After news watched VCR. Brushed my teeth. To bed at 1:15.

Monday, February 4, 1991: Woke about 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to bed, read & slept till 9:00. Got up, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, warm today but cloudy most of day. Had breakfast, called Linda but no answer. Started in on Bible lesson, quit about 1:00 & had lunch. Took little TV downstairs & put in tile on floor, dusted wall. Sewed a little, looked for paint – one bucket dried up. Scrubbed a little more floor, cleaned fronts of sewing cabinet drawers. Washed water heater & door into furnace room. Emptied w. baskets & took garbage to front, got in mail & paper. Cleaned off a little of flower bed & took can to front. Looked at mail, got supper. Read paper a little, Judy called. Didn’t like show on TV so watched VCR. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Finished paper, brushed teeth. Put red, blue & white ribbons on porch today. To bed at 1:25.

Tuesday, February 5, 1991: Woke about 6:00, went right back to sleep. Again at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Back to sleep till 8:30, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, then did rest of Bible lesson. Had O.J. & choc. shake at 10:00, then finished lesson. Had lunch at 1:00, then went down & painted wall in sewing room. Goes slow with such a small brush. (Rained some during the night & a little most of the morning). Stopped painting about 5:30, went out & got mail & paper. Brought garbage cans back, looked at mail. Got supper, did dishes. Called Nancy, Cindy wants her cake for Sunday. Read paper, found & paid P.W. Drug, Reader’s Digest bills. Watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:15. Sneezing quite a bit, hope I’m not catching cold. Really foggy tonight.

CINDY’S B’DAY. Wednesday, February 6, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep till 7:00. Fed Sam & turned up heat, back to sleep till 7:50. Got up, washed & dressed. Let Sam out the front for a little bit, came right back in. Had breakfast, Linda called. Didn’t have to teach today but had things to do so didn’t come to Bible Study. Finished getting ready, was a little late getting there. After lesson went to P.W. Drug, paid bills, etc. Went to P.O. for 4¢ stamps, then to Pizza Hut & met Linda for lunch. Have really increased their dining space; is really nice. After lunch went to Pauls for groc., then home. Unloaded & put away groc., then watched VCR a while. Nancy never did call about supper or cake & ice cream so I fixed something here. Cindy came over to borrow the key so I gave her her card & money. Did dishes, worked Globe X-word & read paper. Watched TV, after news watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:45.

Thursday, February 7, 1991: Woke at 6:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Back to bed, slept till 8:30. Got up & dressed, opened Sam’s door. Went out & cleared more off flower bed, came in & had breakfast. Looked at paper, called & talked to Linda. Didn’t have to work again today. Went down & worked in sewing room; painted rest of S. wall; also rest of N. wall behind water heater; laid 2 floor tiles; painted on ceiling. Stopped once & had lunch, took nap. Scrubbed more of floor, quit about 5:45. Shut Sam’s door, went out & got mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:25.

Friday, February 8, 1991: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to sleep till 8:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Truck came for ARC boxes, tried to call Linda but no answer. Dressed, had O.J., Shake & coffee. Looked at paper a little, washed & put up hair. Had lunch, took little nap. Went down & worked on tile, goes kind of slow when there is a lot of cutting & fitting to do. Oh, yes, forgot I went out & worked in flower bed again this morning, have it about ⅓ done. Quit downstairs about 5:45, shut Sam’s door & went out & got mail & paper. Cloudy, damp & kind of foggy all day but not very cold. Snow all gone. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV & soaked my feet. After news watched VCR, Dallas & Guns of Paradise from last Fri. Brushed my teeth. To bed at 1:20.

Saturday, February 9, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to sleep, woke again at 8:40. Got up, opened Sam’s door. Turned up heat more, took shower & dressed. Went out & worked in flower bed, about ½ done now. Called & talked to Linda a little while, think they went to Paulas to clean today. Called Carla but no answer, went in & put away jigsaw & card table. Cleaned a little in there – mess where flowers fell over. Vacuumed floor in small bath. Then put away stuff in front of china cab., vacuumed floor. Had lt. lunch, vacuumed dining room. Took short nap, got in mail. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Baked angel food cake, sliced ham & made sandwiches. Called & talked to Carla, shut Sam’s door. Read old papers, watched TV. Took cake out of pan. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Birthday dinner at church. Sunday, February 10, 1991: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam & went back to bed. Read a little & finally dropped off, alarm rang at 8:00 so I got up. Washed & dressed, let Sam out a little. Had breakfast, finished getting ready for church. Left at 10:00, took my sandwiches. Had B’Day dinner after church, Megan played piano, Cindy played cello & Megan accompanied, then Cindy played clarinet. Stopped & got ice cream on way home. Changed clothes, Carla came. Iced & decorated Cindy’s cake, then just sat & talked. Paula & Jim didn’t come over, went out to Sizzler about 6:00. Had malibu chicken, was real good. Came back to Nancys & had cake & ice cream, then played 31. Carla left about 8:00, I got home about 9:30. Read paper & watched TV, then watched VCR but kept falling asleep. To bed at 1:10.

Monday, February 11, 1991: Woke at 3:30, back to sleep till 7:00. Woke again at 8:20 & 8:40, finally got up. Turned up heat, fed Sam. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Wrote letter to Matt, finished getting his box ready. Had breakfast, tried to call Linda but no answer. Took my pkg. down to mail it & saw her at P.O., took me about 15 minutes as there was a line. Worked in flower bed a little when I got home, then came in & did Bible lesson. Had lunch, worked on lesson again. Helen F. came so I didn’t get it all done today. Closed Sam’s door, went out & got mail & paper. Looked at mail, got supper. Started dishes, Judy called. Finished dishes, read paper & watched TV. After news went in & watched VCR (MacGyver), then brushed teeth & washed face. To bed at 12:35.

Tuesday, February 12, 1991: Woke about 3:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30 & at 8:40, got up & turned up heat. Fed Sam, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, called Linda but no answer. Took garbage out, hauled cans to front. Worked on flower bed a little while. Came in & had O.J., Shake, & coffee. Read ^{Finished Bible lesson.} papers, watered rest of flowers. Put out flag, fried bacon for soup. Had lunch, got sleepy so napped a little. Read more papers, took another little nap. Nancy came to bring back key & woke me. Washed load of running clothes, dried part. Went out to get mail & paper, brought cans back. Finished making barley soup, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Had breakfast, finished getting ready to go downtown. Guess we had a good rain last night, I didn’t hear it. Linda didn’t go to Bible Study, had to teach. After that I stopped at Kay’s Bouquets, ordered flowers for church. Went to Bank, Wash. Fed., then to Pauls for groc., & home. 1:50 when I got home. Unloaded groc., put away. Watched VCR until almost 6:00, got in mail & paper. Shut Sam’s door, got supper. Went to Lenten Service w/Linda, Ted, & Megan, then to choir practise afterwards. Got home at 9:30, watched TV & then VCR till 1:15. To bed at 1:45.

Thursday, February 14, 1991: Woke about 3:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 6:00, slept again until 8:00. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Doorbell rang & it was Jonathan with a valentine for me, he is so cute. Got dressed, opened Sam’s door. Hung up sweat suits & put away, went out & worked in flower bed – have it nearly done. Came in & had bkfst – O.J., toast, coffee & little bran. Paid tel. bill, mailed it. Finished paper, fixed valentines & candy for kids. Got receipt files out & put away 1990 receipts, etc. Put away receipts for bills I paid, paper, Emporium, ____. Took candy over to Meg, Mike & Cindy’s over to them. Then took valentines & suckers over to Dennetts. Brought in paper, finished filing. Got supper, ate. Watched TV. Went in & watched VCR, then came out & did dishes while I watched TV. Ran dishwasher, read paper. After news watched more on VCR. To bed at 1:40.

Friday, February 15, 1991: Woke at 3:00, back to sleep. Again at 7:00, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke about 8:15, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, went out & worked in flower bed. Finished it up, put garbage can in front. Had breakfast, washed & put up hair. Carried Xmas paper downstairs, brought up scrub water. Washed front door, front of island cabinet, & rubber mat. Hung up clothes on bed, had lunch. Dusted & cleaned bath, washed rugs. Dried rugs & put back in bath, etc., mailed letters in A.M. Got in mail & paper & shut Sam’s door, got supper. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. After news, watched VCR. To bed at 1:00.

Pick up flowers. Saturday, February 16, 1991: Woke at 7:00, couldn’t go back to sleep so got up. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. (Turned up heat, fed Sam first). Hung up clothes on my bed, cleaned off bed in blue room. Stacked socks to be sorted behind bed, vacuumed off bedspread. Vacuumed floor, then hall & bath. Vacuumed living room, called Linda & Meg answered. Linda & Ted gone to Boise, Meg had casserole she wanted me to bake for her. I mixed up & baked Paula’s cake, then did casserole. Linda picked it up. Carla called, has a very bad cold so probably won’t be over tomorrow. Had bowl of soup for lunch, Linda called & said they were going to deliver my flowers so I took my shower & got ready. Then watched Hee-Haw & soaked my feet. Finished getting ready, oh yes, Cindy brought my flowers about 3:45. Finished vacuuming kitchen, left for church about 5:40. Took flowers down, had a very good dinner & nice time. Came home about 9:00, played 31 at Nancy’s – I won for a change. I came home about 10:00, cooked hamb. & mac. & made casserole. After news watched VCR – “Wheel–” & “Jeopardy.” To bed at 1:10.

Sunday, February 17, 1991: Woke at 7:00, back to sleep but woke several times. Finally got up about 7:55, fed Sam & turned up heat. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Put casserole in to bake, finished getting ready. Let Sam out several times, left about 9:50. Practised for choir, then upstairs for service. Paul came to church today! Had potluck after church, then cong. meeting. Stayed till after 2:00 but then had to leave, stopped for ice cream on way home. Cleaned dining table, vacuumed dining room & sm. bath. Moved stuff out of utility, cleaned it & put away vacuums. Wrapped Paula’s gift, iced & decorated cake. Called Carla, she is a little better. Cleaned off kitchen table, did dishes. Called Paula, they came about 6:10. Went to Perkins for supper, then came back for cake & ice cream. Kids played 31, all went home about 11:00. I straightened up dining room. To bed at 1:20.

Monday, February 18, 1991: Woke about 7:30, went back to bed. Read a little & fell asleep, then woke at 8:30 & got up. Turned up heat & fed Sam, got dressed. Opened his door, had breakfast. Started to work on Bible lesson, long one today. Tried to call Linda but no answer, called Nancy & she said Cindy was sick. Tried to call Paula but no answer, they came after a while. Were over playing golf, came by for Jim’s books he forgot last nite, also Paula’s flowers & balloons. Took short nap, Jehovah’s Witnesses came & woke me. In afternoon napped again & Sharon Nunes came & woke me. Watered part of flowers, made mixed salad to take to Lindas so didn’t get Bible study finished. Walked over about 6:15, we ate & then I rode back w/Linda. Rinsed dishes, ran dishwasher. Watched TV, then VCR a while. Brushed teeth. (Called Carla this eve., she’s feeling some better). Tuesday, February 19, 1991: Woke at 7:00, back to sleep. Then woke about 8:50, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, washed & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, had breakfast. Finished up Bible lesson, really a long one. Watered more flowers & violets. Had bowl of soup, got ready to go to funeral. Saw lots I knew, Dave & Mabel, Clarence & Earlene, Ray & Edna, Roberta, Alvin & Janet, Bob, Cecil & Kenny Jessen; saw several of Cliff’s girls, too, but didn’t talk to them. Really was a nice day, when I got home looked at mail & watched TV. Then watched VCR & napped. Got supper, Linda called about coming over for cake & ice cream. Roy called about 6:30, they’re down in McAllen. Penny was expecting but lost her baby today. Carla & Paula both called after I got home, Carla sounds better. After news I watched VCR & dozed, brushed teeth. To bed at 1:30.

Thursday, February 21, 1991: Woke at 6:30, fed Sam & went back to bed. Slept till 8:30, got up & turned up heat. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Went out & worked on leaves & dead lily-of-the-valley plants for a while. Came in & had breakfast, got ready & went down to Wash. Fed., cashed in small C.D. Deposited it in bank, got home about noon. Had lunch, worked on checkbook. Now can’t find Jan. statement, looked for it. Finished water all flowers, read some old papers. Emptied dishwasher, rinsed dishes. Got sleepy so took a good nap. Wrote check to MSTI for Cliff Jessen & put it in box before mailman went. Got in mail & paper, rolled garbage can back. Got supper, did dishes. Judy called, read paper & watched TV. Watched VCR till 9:00, then finished paper & watched TV. After news watched VCR again. To bed at 12:45.

Friday, February 22, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep till 7:30. Fed Sam & turned up heat, went back to bed & read & napped a while. Woke about 8:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Got dressed, went out & cut off vine from N.E. corner of house. Cleared leaves off primroses, planted one. Went in to watch Wheel & have breakfast, read paper a little. Finished watering flowers, decided to go for a walk. My R. foot hurt a lot so just went about half way, really a beautiful day tho’. Finished planting primroses, cut up vine clippings. Planted min. daffodils in S. flower bed, came in & had lunch. Finished papers on table, got sleepy so took ½ hr. nap. Washed & put up hair, dried them a little. Sam got into a fight w/CC in Jan’s back yard today. Went out & got mail & paper, shut Sam’s door. Got supper & ate, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. (Miss USA Pageant – Miss KS,        won). After news, watched VCR. To bed at 1:44. Finished paper.

Saturday, February 23, 1991: Woke at 4:30, back to sleep. Woke at 8:10, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat & opened Sam’s door, doorbell rang & it was Dennis w/the oil bill (less than 100.00 today). Took shower, got dressed. Put away jars, cans, bottles, etc., had breakfast. Read old papers on tables, called & asked Cindy if she would like to go for a walk. She said “yes” so I changed shoes & went out & worked in front till she came, wind was kind of cold. When I got back worked on papers, didn’t find bank statements yet. Got sleepy so took nap, soaked my feet while I watched Hee Haw. Sorted papers again, then went out & got mail. Looked at mail, got supper & ate. Did dishes & ran dishwasher, Cindy came over a couple of times. Carla called today, wants me to come over tomorrow. Clipped my nails, went in at 9:00 & watched VCR. To bed at 12:10.

Sunday, February 24, 1991: Woke at 4:30, back to sleep. Then woke about 6:30, went back to sleep till alarm rang at 7:00. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Washed & dressed, let Sam out. Had breakfast, wrote check for church. Finished getting ready, left about 9:00. Went to Bible Class, guess Nancy had to teach today. Had coffee, stopped for few groc. on way home. Changed clothes, let Sam out a little. Brought in groc., left for Carla’s. Visited a little & then Helen came, visited some more & then went to Village Inn for dinner, had a French dip sandwich which was very good. Went back to Carla & Bills, watched TV & visited again. Waited till the sun went down, then left for home. Called Carla when I got here, also Linda. (7:10). Read paper, watched TV. Brushed teeth, put cream on spots. To bed at 12:00.

Monday, February 25, 1991: Woke at about 4:30, didn’t feel very well. Took Temp. & Clorets gum & brought in a pan, read until I fell asleep again. Woke again about 7:30 but felt very tired so slept again until 8:30, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door & turned up heat, hung up & put away some clothes. Read Bible lesson summary, fixed bkfst. & ate. Worked on Bible lesson a while, tried to call Linda & went for my walk. Took her lesson over, my foot surely bothers me. When I got back worked in front till 1:00, came in & had lunch. Emptied dishwasher, worked on Bible lesson. Finally found out when & where band dinner was so got ready & went down, got there just as Cindy’s Band was ready to play. Sat w/Nancy, had baked potato, dessert & drink. They really sound good, cutest little boy there directing band with a little baton. He could really keep time to the music. When we came home I rinsed dishes, read paper & watched TV. Judy called. After news watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:30.

Tuesday, February 26, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Back to sleep till 8:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Dressed, worked on lesson. Had breakfast & watched “Wheel”, then finished lesson. Called Linda but no answer, she must have just gone out to mail box because she didn’t “sub” today. Changed shoes & went for my walk, sure is hard. When I got back planted primrose & min. rose, discovered “The Doctor” is growing after all! Had lunch & watched soaps, finished reading paper. Nancy came over & brought rent from U-Haul dealer, Cindy came later & got key to Linda’s house. Got sleepy so took a nap, called & talked to Linda a little. Went out & got mail, worked in front a little while. Got supper & ate, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Soaked my feet, then clipped my toenails. After news watched VCR. Brushed my teeth. To bed at 12:55.

Wednesday, February 27, 1991: Woke at 4:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, back to sleep till alarm rang at 8:00. Got up & fed Sam, turned up heat. Opened his door, washed & dressed. Had bkfst., finished getting ready. Shut Sam’s door, left for Bible Study. First one there today, Linda there today, too. Think it was last class till fall. Linda & I made out to meet at Taco Time at 12:30, I went to Bank first & then P.W. Drug. Had tostado delight for lunch & was very good, then to Paul’s for groc. & home. Got home about 2:30, unloaded & put away groc. Watched VCR till 5:40, got in mail & paper. Got supper & ate, got ready to go to Lenten services & choir practice. Got home at 9:30, finished watching Hunter. Programs all out of sync because the Pres. was on, announced the end of the War! Hope it really is. Watched VCR again, brushed teeth. To bed at 2:25.

Thursday, February 28, 1991: Woke about 4:30, back to sleep. Again at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat a little. Back to sleep again till 8:30, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, went out & started to work on flower bed by drive. Came in at 10:00 & had breakfast, went back out. Trimmed rose, cut off mums, also baby’s breath, sunflowers, got about ⅔ done. Came in at 1:00 & had lunch, watched TV. Got so busy w/cleaning off flower bed, didn’t even get my walk. Also cleaned leaves, etc., off flower bed; got about ½ of it done. Got in mail & paper, got supper & ate. Went in & watched VCR, then watched Knots’ Landing & did dishes. Read paper, watched news. Went in & watched VCR again. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:20. Beautiful day again today. Really need rain tho’.

Tuesday, January 1, 1991: Woke about 8:30, turned up heat & fed Sam. Went back to bed, got up about 9:00. Washed & dressed, had O.J., toast & coffee. Did dishes, straightened up kitchen. Finished getting ready, Linda called. They were going to leave about 11:20 so I called Nancy to see if they were going over, I went w/them. Matt about ready to leave when we got there. We all went to Denny’s after he left, had an egg, slice bacon & hash browns, toast & coffee. Got home about 3:20. Ran dishwasher, read paper. Got sleepy so took ½ hr. nap, finished watering violets. Tried to call Linda about supper, set stuff out & got it ready. Cindy finally went over, they came & we all ate. Cleared up afterwards, tired & feet hurt so just emptied dishwasher & left the rest. Read paper & watched TV, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:20.

Wednesday, January 2, 1991: Woke about 4:30, back to sleep till 7:50. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Dressed, opened Sam’s door for a while. Called Linda, she did have to “sub” today & has to for next 2 weeks. Had breakfast, then started to take down decorations. Went down & mended my black pants, brought up boxes. Took down everything in fam. rm., dining room & kitchen, then living room. Had lunch, started on tree. My feet started hurting so got out Foot Fixer & soaked them, took short nap. Finished taking decorations off tree, didn’t get it outside yet – still smells good. Mike came over to look for a [illegible] pen & pencil set but we didn’t find it. He brought in mail, I got in paper later on. Looked at mail, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Watched VCR a little, then news & finished paper. Watched VCR again. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Thursday, January 3, 1991: Woke about 7:30, turned up heat & fed Sam. Went back to bed, read papers till about 8:30. Watched “Wheel” in bed, got up at 9:00. Dressed, had O.J. & shake. Opened Sam’s door & let him out a while, shut it again about 11:00. Took Xmas tree out, took stand off & put it in garbage. Took down door garland, swept needles off porch & steps, also sidewalk. Vacuumed needles off carpet, moved coffee table & vacuumed under it. Waxed table & put violets back on it, had lunch. Helen F. came, didn’t stay long. I looked at papers & watched TV, got sleepy so took nap. Worked on decorations some more, got in mail & paper. Got supper, Judy called before I was quite finished. Did dishes, watched TV & read paper. Watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:20.

Friday, January 4, 1991: Woke several times & went back to sleep, finally woke at 8:15. Fed Sam & turned up heat, went back to bed & watched “Wheel.” Got up at 9:00, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, he didn’t stay out long so I shut it. Had breakfast, put away & hung up clothes. Ordered Jim Reeves Records, mailed letter. Washed & put up hair, dusted living room. Had lunch, read old papers. Watched TV, took nap. Took down old & hung up new calendars. Finished dust in living room, got in mail & paper. Looked at mail, got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher, read paper & watched TV. Watched VCR. To bed at 12:55.

Saturday, January 5, 1991: Woke several times but went back to sleep, woke at 8:20 & was going to get up but dropped off again. Finally woke & got up about 9:20, turned up heat & fed Sam. Took shower, washed face & brushed teeth. Dressed, finished hanging up clothes. Had O.J. & choc. Shake, opened Sam’s door. Finished last night’s paper, then finished clean livingroom, called & talked to Linda a little, had lunch. Cleaned in bathroom, vacuumed kitchen. Watched “Hee Haw,” got in mail & looked at it. Got supper, emptied dishwasher. Did dishes, watched TV. Fixed door Xmas decor., shut Sam’s door & turned on lite in fr. room. Paid Dr. bill, P.W. Drug bill, my ½ of Irrig. bill, made up groc. list. Watched L. Welk on VCR. Brushed my teeth. To bed at 12:45.

Sunday, January 6, 1991: Woke several times, back to sleep. Then woke at 7:57 just before alarm, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Went to Church at 10:00, had coffee afterwards. Stopped for groceries on way home, got home about 1:30. Unloaded groc., opened Sam’s door. Changed clothes, had coffee & toast. Put away groc., Carla came. I fixed dinner, ate about 5:00. Carla left after that, I worked on Globe X-word. Did dishes & ran dishwasher, watched TV. Went in & watched VCR, two good movies on tonight. To bed at 1:10. Megan stopped & picked up Linda’s groc. I got for her, also candle & holders.

Monday, January 7, 1991: Woke about 6:30, turned up heat a little & went back to bed. Slept till alarm rang, turned off alarm & went back to sleep till 8:20. Turned on TV & watched “Wheel” in bed, then read paper. Got up at 9:30, fed Sam & turned heat up more. Dressed, opened Sam’s door & turned off lights. Noticed it had snowed so bundled up & swept snow off walks & driveway, also took down all outside lights. When I came in had breakfast, fed Sam again. Put away big lights, looked through “Old Village” catalog – only got 5 of them yesterday. Had lunch, finished catalog. Called Nancy about Mike’s pen & pencil set, he came over to look through trash as he still can’t find them. Linda called so told her I’d go to Circle with her, washed & changed clothes. Had supper, finished getting ready. Gone from about 7:20 till 10:15, Judy called shortly after I got home. Talked till 11:10, then I watched MacGyver on VCR. To bed at 12:45.

Tuesday, January 8, 1991: Woke at 6:30, fed Sam & went back to bed. Alarm woke me at 8:00; turned up heat & dressed. Had breakfast, O.J., coffee & toast. Gathered up garbage & hauled to front, started working on Bible study. Got sleepy so took a nap, went in & did reading in blue chair. Was so comfortable I kept dozing off, had lunch. Finished study about 3:30, looked at ads, etc. Got in mail & paper, brought garbage can back. Made dressing for crab salad, had supper. Did dishes, watched TV till 9:00. Went in & watched VCR, read paper. Came back to kitchen & paid water bill, made up deposit. Checked groc. ads, brushed teeth & got ready for bed. To bed at 11:55.

Wednesday, January 9, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep. Again at 7:30, turned up heat & fed Sam. Went back to bed & got up at 8:00, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left pretty early because it was foggy & tho’t it might be slick. After Bible class went out to Mall, got a robe for Bill’s B’Day & one for Paula too. Got a unicorn for Carla, back to Caldwell. Went to Bank, Alb & no Creamettes, paid water bill, P.W. Drug (got odds & ends), then to Paul’s for groc. Got home about 3:30, unloaded car. Put away groc., etc, looked at mail. Got sleepy so took nap, talked to Linda. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watched TV, then VCR. Read paper & “ [watched] TV & VCR. To bed at 11:45.

Thursday, January 10, 1991: Woke about 5:00, back to sleep. Woke at 8:00, got up & fed Sam. Turned up heat, dressed. Had breakfast, opened Sam’s door but he never did go out in back. Paid Income Tax Est., went out & swept walks & drive (snowed a little again last nite). Mailed letter, had breakfast. Washed load of colored clothes, put birdseed out. Cleaned spots on rug where Sam vomited, sprayed w/rug shampoo. Looked at old mail, got sleepy so took nap. Had lunch, dried clothes. Did a little mending, started to water & fertilize violets. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Judy called at end of Father Dowling so I missed the end of it – again. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Watched VCR, then watched TV again & read paper. After news I watched VCR again. Finished Globe X-word, to bed at 1:30.

Really warmed up, raining tonight. Friday, January 11, 1991: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep till alarm rang at 8:00. Turned it off & went back to sleep till 8:25 so watched “Wheel” in bed, got up at 9:00. Turned up heat & fed Sam, got dressed. Opened Sam’s door, finished watering violets. Had breakfast, washed & put up hair. Washed load of good white clothes, dried hair a little while. Watched TV, read rest of last night’s paper. Had lunch. Nancy came over a little bit & brought in my mail. Dried white clothes, went out to get paper at 6:00 & it wasn’t there – makes me mad. Shut Sam’s door about 6:00 thinking he was in, didn’t show up so I checked & found him by the front door about 7:00. Boy, did he give me a talking to! Got supper, did dishes. Read paper a little, went in & watched VCR. After news put white clo. to soak, finished dry others. Brushed teeth. Oh yes, cleaned off turkey bones this afternoon & started soup. To bed at 12:30.

Helen & Don’s anniv – 49 – Saturday, January 12, 1991: Woke about 6:30, turned up heat & went back to sleep. Woke next at 8:30, tired so dozed off again until 9:20. Got up & fed Sam, turned heat up more. Took shower, dressed. Opened Sam’s door, had O.J. & Shake. Watered & fertilized rest of flowers, vacuumed living room. Cooked soup & put in vegetables, washed white clothes out of soak. Then added rest of whites & washed all, pretty tired by then so laid down & took nap (Sam napped w/me). Started to vacuum kitchen, time for Hee Haw so filled Foot Fixer & soaked feet while I watched. When it was over I changed clothes & got ready to go to Nancy’s, had chili & rice crispie squares (Cindy made both). Afterwards played 31, Paul won both games. Got home about 9:40, finished [vacuum?] kitchen. Dried more clothes, watched TV. Then watched VCR. To bed at 1:20.

Sunday, January 13, 1991: Sam woke me at 7:30, turned up heat & went back to bed. Couldn’t sleep so read, got up at 8:00. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Dried rest of clothes, folded & put away. Finished getting ready for church, drove by the remains of the Saratoga on the way down – it looks awful. Had coffee after church, 12:30 when I got home. Changed clothes, let Sam out. Cindy came over to practise piano, I went down & fixed Mike’s shirt. Did some other mending while I was down there, checked & no water in basement. Read paper, Cindy called & they were ready to go out to eat. Linda, Ted & Megan went too, also Paul; went in Nancy’s van. Went to Sizzler, had shrimp but didn’t agree too well. When I got home read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR. To bed at 12:35.

Monday, January 14, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to bed & slept till 8:10. Got up about 8:30, dressed. Fed Sam, opened his door. Dried, folded & put away rest of red load; washed dk. blue clothes. Took letters to box, did misc. odd jobs. Had breakfast & watched “Wheel” at 11:00 (on NBC again), looked at mail & catalogs. Looked for car coupons but didn’t find them, bagged up newspapers. Dried part of blue clothes, had lunch. Rinsed dishes, put away plastic plates & cups. Went out to get mail & paper, really raining hard. Snow is really going down. Got supper, did dishes Looked at mail, watched TV. After news went in & watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:11.

Tuesday, January 15, 1991: Woke at 7:30, turned up heat & went back to bed. Dozed & read a little, got up about 9:00. Dressed, fed Sam. Opened his door, dried rest of dark blue clothes. Had O.J. & choc. Shake for breakfast, took garbage to front. Started on Bible lesson, tried to call Linda but no answer. Finally finished lesson about 1:00, looked at old mail & papers. Had lunch, Helen F. came. Looked through more stuff on table, called & talked to Linda about 5:30-6:00. Got supper, went out & got mail & paper. Bro’t garbage can back, finished supper. Looked at mail; did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watched TV, then went in & watched VCR. Got box of candy ready & wrote to Matt while I watched news. Looked at catalog, brushed teeth & got ready for bed. To bed at 12:40.

WAR W/IRAQ. Wednesday, January 16, 1991: Woke about 4:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, got up about 7:45. Fed Sam, turned up heat. Washed & dressed, let Sam out a little. Closed his door again before I left. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left about 9:50, had kind of a long session today – talked some about possibility of war. Stopped at Penny Wise first, went to Coffee Cup for lunch. To Kings, having sale there. Then to Paul’s for groceries, stopped at cemetery & got Xmas decor. on way home. Tree still decorated? don’t know who did it! Unloaded car & put away groc., home at 3:00. Watched TV, at about 4:50 they said war had started in Iraq. That’s all that was on all evening. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Watched VCR & TV, read paper. Carla called, upset about war. To bed at 12:50.

Thursday, January 17, 1991: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:00, got up about 8:15. Got dressed, fed Sam. Opened his door, then had breakfast (O.J. & toast). Washed load of sweatsuits, went through Xmas wrappings but didn’t find anything. Took sack out to garbage, also took out old catfood. Got ready to take car down, waited in office & read while they serviced it. Stopped at Alb. on way home but no Creamettes, got a few things. Got home about 12:30, had lunch. Watched TV, did rest of Globe X-word – all but 2 words. Got sleepy so took nap, Sharon Nunes came so paid her & gave her an order. Started to work on Xmas things, got in mail & paper. Dried clothes in afternoon, got supper. Judy called, then I called Linda. Did dishes, looked at mail & watched TV. Iraq bombed Israel tonight. Watched VCR, read paper. To bed at 1:10. Put new flower in pot & planted 1 rose.

Friday, January 18, 1991: Woke at 5:00, back to sleep. Woke again about 7:30, read & napped. Got up at 8:30, turned up heat & fed Sam. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, washed & put up hair. Brought up boxes from basement, moved night stand in bedroom. Put rest of decor. in boxes, stopped & had lunch. Stored decorations on closet shelves, then vacuumed window & floor in corner. Put nightstand back in place, went out & got mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper & TV guide, watched TV. Late in the evening said Iraq bombed Israel again. Thank goodness no chemical warheads tho’, only a few slight injuries. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:12.

Saturday, January 19, 1991: Woke about 3:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, turned up heat & went back to bed. Read a little, fell asleep. Got up at 8:30, fed Sam. Opened his door, had O.J., coffee & toast. Did some misc. jobs, put away clothes, etc., Cindy came over to practise piano. Finally took shower & dressed, cleaned up bath. Vacuumed floor, cleaned mirrors, vacuumed living room, had lunch. Vacuumed kitchen, dining room. Rested a little, took short nap. Started to put away stuff on dining table, got late so had to quit. Shut Sam’s door, got in mail. Got supper, did dishes. Cleaned chicken legs, later washed, bagged & put them in freezer. Worked on stuff on kitchen table, watched TV. Grand Ole Opry 65th anniversary party tonight, was real good. To bed at 12:30.

Sunday, January 20, 1991: Sam woke me little before 7:00, couldn’t go back to sleep. Read till alarm went off at 8:00, got up & washed & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left a little early so I could stop & take pix of burned-out Saratoga Hotel. So sleepy in church I could hardly stay awake, Linda wasn’t there & neither were Nancy & Cindy. Didn’t stay for the dinner, stopped at P.W. on way home & got a wind chime for Bill. Changed clothes when I got home, Cindy came to practise piano. Had coffee & toast for lunch. Took short nap, Carla came. Talked to her, decided we’d go down to Asia & eat so she could see the hotel. Stopped to see Linda on way down, she has a real bad cold. Carla left when we got back, I watched TV. Read paper, got real sleepy. Watched VCR after news. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:15.

Monday, January 21, 1991: Woke at 4:30, back to sleep till 6:45. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Went out & watched VCR till 8:30. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Did misc. little jobs, had breakfast. Read paper a little, started putting Xmas decorations in boxes. Now to find a place to store them, it’s just too hard to climb up & down stairs with those boxes. Had lunch, took nap. Linda called, I read an old paper. Went out & got paper, started supper. After 6:30 when I got it ready, just started to eat when Paula called. Hung up & took a few bites & Nancy called, had my jigsaw puzzle framed so were going to bring it over – said they’d wait a little. Back to my supper & Judy called, told her I’d call her back so finished my supper. After Paul & Nancy left I called Judy, asked her to go out to supper tomorrow night. Did dishes & ran dishwasher, watched TV & read paper. After news watched VCR a little. Brushed teeth, read a while. To bed 2:00.

JUDY’S ANNIV. – EDDIE  Tuesday, January 22, 1991: Sam woke me up about 6:30, scolded him & went back to sleep. Woke again at 8:30, got up & dressed. Opened Sam’s door, had O.J. & choc. Shake. Called Linda but no answer, started to work on Bible lesson. Four chapters today, pretty hard & worked on it all day. Had lunch about 1:30, worked on lesson again. Mike came over a little bit, started getting washed & changed clothes about 4:00. Went down to pick up Judy at 5:00, went to the Chuck Wagon for supper. Have made some changes in it, put in windows on S. & S.E. corner of dining room. Also painted inside a light color so looks much lighter & more airy. Had a good dinner, got home little after 7:00. Finished Bible study, talked to Linda. Read papers, watched TV. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:30. Napped several times today & this eve.

Wednesday, January 23, 1991: Woke about 7:00 but didn’t get up, when I woke again was 8:40 so really had to hurry to get ready. Dressed, had toast, coffee & O.J. Finished getting ready, was there early. Linda didn’t go, don’t know if she worked or not. Stopped for catfood on way home, went to P.W. for med., forgot deposit, then to Pauls for groc. Got home at 2:00, unloaded car. Had lunch, put away groc. Looked at Globe, worked X-word a little. Went in & watched VCR, Mike called. Went out & got mail & paper, looked at mail. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & rinsed dishes. Watched VCR from 8 to 10, then watched news. Watched VCR again, read paper. Then looked at Soap Opera paper. To bed at 2:00.

Bill’s B’Day. Thursday, January 24, 1991: Woke at 6:30, went back to sleep. Woke several times but went right back to sleep, got up about 8:30. Dressed, turned up heat & fed Sam. Opened his door, called Linda & she was home today. Had breakfast, coffee, toast & O.J. Finished watering flowers, watered violets. Put away rest of Xmas decorations, stored boxes on top of laundry cabinet – won’t be so hard to get to now. Had lunch, looked at mail from yesterday. Tried to reconcile bank statement but last month’s is missing so I couldn’t finish it. Wrote Thank you note to Lillian P. for my cross, got sleepy so took a nap. Judy called, went out & took down bows & garland from lamp post – put that away, too. Cleaned off dining table, washed [flower?] rings. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, called Carla & Bill for his Birthday, called Paula, too. Read paper, watched TV. Brushed teeth, worked on Globe X-word a while. To bed at 12:50. 

Friday, January 25, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to bed, read a while till oil truck came so I got up to pay for oil. Over $100.00! Opened Sam’s door, dressed. Had breakfast, called Linda but no answer. Tried Judy, too, but no answer, finished reading yesterday’s paper. Washed & put up my hair, finished watering violets. Had lunch, watched TV. Straightened up carton of boxes, played a little solitaire. Got sleepy so took nap, tried Linda again & got her. She did have to work again today, I had 1 call inquiring about “Subs,” may call back tomorrow. Nancy did get Judy, finally made Yum-Yum Salad. Went out & got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. After news watched VCR, brushed teeth. To bed at 1:20.

Saturday, January 26, 1991: Woke about 7:00, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to bed, read & slept a little. Michelle called to ask for an Alb. coupon so stayed up (about 9), opened Sam’s door. Had O.J. & Shake, finished last night’s paper. Took letters to mail box & coupons to Michelle, did various odd jobs. Ginger Dowen called about sand. orders, was supposed to call back but never did. Tried to call Judy but no answer, had a little lunch. Oh yes, Cindy came this morning & I bought raffle tickets from her for Wilson School Dinner. Started working on sack of papers, got rid of quite a few. Finally went out & got mail, shut Sam’s door. Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Worked on papers again, watched TV. Before news went in & watched VCR for about ½ hr., took shower. Brushed teeth & cut toe nails. To bed at 12:35.

SUPERBOWL SUN., January 27, 1991: Woke about 4:30, back to sleep till about 7:45. Got up, fed Sam & turned up heat. Washed & dressed, let Sam out a little bit. Called Nancy & then she called me, Ginger called & also Linda. Had breakfast, finished getting ready for church. Left a little early. After services had coffee, etc., paid for and picked up sandwiches. Got home about 12:30, changed clothes. Worked on papers, Carla came about 2:30. We sat at table & talked, about 4:30 I set out chips, dips, sandwiches, salad. Had baked a frozen pie but were too full to eat it so sent some along home w/Carla. Also sent Paula’s sandwiches & letter, Carla left about 6:00. Game started at 4:00, I turned over to “Murder –” at 7:00. Read paper & watched TV, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50.

Monday, January 28, 1991: Woke about 2:30, back to sleep. Again at 7:30, turned up heat & fed Sam. Went back to bed, read & napped a little. Got up at 8:30, dressed. Put away some clothes, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, called Linda but no answer. Looked thru’ papers for car alert item, didn’t find it yet. Decided to do Bible lesson today so worked on that, went out & shut gate the oil man left open. Had lunch about 1:00, worked on lesson again. Took out garbage & hauled it to front, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes. Looked at mail & papers again, watched TV. (Talked to Linda in afternoon, she & Megan stopped to get her Bible lesson paper). After news went in & watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40.

Tuesday, January 29, 1991: Woke at 7:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Went back to bed, read & [napped?]. Woke again at 8:30, got up about 9:00. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Hung up some clothes, looked through some papers but never did find car item. Had O.J, toast & coffee, took buckle off white belt. Sorted & fixed New Years hats, etc., went downstairs & scrubbed spot on tile. Found Sam had sprayed door & bottoms of chest, washed them up, too, & sprayed w/deodorizer. Had lunch, played a little solitaire. Sorted papers, watched TV. Took a pretty good nap, Paula called in a.m., coming over tomorrow eve to cut my hair. Went out to get mail & paper, wheeled garbage cans back. Got supper, took nap while Pres. talked. Did dishes, soaked sink & mats. Read paper, watched TV. After news watched 911 on VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Wednesday, January 30, 1991: Woke about 7:55, turned off alarm & got up. Turned up heat, fed Sam. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Got lists & deposit ready, finished getting myself ready. Linda wasn’t there so went out to Mall, got VCR cabinet. Came back & went to Bank, to P.W. Drug, to Paul’s for groc., got gas, then home. Stopped at cemetery & took decor. off tree, got home about 3:00. Unloaded & put away groc., watched TV & worked Globe X-word. Started supper about 5, scrubbed potatoes, washed cauliflower & cut it up, set table, made coffee, fixed salad. Got in paper, Paula came about 6:30. Put Sam in bedroom, finished up supper. Was really good. Jim called, got home O.K. Sent some stuff home for his supper. Cleared table & Paula cut my hair, then she left. I worked on X-word, watched TV. After news watched VCR, brushed my teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Last day of Jan.! Thursday, January 31, 1991: Woke at 7:30, went back to sleep till 8:20. Got up about 8:30, fed Sam & turned up heat. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Tried to call Linda but no answer, had O.J. & Shake. Worked on big X-word & watched TV, after Wheel went down & got clothes ready for ARC. Mended a few that needed mending. Fixed belt for my white dress, put yellow ribbons on little tree. Washed & put up hair, had lunch. Went down & worked on clothes again. Helen F. came & brought my order, said she’d come back so then I couldn’t go downstairs again – afraid I wouldn’t hear the doorbell. After she came back & left I went down & worked again, then did dishes & ran dishwasher. Went out & got mail & paper, got supper. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Judy called, read paper & watched TV. Finished folding & boxing clothes, washed face & brushed teeth. Put on cream on spots. To bed at 11:00.
