Yr. will soon be half gone again! Saturday, June 1, 1991: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam & went back to bed. Slept till about 7:30, got up & let Sam out. Watched VCR a while, called Paula. Dressed, had breakfast. Went out & finished weeding sunflowers from bed by house, then worked on those S. of drive. Came in about 1:00, had lunch. Took ladder around & put up shades on front porch, really needed them today. Vacuumed living room, kitchen, bath, hall & dining room, watched Hee Haw. Took short nap, then went out & set out snapdragons. Watered them a little, got in mail. Had letter from city about meeting Mon. at 9:00. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watched TV, then went in & watched VCR. Wired gate shut today. Fixed strawberries after supper, washed & sugared them. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Sunday, June 2, 1991: Woke about 6:20, fed Sam. Went back to sleep till 7:30, got up & opened Sam’s door. Took shower, dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left for church about 10:00, had practice downstairs for a little bit. Confirmation today, also Communion so a long service. Had reception for Confirmands after church, I brought Laura home. Picked up pix at Albertsons, got a few groc. at Paul’s, then home. (1:30) Changed clothes, Carla came & soon after Paula. Brought their new Blazer, really nice. We talked a while, then I fixed supper, steak, baked potatoes, cheesed asparagus, lettuce salad, iced tea, & strawberry shortcake. Carla left & Paula & I went over to get our planters at cemetery – they were gone! Boy that makes me mad! We brought some flowers back & took Nancy’s planters over to her, they were still there. After Paula left I did dishes, then watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40. Really warm today.

Monday, June 3, 1991: Woke at 4:30, fed Sam. Went back to sleep till 7:30, got up & let Sam out. Had breakfast, washed & dressed. Called Judy, finished getting ready. Left about 8:15, picked up Judy & we went over to watch Cindy’s B.B. practice a little bit. Then went over to Sr. Cit. Ctr. for our meeting. Got out about 9:45, took Judy to Wash. Fed. & then I came home. Hauled garbage can to front, clipped some roses. Changed clothes, worked outside a while. Watched Concentration, then “Wheel” on VCR. Went out again & transplanted snaps, pulled sunflowers. Watered my spot in front, came in & had lunch. First planted rest of flowers in front, took nap in P.M. About 5: went out & pulled more sunflowers, watered flower beds. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, watched TV & read paper. Watched VCR a little but got sleepy so got ready for bed. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30. Ear hurting today. ←Linda never did call???

Tuesday, June 4, 1991: Woke at 5:25, back to bed. Read & dropped off to sleep again. Alarm woke me at 7:00, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left for downtown about 8:45. Magic Mirror has moved, down where Tru-Beauty  used to be now. My hair really looked nice, went to Bank, P.W. Drug & Albertsons. Got home about 11:30, cut some peonies & took down to Nancy. Worked on sunflowers again, surely windy & cold again. Cindy came up & mowed, Nancy helped me pull sunflowers. Came in & had lunch. Got a few more things for suitcase, took nap. Went out & finished flower bed, got in mail & paper. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watched TV & read paper, then VCR a while. Linda called, staying in ____ KY tonite. Got to Cheyenne about 7:00 last night, had a bad rain & hail storm. On way down to GA. now, no car trouble so far. To bed at 1:00.

Wednesday, June 5, 1991: Woke at 5:30, fed Sam & went back to bed. Read till I fell asleep, woke at 7:25. Got up & opened his door, dressed. Started packing suitcases, had breakfast. Did misc. jobs getting ready to go, wound clock, locked windows & doors, etc. Made several telephone calls, had lunch. Helen F. came for her tub pole, left Linda’s Avon stuff. Finished lunch, read some papers. Paid taxes, was going to pay Inc. Tax. Est. but couldn’t find notices. Had to call Carla to see if she can get me some, can’t imagine what happened to them. Took Cindy on her paper route at 4:00, watered Linda’s geranium, flower bed & gave Marty his treats. Cindy went with me to take Sam out to vets, got film at Albs. Got supper, did dishes. Emptied dishwasher this afternoon. Read paper, watched TV. Ordered dress from Blair, cooked veggies. Took shower, washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:50. Have to get up at 5:00.

LEAVE FOR PORTLAND 8:00 A.M.  Thursday, June 6, 1991: Alarm rang at 5:00, got up & dressed. Had breakfast, got ready to go. Mike & Cindy came at 7:15, went down & got Judy. Got up to Phillips 66 & loaded on bus, left at 8:00. Stopped at rest stops several times, had lunch in the Blues near Pendleton. Stopped at Bonneville Dam, saw sturgeon & trout & fish going over fish ladder. Stopped at Multnomah Falls, then came on to Holiday Inn at Wilsonville. Had supper at their restaurant, kind of expensive but lots of food – too much, actually. Came back to room (310). Unpacked & hung up clothes, watched news. Read a little & got sleepy. Got ready for bed. 11:15. To bed – 11:35.

Woke up at 2:30 but went right back to sleep. Friday, June 7, 1991: Had alarm set for 6:30 but Judy woke up at 6:10 so I did too, got up & dressed. Got ready & went down to breakfast, then to bus. Left for Lloyd’s Center about 9:00, went to Rose Show. Really were some beautiful flowers; of course, I forgot my camera. Got some hair spray there, left Rose Show at 12:30. Went to _____ Rest. for lunch, visited thrift shop & bought 2 skirts. From there went to Grotto, was a beautiful place. Went up in elevator & took a walk around grounds, got a couple souvenirs. Drove around a while & then went to Antique & looked around a while. Drove around again & then went to Organ Grinder Pizza. Organ music there about like Show Time – so loud it hurt your ears. Judy & I shared a Pizza. Back to Motel – want to take a shower tonight. Rose Parade tomorrow. Bed about 11:30.

Saturday, June 8, 1991: Got up at 2:30, back to sleep. Alarm set for 6:00 so got up & got dressed, went down & had breakfast (French toast). Got on bus & left for Portland, kind of hard time getting down to Coliseum. Had to go up quite a few stairs to get to our seats, could see real well tho’. Loved the parade, every time there were horses there would be a little “pooper” wagon drive through. After the parade went to North’s Chuck Wagon for dinner, (4.39) had a good dinner. Then came back to Motel, took a nap. About 5:00 changed & got ready to go to concert, had a bowl of soup & tea. Concert at a theater, Doc Severinson was real good & enjoyed it a lot. Came back to Motel, then over to J.Bs &  had pie & coffee. Got to our room at 12:15, hung up clothes, washed & got ready for bed. 1:00.

Sunday, June 9, 1991: Woke at 2:30 & again at 4:00, back to sleep. Woke at 5:17 just before alarm rang, got up & dressed. Fixed face & got ready to go, down to bus by 7:30. Went over to JBs for breakfast, then came back over & picked up rest of group. Left for beach, sunny but cold & windy when we got there. Soon went back to town & did rest of our souvenir shopping, met at Morris’ Fireside Inn at 1:30 for dinner – was real good. After we ate all piled on bus & drove up Coast to Seaside & Astoria, saw the wreck of The Peter Iredale. Not much left of it, sank in 1906. Went to Fort Steele? (1904-1944), only place bombed by Japanese during WWII. Crossed Columbia R. at Astoria, took us up to see Astoria Column. Left for home, went over to J.Bs when we got home & had salad bar. Back at Motel packed suitcases, took shower, washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40.

Monday, June 10, 1991: Woke about 2:30 & 4:00, back to sleep. Again woke at 5:55 just before alarm rang. Got up & dressed, finished packing. Finished packing & put suitcases in hall, went down to breakfast. Ready to go at 8:00. Drove steadily to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood, beautiful place. After a while went on to Madras, Or., had lunch there. Came on to Caldwell but getting late. Saw lots of deer & antelope, also a possible forest fire. Got in about 9:30, so surprised to see Mike there to meet us. Took Judy home, came up home & Nancy, Mike & Cindy came over a little. Gave them their souvenirs, then they soon went home. Got things in order, had some soup, then to bed. Awfully tired. About 1:00.

Roy & Phyllis Anniv. – 1939.  Tuesday, June 11, 1991: Woke at 2:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 5:30, back to sleep again till 7:57. Got up & dressed, called to ask if Sam was ready to come home. Called Cindy & asked her to go along to get him ($63.00), boy did he talk to us on the way home! Went out & worked in flower bed a little while, watered E. end. Transplanted several sunflowers. Watered S. flower bed (tomato plants), had breakfast. Unpacked suitcases, watered some flowers inside. Changed to cooler clothes, had lunch. Took nap, still didn’t feel very well so laid down & slept for quite a while. Seem to have a sore gland in L. side of neck, Carla called. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. After news watched VCR but kept falling asleep (911), to bed at 1:18. Brushed teeth.

Wednesday, June 12, 1991: Woke at 7:25, got up & dressed. Fed Sam, opened his door. Wind is chilly this morn, went for my walk. They took all flowers off Daddy & Jay’s graves – nothing left. When I got back transplanted some sunflowers & snapdragons, watered Paul’s Scarlet Rose. Dug out flowers & dirt, laid one block by drive in flower bed. Came in & had breakfast, watered violets. Used weed-eater & trimmed both front & back, came in & washed & put up hair. Have sore gland in my neck yesterday & today. Had lunch, soaked my feet & watched TV. Took nap, Cindy came over & mowed. I started working on hand puppet, Ernie. Went out to put car away, water in front & get in paper. Saw Nancy & Cindy & they said Linda & Ted were home, asked me to come over for spaghetti. Changed clothes, fixed some garlic bread. Went over about 7:00, came home at 10:00. Watched VCR a while after news, kept going to sleep. To bed at 1:30.

Thursday, June 13, 1991: Woke at 4:30, fed Sam & went back to sleep. Woke at 7:30, got up & let Sam out. Took shower, dressed. Had breakfast, made up deposit & grocery list. Finished getting ready to go downtown. Worked on Ernie a while, watered violets. Got in planters & put in car, also artificial flowers. Had lunch, went downtown about 2:00. Went to Bank, to P.W. Drug, took film to Alb. & got more snaps. Then to Pauls for groc. & home. Oh, yes, stopped at cemetery on way down & left planters & flowers. When I got home (4:00) I unloaded car, put away groc. Got in mail & paper, watched VCR till 6:00. Got supper & ate, worked on Ernie & watched TV. Did dishes, Judy called. Watched VCR, watered more violets all afternoon & eve. Called this afternoon & made appts. w/Dr. & service for car. To bed at 12:50. Larry Bond called me from Notus today – on his way to Ia.

FLAG DAY  Friday, June 14, 1991: Woke at 5:30, fed Sam. Back to sleep, woke again at 7:30. Tried to go back to sleep a little but couldn’t so read. Got up at 8:30 & let Sam out. Dressed, called Linda but she had a meeting so couldn’t walk. I went for my walk, wind was cold so I wore a sweater. When I got back watered S.W. corner of yard, came in & had breakfast, finished watering violets. Looked at mail, paid Tax Est. & gas bill. Got ready & took car down for service at 11:30, they also rotated tires. Stopped at P.W. Drug & got anniv. card for Paula & Jim, mailed it when I got home. Cut boquet of peonies & took over to Linda, had lunch & took nap when I got home. Read paper & more mail, watched VCR a little. Went out & planted & watered new snaps, clipped nails this afternoon. Got in mail & paper, got supper & ate. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Read paper & watched TV, watched VCR. Fixed & washed strawberries, brushed teeth. Bed – 1:00.

Saturday, June 15, 1991: Woke at 6:30, fed Sam. Back to sleep till 7:30, got up about 8:00 & turned up heat! Really chilly this morning. Dressed, opened Sam’s door. Had breakfast, watered flower beds & shrubs in front all day. Didn’t go for walk as my blister was pretty sore. Nancy called, wanted some aloe as Mike burned himself & was hurting. Gave her the Foille also, hope it helped. Brought in petunias from patio, awfully dry – hope they make it. Had lunch, put my head down & slept a little. Cleaned living room, swept porch. Got in mail, got supper. Judy called, had talked to Paula. Did dishes, vacuumed kitchen, hall, bath, dining room & sm. bath. Watered rest of flowers, read paper & watched news. Watched Hee Haw on VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:00.

Sunday, June 16, 1991: Woke about 5:30, back to sleep. (Fed Sam). Woke again at 7:30, opened Sam’s door. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, to church at 10:00. No organ music today, Robbie H. played the guitar. No coffee hour either, till fall. Stopped at Alb. for pix but weren’t ready yet, got some petunias. When I got home changed clothes, watched Bob Ross Painting. Got in meat & thawed in microwave, went over to cemetery & took baskets over. Also picks for planters, pruned trunk of little tree. Cut grass around & between stones, cleaned off dead grass. When I got home put meat on rotiss., made up salad. Cooked potatoes, husked corn. Carla & Bill came about 4:00, we ate about 5:00. Just finished when Paula & Jim came, they finished up the rest of supper. Bill put weed killer on lawn. After they left I did dishes & ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR & napped. To bed at 1:36.

Paula & Jim’s anniv. Monday, June 17, 1991: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Tel. woke me at about 6:30, Nancy calling to tell me that Leona passed away this A.M. at 5:30 ILL. time. Got up & fed Sam, opened his door. Called Linda, said she would walk w/me today. I got dressed, had breakfast. We walked about 9:30, I started washing clothes when I got back. Called Carla about 11:30, started kind of getting clothes ready to pack. Dried, folded, hung up & put away clothes, Nancy called & said funeral would be Wed. so we have to leave tomorrow; she called & made reservations. Kind of expensive but felt we should go. (Paul going, too). Got supper, emptied dishwasher & did dishes. Finished pack clothes & made arrangements, Cindy going to take care of Sam. Called neighbors & Judy. Have to take shower yet so better get to bed, 11:40 now!

Tuesday, June 18, 1991: Got up at 5:30, fed Sam & opened his door. Dressed, had juice, etc. Finished up suitcases & got ready to go, Nancy came about 6:30. Stopped for Linda & Megan, then Paul. Took quite a while to get our tickets, plane overbooked so not sure if we were going to go but finally made it. Only 1 vacant seat on plane so Paul got to sit by the window. Were a little late in leaving but on time rest of the way. Mark & Megan met us in Peoria, got sleepy on way to Fairbury. Changed clothes & went up to funeral home for visitation, lots of people came through. I finally went & stood in line, too, saw lots of people I knew & some relation, too. Had lunch ready for us at Rosie’s afterwards & all came down here. Judy & I slept in the Motor Home, really slept good. Got up at 6:00.

Wednesday, June 19, 1991: Came in & got washed, brushed teeth. Had roll & coffee, got dressed & ready to go to funeral. Was at their church, nice service. Leona looked so nice & very natural, she is buried next to Grandma. After the cemetery we went back to church for dinner, had ham, cheese, all kinds of salads, fruit & cakes, etc., coffee. Was surely good. Afterwards went back to Rosie & Ralphs; Alice & Al, Marie, Clyde & Donna came later, also Sam & Norma a while. Was sleepy so finally went in & took a nap, felt much better after that. Rosie fixed supper & we ate, lots & lots of food brought in. Sam’s leaving for Arkansas (I think) in morning. All tired so went to bed early. I unpacked suitcases & writing in diary. Nearly 12:00.

Thursday, June 20, 1991: Woke during night, back to sleep. Woke again about 8:00, got up & made bed. Went out & had coffee & roll. All left except Alice & I, washed & dressed & fixed face. Helped Alice empty dishwasher, shook rugs, watered petunia hanging basket in front, scratch roasting pan clean, etc. Sat around & visited, then laid down & had a nap again. When I got up every one gone. At 10 to 4:00 Rosie came & took me down to Betty Hetherington & had my hair washed & set. Rosie came & got me & then we sat & talked again. Had a couple of drinks. Mark & Mary Jo came in a little bit, they went down & got Marie. We had a light supper, then sat & talked again. Went to bed about 12:00. I fell asleep writing in my diary. Turned out my light at 2:25.

Got real cloudy & thundered this eve but no rain. Friday, June 21, 1991: Woke about 8:15, finished writing in diary. Got up & had roll & coffee, then took shower & dressed. Alice went to have her hair done so I was alone for a while. Folded up Paul’s bed, cleared table, put dishes in dishwasher, made my bed. Alice & Karen came, then Rosie & Becky. She fixed lunch & we all ate, then Rosie went to have her hair done. ^{^Alice &} I cleared up again, loaded dishwasher & Becky turned it on. We watched A.W. & St. B., changed clothes to go down to Maries. Left for Pontiac about 4:30, ate at The Log Cabin. Had salad, baked chicken, mashed pot. & gravy, coffee & rolls. Very good. Went to Wal-Mart & got a few things. Came back to Fairbury & drove around a little, stopped at R&Rs & visited & watched ball game. Kay & Rod came, also Margies girls & Becky & friend. R&R came home, soon went to bed.

Saturday, June 22, 1991: Woke about 7:30, got up about 8:00. Went out & had coffee & roll, Alice & Al getting ready to leave. Left about 9:00-9:30, Rosie & I sat & talked all morning. Washed & dressed, didn’t do much of anything. Had lunch, late in afternoon called to see if Marie wanted to come down. Went to get her, cloudy all day & much cooler. Paul & Ralph went to races, we had soup & sandwiches, potato salad, etc. Margie & Pam came in so Rosie gave her some of the food, maybe she’ll get rid of it yet. Jane & Carl called, came in for a while; took Marie home when they left. Ralph made some popcorn & they looked for ball scores, Cubs lost again. To bed at 12:00.

Sunday, June 23, 1991: Woke & went to bathroom about 6:30, back to sleep. Woke again about 7:30, read & dozed a little. Got up about 8:30, had coffee & rolls. After a while washed & dressed, made bed. Looked at funnies, visited. Donna called, said they would be up about 3-4. Had lunch, helped Rosie fold towels, etc. Clyde, Donna & Ricks came & later on Carol & Donnie. I scrubbed potatoes while they looked thru’ house. Ralph fixed steaks, Rosie baked potatoes. Surely were good. Never did get out to Margies. Cleared table & Rosie did dishes, visited. Clydes went home about 9:00. We sat around a while, then to bed. 11:11.

Monday, June 24, 1991: Woke during night, back to sleep. Woke again about 7:00, read & dozed a little. Got up about 8:30, had coffee & roll. Took shower, dressed. Packed suitcases, Marie came by to say goodbye. Paul went out to tell Mark goodbye, Rosie & Ralph came home for dinner. They went back to shop for a while, came home about 2:30 & we left for Peoria. Didn’t have too much time when we got there, flew in a F 57-500, 2-prop engines. Got to Chi right on time, had quite a ways to walk to get to our gate. Left Chi. right on time & got in to Boise a little early, had a good supper on plane. Nancy, Mike, Cindy, Linda & Megan there to meet us. Good to be home. Looked at some mail, also pix. To bed at 12:35.

Tuesday, June 25, 1991: Woke during early morning, back to sleep. Again at 7:30, read a little. Got up at 8:30, fed Sam. Opened his door, dressed & went outside to work. Saw Jan & her mother, they had to put Schottsie to sleep. Started watering flower bed, got it done by late P.M. Had breakfast, picked a few berries – more out there. Watered violets, didn’t get them finished. Had lunch, watched VCR. Watched Soaps, paid phone & power bills. Reconciled bank statements, never did get a nap. Linda called, reminded me of Cindy’s ball game so I changed & went down to watch it – they won. Got sugar on way home, had supper. Did dishes, went in to watch VCR. Slept through quite a bit of it. Brushed teeth. To bed at 1:15. Fixed shade in front.

Wednesday, June 26, 1991: Woke early, back to sleep. Woke again about 8:15, got up & fed Sam. Opened his door, got dressed. Went out & picked berries, raspberries ripening too. Came in & had breakfast, finished watering violets. Planted petunias in hanging planter, hung on plum tree. Worked outside a little more, washed & put up my hair. Had lunch, planted other hanging planter w/petunias. Started to water other flowers, took nice long nap. Got in mail & paper, dug dandelions & cut old blooms off peonies. Moved big planter back to tree stump. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR a while, got groc. list ready – have to go to Dr. tomorrow. Also go to VBS tomorrow afternoon. Brushed teeth, to bed at 1:00.

Thursday, June 27, 1991: Woke at 6:45, had diarrhea & didn’t feel very good. Felt better after a while, fed Sam & opened his door. Took shower & dressed, had breakfast. Set timer on VCR, finished getting ready. Left for Nampa about 9:30, didn’t have to wait long. Dr. said I seem to be fine, have to call in Mon. for results of blood tests & chest X-ray. Came back to Caldwell & had salad at McDs., went to Bank, then to church for VBS. Helped w/tie dyeing T-shirts first, then Matt & Kevin w/crafts for little ones. Done at 3:00, went to P.W. Drug & then Paul’s for groc. Got home at 4:40, unloaded & put away groc. Ate a little supper, set VCR timer again & went to Cindy’s ball game – real chilly. Got home about 8:00, soaked my feet & watched TV. Judy called, also read paper. Watched VCR but fell asleep so brushed my teeth & went to bed. __12:30.

Friday, June 28, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 8:15, got up & fed Sam. Watched VCR a while, then opened his door. Dressed, had breakfast. Fixed, washed & sugared S. berries, washed & sugared raspberries. Called Linda, decided to go down & help w/VBS this afternoon. Finished watering flowers, washed & changed clothes. Got ready & went down to church, helped w/tie-dyeing again – then went up & helped Matt & Kevin w/crafts. Went down & helped Mike’s class w/crafts, then home. Stopped at Travel Ser. on way home. Watched TV, took nap. Took Cindy to ball game, they won their 1st game – 22-2. Lost the second one, first game they lost all season. Play tomorrow at noon. Fixed supper when I got home, watched River Float Parade. Read paper, to bed at 1:00.

Saturday, June 29, 1991: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:15, got up & fed Sam. Cloudy & overcast, watched VCR a while. Opened Sam’s door, raining. Dressed, called Paula but no answer. Called Jacque & talked for quite a while, said “Hi” to Kayce. She’s doing O.K., rest of family too – Peggy had surgery. Also Pete had same surgery as Paula some time ago. Read papers on table & opened mail, really raining hard so ball games were called. Had B-B-Q & awards ceremony at noon at band shell. Cindy brought her awards over to show me, they’re really pretty. Rinsed dishes & ran dishwasher, had brunch at noon. Vacuumed living room, also kitchen. Tried Paula again & got busy signal, hung up & the phone rang & it was her. Must have E.S.P. Got supper, read old papers & watched TV. Then VCR again. Brushed teeth – to bed at 1:30.

Year ½ over. Sunday, June 30, 1991: Woke about 7:00, back to sleep till 8:00. Got up & fed Sam, washed & dressed. Opened his door, had breakfast. Finished getting ready for church, left at 10:00. Nancy, Cindy & Mike not there this morning, up at Crouch. Got a few groc. at Paul’s on way home, also flower for Ila. Went up to see her, having lot of pain today she said. Got home about 1:00, changed clothes. Had toast & coffee, watched painting. Emptied dishwasher, cleaned chicken. Put chicken in to cook part way, then put sauce on. Carla came, we made plans for 4th of July. Going to her place. Finished getting supper, we ate. Tried to call Linda to ask them over for supper but no answer. Carla left after supper, I cleared up. Did dishes, Nancy & Cindy got home. Looked at paper, watched TV. Watched VCR & napped. To bed at 1:30.

Weather change – blowing tonite. Monday, October 1, 1990: Woke about 6:15, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:30, fed Sam & let him out. Watched VCR a while, Linda called – has to sub this morning. My toe very red & sore so didn’t walk either. Clipped toenail & finally got out a long sharp piece, felt much better then. Had breakfast, dressed. Soaked foot in epsom salts water 3 times today. Washed load of dark colored clothes, dried them. Then a load of light colored, dried them, too. Put whites to soak, swept floor. Had shakes for bkfst. & lunch. Took little nap, moved plant tables out. Washed & waxed them, vacuumed under them. Got in & washed off white tables. Cleaned windows inside, put tables back. Dusted clock, pix in family room & hung back up. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Judy called, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR again, brushed teeth. To bed at 12:40.

Tuesday, October 2, 1990: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep. Woke at 8:00, got up & fed Sam. Let him out, dressed. Called Rosie & let her know we were coming, called Linda. Decided not to walk because of my toe but it’s lots better, had O.J. & milk shake for bkfst. Put out garbage, picked tomatoes. Brought in geraniums, also all flowers from patio. Ted & Joe came up & levelled oil barrel, took fireplace heater down to check out fan. Had shake for lunch, soaked toe again. Worked most of afternoon on Bible Study, finished it after supper. Emptied dishwasher, ran clothes out of soak water. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Watched VCR (Heat–), washed load of clothes. Brushed my teeth. To bed at 12:25.

Wednesday, October 3, 1990: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep. Woke w/alarm at 8:00. Got up & fed Sam, let him out. Dried some clothes, washed. Had breakfast, finished getting ready. Left about 10 till 10:00, Linda didn’t come – she had to “sub” again. After Bible Study went to Bank, P.W. Drug, then home; forgot to set VCR so fixed that. Paul came & brought his pants to be shortened. Nancy called. Had lunch, then went back down. Took jacket to cleaners, went to Kings, to M&W, Pauls, then home again. Put away groc., called for oil delivery. Watched TV, then VCR. Got in mail & paper, looked at mail. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR. To bed at 1:20.

Thursday, October 4, 1990: Woke at 6:50, fed Sam. Went back to bed but didn’t sleep so got up & watched VCR a while. Let Sam out, dressed. Had Shake for breakfast, called Linda but we didn’t walk. Dried rest of white clothes, went out & moved stuff on patio. Washed down east side of house, part of garage & part of N. side of house. Then washed front of garage, S side of house, rest of W. side, entry way & W. side. Surely was dirty & full of spider webs. Put water on S. maple, went in & changed clothes. Had veggies for lunch, read rest of paper. Took out hem in Paul’s pants & cut them off, ripped out seam in Linda’s jacket & got it ready to sew. Took little nap, Mike came to mow & woke me. Nancy here earlier, brought home croquet set. I dug dandelions while Mike mowed, came back in & finished clean sm. bath. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Judy called, I went in & watched VCR. Finished reading paper, brushed teeth. To bed at 2:00.

Friday, October 5, 1990: Woke at 6:45, fed Sam. Read & dozed a while, got up about 8:00. Dressed & opened Sam’s door, had Shake for bkfst. Called & talked to Linda a little while. Fixed fertilizer water for violets, started watering them. Transplanted grape ivy to sm. bathroom planter. Cindy came to practise piano, stayed a while. I went out to cover air conditioner. Mike just going by & he came & helped me. Trimmed broken branches on rhody, slid cement blox under oil barrel. Read rest of paper, looked at old mail. Had lunch, took little nap. Worked in sm. bath a little, also with geraniums. Went down & fixed Paul’s pants & pressed them, also Linda’s jacket. Got in mail & paper, raining. Fixed supper & ate, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR a little while, brushed teeth. Oh, yes, – washed & put up hair in A.M., dried it a little. To bed at 12:25. Nose a little runny – hope I’m not getting a cold!

Saturday, October 6, 1990: Woke at 6:30, fed Sam. Went back to bed, read & napped until 8:00. Got up at 8:30, opened Sam’s door. He doesn’t stay out very long when it’s cold out. Got dressed, took garbage out. Pulled up some glad stalks, trimmed little chrys. bushes again & threw away trimmings. Planted grape ivy in small bath, also other ivy in blue hanging planter. Had juice & Shake for breakfast, worked on geraniums, vacuumed living room & hall, did kitchen, had small san. for lunch. Cleaned pink bath, watered violets all day. Finally finished them this eve. Watched Hee Haw at 4:00, soaked my feet in Foot Fixer. Covered flowers & tomatoes, supposed to frost tonight. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Watered & fertilized rest of flowers, sorted letters & papers on table, etc. Watched TV, brushed teeth & got ready for bed. To bed at 1:05.

Sunday, October 7, 1990: Slept till alarm rang at 7:00, got up & turned up heat. Fed Sam, let him out. Had breakfast, took shower. Dressed, got ready for church. Left about 9:00, had frost this A.M. but my tomatoes are OK. Went to Bible class & then church, to coffee hour afterward. Stopped at store for milk on way home. Changed clothes, watched painting. Put ham in to bake, Carla came pretty early. We talked & then I went ahead  w/supper. Ate about 5:00, Carla left soon after. I emptied dishwasher, cleared table. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Brushed teeth & got ready for bed. Toe getting sore again so clipped out more toenail. Hope that helps now. To bed at 12:15.

Monday, October 8, 1990: Sam woke me at 6:50, went back to bed but couldn’t sleep so watched VCR till 8:15. Dressed, fed Sam & let him out. Had breakfast, called Linda but no answer. Found out she worked today. Put away some summer clothes, started cleaning windows on inside again. Got all done except big window in family room, back door, kitchen window & S. window in living room. Sliced ham off bone, washed beans & bro’t to a boil. Had lunch, ^{took nap.} watched & listened to soaps while I cleaned windows. Cooked beans & ham, called Linda when they were done & gave her about ½ of them & some ham for their supper. Got in paper, no mail today – Columbus Day (forgot to put out flag). Got supper, did dishes. Washed other hummingbird feeder. Brought in & planted 1 aloe plant this eve. Read paper, watched TV. Then VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:30.

Tuesday, October 9, 1990: Woke just before the alarm at 8:00 this morning. Got up & dressed, fed Sam & opened his door. Fixed shake for breakfast, watched VCR while I drank it. Cleaned S. living room window, kitchen window, back door. Worked in fam. room a little, did Bible Lesson. Finished about 1:00, fixed shake for dinner. Helen F. came so had to wait & drink it after she left. Greenscape man came & sprayed around house for spider barrier, had to keep Sam in a while. Worked in fam. room again, tried to hook up stereo but doesn’t play – maybe I have speakers hooked up wrong. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Did dishes, watched TV. Called Linda, looked at mail. Watched VCR & soaked foot in vinegar water. Not nearly so sore tonite, hope it stays that way. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:35.

Wednesday, October 10, 1990: Woke about 4:30, read a while then fell asleep. Woke at 8:00, got up & fed Sam. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Finished getting ready, took out garbage. Paid some bills, went to Bible Study. When we got out came home because I forgot to take my pills, also turned on VCR. Rained a little just as I took out garbage in A.M. Met Linda at Travel Ser. & got return seat assignments, then we went out to Perkins & I bought her lunch for her birthday. She brought me back & picked up my car, got jacket at cleaners, took cans, etc. to Recycling (1.46), went to Bank, to P.W. Drug, groc. at Pauls, got gas, then home. Stopped at cemetery but Paula’s planter gone. Unloaded groc., etc., put away. Watched VCR, got in mail & paper. Got supper, watched VCR again. Did dishes, read paper & watched TV. Then VCR again. Toe feeling much better. To bed at 12:15.

Thursday, October 11, 1990: Woke about 6:00, fed Sam. Back to bed & read until alarm rang at 8:00, slept a little. Got up, had Shake. Got dressed, washed zuchini [sic]. Cleaned outside of door windows, took covers off tomatoes. Picked all little tomatoes & brought in, brought in impatiens, also parsley & 1 tomato plant. Transplanted petunias & verbenas to big white planter & brought it in. Took down screens & cleaned outside of windows on N. side of house, came in &  had Shake. Grated zuchini & made a batch of cookies, were good so I made another (for church). Got dough partly ready for another, went back out & cleaned storm windows inside & out for those 3 windows & hung them. Put screens away, put car back inside. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Judy called, did dishes. Too tired to finish last batch of cookies, grated rest of zuchini. Read paper, watched TV. Watched VCR. Brushed teeth. To bed at 12:25.

Friday, October 12, 1990: Woke at 5:30, back to sleep. Again at 7:55, got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Dressed, had juice & Shake. Opened Sam’s door, tried to call Linda but no answer. Went out & cleaned sm. bath window & put up storm window, also utility room window. Hands got so cold I had to quit, sprinkled a little. Came in & baked cookies, washed & put up hair. Bake[d] cake for Linda, tried to call her again. Had lunch, soaked my feet. Watered violets all day, put up Halloween decor. Called Nancy, got Mike & he said Nancy took Cindy to Dr. – Has strep throat. Norma called & said we could stay with them, Leona has been sick. Got in mail & paper, got supper. Watched VCR, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Looked at mail, watched VCR again. To bed at 1:10.

LINDA’S BIRTHDAY – 48  Saturday, October 13, 1990: Woke at 6:50, went back to sleep till 7:55. Got up & turned up heat, fed Sam. Opened his door but he didn’t stay out much. Finished watering violets, watered rest of flowers. Planted rooted geraniums, transplanted fern & pink & white dotted plants. Washed pink bedcover & pieces [?] of sheets, dried all. Had Shake & juice for brunch. Iced & decorated cake, wrapped Linda’s present (cookbook). Got out clothes for trip, packed in suitcase. Carla called, also Paula later. Couldn’t make it over. Got in mail, looked at it. Took shower, washed face & brushed teeth. Got ready to go out to dinner, went to J.B.s. Had the buffet, real good. Came home to Nancy’s & had cake & ice cream, Linda liked her present, I think. Hope she gets a lot of good out of it. Played 31, got home about 11. Watched McGyver on VCR. To bed at 12:50.

Sunday, October 14, 1990: Woke about 5:50, fed Sam. Read a little & went back to sleep, woke again at 7:30. Got up about 7:45, washed & dressed. Let Sam out, fixed breakfast & ate. Put cookies & papers in car, finished getting ready. Left about 9:50, parked in back & carried cookies, etc., in; got out trays, spoons, then went upstairs. Cookies went over pretty good, had about 1 ½ doz. left. Linda busy so Nancy & I cleaned up, got home about 12:40. Changed clothes, laid down & watched painting. Took nap, then ^{put away small screen.} got up & unhooked hoses. Set them up so they could drain. Picked some mums, also raspberries. Carla came, we sat & talked. Went out to eat about 4:30, to Perkins. She left when we got home, I emptied dishwasher. Did dishes, got med. ready for trip. Read paper, watched TV. Then watched VCR a while. Brushed teeth, worked on toe again. To bed at 1:10.

Monday, October 15, 1990: Woke about 2:30, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:20, got up & turned up heat. Fed Sam, watched VCR a little. Opened Sam’s door, had juice & Shake for breakfast. Went out & rolled up hoses & brought them in to garage. Opened garage door so Jim Gantz could work on system if I didn’t see him come, came about 2:00. Put up my hair, had lunch. Soaked my foot, looked up discounts on AARP & Discover. Kept an eye on Sam & kept him in the house. Got ready & at 4:00 took him out to Vets, surely is hard to leave him. Made deposit on way home, money Linda gave me. Stopped at Lindas & got some white liniment, left coffee server. Got in mail & paper on way home, called Nancy. Mike mowed my front lawn. Got supper, Judy called. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Soaked foot again, read paper & watched TV. Cleaned out under sink in sm. bath, put stuff away. Finished suitcases, had a hard time getting it closed, had to repack. Washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 1:15. Alarm set for 5:30!

(Saw Dr. & Lil Muench in Airport). Tuesday, October 16, 1990: Woke at 5:15, had alarm set for 5:30 so went ahead & got up. Sure missed Sammy! Dressed, finished getting ready. Closed up suitcases, did some rearranging. Pulled plug on washer, breaker on dryer, water heater & stove. Locked freezer & doors, had O.J. & ½ melon. Stuff all ready to go when L. & T. came about 5 till 7:00. Wind starting to blow, kind of strong by the time we got to Boise. Checked in & soon boarded, left right on time. Really got rough a ways out of Boise, worst I’ve ever seen I think. In to Denver on time & left on time, too; a little early in Peoria. No one there to meet us, by the time our luggage was in Rosie & Marie were there. Saw Rosie’s house, went to Sharon’s Volley Ball Game. Ate at Westgate, then down to Sam & Norm’s. To bed at 12:05.

hair (Betty Lawrence  Mrs. Jack) Wednesday, October 17, 1990: Woke during the night, also at 8:00 ^{(9:00 our time)} & then at 9:00. Got up & dressed, had bkfst. Visited a while, then went down to see Leona’s house. Linda took some pix, came home & had lunch. Went to the hospital about 2:00, saw Leona & she kind of responded to us but hard to tell – did try to talk a little. Also went up to see Ray S. & Maurice N., his wife Ruth was there & also Margery & Billie N. Neither of the cousins look very good. When we got back looked at Sam & Norms 50th anniv. book, it is really nice. Marie called & wants us to come over tomorrow, Phyllis Friday night. Rosie came over & got us about 5:30 & we had supper there, they’re leaving tomorrow for Mo. Got back here about 10:00, Sam & Norm in bed. Sam’s back hurting him. Got ready for bed, brushed teeth. To bed at 11:30.

Diane & Denver came in a.m., asked us to come for brunch Sat. Thursday, October 18, 1990: Woke during the night & had sore throat but went back to sleep. Woke at 8:30 but went right back to sleep till 9:15. Got up then & dressed, made bed. Got ready to go to Maries, Norma took us down. Had breakfast, did dishes. Sat & looked at pictures of Marie’s kids & grandkids. She fixed dinner, Phyllis came and we had lunch. Did dishes, Marie had hair appt. at 3:30 so we drove her down. We went up town & did some shopping, then picked Marie up & drove down to Sams. She went on home & we visited again, ate when Carol & Donny came. Barb & 5 kids came, Kurt, Tammy, & ____, Teresa & Troy. Called & talked to Sammy, had nice visit w/family. After they left we talked w/Sam & Norm. Washed face & brushed teeth. Wrote to Judy. To bed at 1:00.

Friday, October 19, 1990: Woke during night, back to sleep. Woke again at 7:10, went back to sleep till 8:00. Got up, after a while had breakfast. Took shower, dressed. Fixed face & hair, made bed, etc. Went out & visited, read paper & worked X-word. After while had lunch, helped clear up & rinsed dishes. Sat in dining area & visited, worked X-word & read old paper again. Phyllis & Marie came for us about 5:30, went down to Phyllis’ & had a real good supper. So full! Cleared table & did dishes, then sat around kitchen table & visited. Came home around 10:00, realized I had put the key in my zippered bag & left it on the dresser. Door was locked so we went down to Maries a little bit. Called in about 10 min. & Norm was home so came back. Washed face & brushed teeth. To bed at 11:45

Saturday, October 20, 1990: Woke about 5:00, went back to bed & read. Woke up next about 8:45, got up & washed. Got dressed & ready to go, made bed. Had coffee, waited for Donna. When she came we drove out to Diane’s. After a while Barb came, then later Carol, Laurie & Bradley. We ate brunch, was delicious. I loved the egg dish she made, of course I like eggs any way. Carol & Laurie left soon after we ate, (oh, yes, Sue, Will & Jeremiah were there, too), we all sat & visited until about 2:30 & then went back to town. Linda wrote to Megan so we walked up town & mailed her letter, got some of those cards, then stopped at Walton’s & saw Jean a little bit. Stopped at grocery & got some apple, went down to Carol’s at 6:00. Had a very good supper, enjoyed Bradley, ___, Will & Jeremiah. Came home about 9:30, washed, brushed teeth & got ready for bed. Had apple, set alarm, going to church tomorrow. To bed at 11:05.

Sunday, October 21, 1990: Woke during night coughing, throat kind of sore. Went back to sleep, woke w/alarm at 7:30. Dressed, got ready to go to church. Had breakfast, waited for Donny & Carol & they took us to church & saw quite a few people I knew – Della Miess, Dottie, Shari, Martha Roth, Thelma Slagle, Duane & Arlene. Went home after church w/Marie & looked at old pix. Went over to nursing home & saw Luella Sohn, also saw Joe Metz & Marvin Maurer & wife there. Went out to Phyllis’ & saw her boys & wives & the grandkids. very cute. Had birthday supper. Lost the key again! Came home about 10:00, visited a little w/Sam & Norm, then to bed. Washed face & brushed teeth. 11:30. 

Monday, October 22, 1990: Woke about 7:00, had alarm set for about 7:30 so worked X-word for a while. Got up about 7:30, dressed. Finished getting ready, tried to call about hair appt. but just got a recording. Thelma, Kathryn & Marie came & we went up to The Gray Goose and had breakfast, saw Virg Munz. After that went down to Maries & she let us take her car & we came back here. Then wrote letters to Paula, Carla & Nancy; Donna called & asked us to go with her but I had told Marie I’d come back down so Linda went. I took my cards up & got stamps, mailed them. Then down to Maries, went up to D.Q. & got a sandwich. While we were eating Alice & Al walked in. Went down to Hosp., then Marie & I went to Della Meiss’. Alice & Al came back to Marie’s when we got home and we went to McD’s for supper. Picked up Linda at Sam’s & went down to Ralph & Rosies a while. Came home about 10:30, brushed teeth & washed. Got ready for bed. To bed at 12:20.

Tuesday, October 23, 1990: Got up about 8:00, got ready to go to Barbs for brunch. Marie came by & then Linda drove; Barb has a very pretty house & had breakfast pizza, grape fruit, O.J., coffee & rolls – very good! Rosie brought Alice down, too. Left about noon & went down to Maries, then in P.M. went to Pontiac shopping. Just bought a few little things. When we got home sat down & read a little – Alice came & told us Paul was here! Got sleepy & Marie & I slept a little. Went out to Duane’s about 6:00, took Thelma S. w/us. Alice, Al, Paul, Sam & Norma, Marie, Linda & I. Linda tried to call Matt. We came home about 10:00. Have appt. for hair tomorrow at 9:30. To bed at 12:00.

Wednesday, October 24, 1990: Got up about 7:45, dressed & got ready. Had breakfast, Alice, etc. came to get Linda for coffee. At 9:30 I went across the street to Betty Lawrence’s & had my hair washed & set, only $6.00 which I thought was quite reasonable. Linda there when I got back, she’s getting quite a cold & my throat a little raw again too. Sam & Norma went down to see Leona, then we went down to Ralph’s – Norma wanted to see their house. Came back to Sam’s for lunch, Norval Knapps called & wanted to take us all out for supper – Sam, Norma, Alice, Al, Ralph, Rosie, Paul, Marie, Linda, I & Margery & Don. Went down to Wilma’s for dessert & sodas afterwards. Linda called Matt. Home about 10:30, got suitcases ready. Washed, brushed teeth. To bed at 11:45. Leave for Ky. tomorrow.

Thursday, October 25, 1990: Woke several times, then about 5:30 & couldn’t go back to sleep. Turned on light & read until time to get up at 7:30. Slept a little off & on. Got up & made bed, dressed & got ready to go. Had breakfast (ham, bacon, eggs & rolls), then left about 9:30. Got down to Bloomington, found Airport & Car Rental. Got papers signed & found car – white Mercury ___ Wagon ‘91, really a nice little car. Sam’s led the way to R. 74 & we went on, got almost to Louisville by about 5:00 so found a Motel & stopped. Went out & got supper at Hardees, (dinner at McDonalds in Crawfordsville), took shower, etc., & got ready for bed. Worked Globe X-word today.

Friday, October 26, 1990: Woke several times, got up about 7:30. Dressed & got ready to go, packed suitcases again. Stopped at Chevron & got gas, then to McDonalds for breakfast. Back on the road by about 9:45, really is pretty country. Got to Danville & got a room at Danville Terrace Motel, not too nice but a place to sleep anyway. Went up to Matt’s dorm & found his room, he & Eric were both there. He had to go to PE class at 1:00 so we went to Wendy’s for lunch, then back to Dorm & went to Biology class with him. Very interesting. After that went to register, got Matt’s pix, then met him again & came back to room. Matt wanted to go shopping so we drove over to Lexington & found a big Mall. I got him a black turtleneck & Linda pants & shirt. Ate supper at Mall. Got home about 9:30. After a while took Matt to his Dorm, got ready for bed. 12:05.

Saturday, October 27, 1990: Woke during night, back to sleep. Alarm rang at 7:30, got up & dressed. Got ready to go & pick up Matt. Went to cont. breakfast at Dean’s house (Ray Hammond), then Linda met with several of Matt’s instructors. I sat in the car & napped, after that we went thru’ some of the buildings, then to B-B-Q on lawn at their Cafeteria. Saw art exhibit at Art Bldg., went to football game (they won, 24-17?). After the game went to a reception at the Pres. house, it’s really a neat place. From there went down to basement of Matt’s Dorm & met his house advisors, they’re very nice. Had crax, cheese, etc., but I was just too full; could hardly eat all my dinner. Went back to show at the “Bijou,” saw Rear Window. Then went down to “The Pit” and listened to “The Raggedy Robin Band.” Decided it was time to go home so went back to Motel, took shower & went to bed. Set clocks back tonight. 10:40 EST.

Sunday, October 28, 1990: Woke several times in the night but went back to sleep. Woke this morning about 25 to 7, didn’t get up till about 7:30. Dressed, got ready to go to church. Packed up our stuff & turned in keys, went to McDonalds for breakfast. Finally Linda called the church & found out where it was, had driven around a little first but couldn’t find Hill ‘N Dale St. Picked up Matt & went to church, then went to Chicken place & had dinner. Went to K-Mart & got some stuff for Matt, then took him to his dorm & then we left. Made good time up to Alice’s, got here just at dark. Had chili & veggies for supper, also pie. Looked at pix after we ate, to bed at 12:10.

Monday, October 29, 1990: Got up about 7:30, washed & brushed teeth. Got dressed, made bed. Fixed my face, packed suitcases. Talked to Linda & she got up. Alice fixed breakfast, we got ready to go. Looked at their new van & trailer, surely are nice. Left their place about 11:30, got to Monon about 12:30. Asked at a service station & found the Sr. Cit. Home, asked a lady there & she told us where Aunt Esther was. Went to her door & knocked, told her who I was & she knew me right away. Had a nice visit with her, Elna K. called & when Aunt Esther told her we were there she came over. Nice to see her too. Came on home then, had sandwich at Watseka. Got to Fairbury about 4:00, went to Carols for supper. Marie & Kenny came, Donna called so we went down to R&Rs a while. Came home & worked on suitcases. To bed at 1:00.

Tuesday, October 30, 1990: Woke several times & got up, finally woke about 6:30 & got up. Washed a little, dressed & got ready. Finished suitcases, had breakfast. Talked a little, Rosie came to tell us good-bye. Put in suitcases & drove down to Leonas, went in & got some little things for remembrances. Had to cry a little. Sams led the way & we went down to Bloomington, stopped & filled up w/gas. Drove to Airport & dropped off car, then to Peoria. Drove up to Eureka & saw Aunt Katie, just as sharp as ever – she’s great. Went on down then, checked luggage. Had pie, coffee, etc., then was time to go. Had a good flight, lunch & dinner. Went from Peoria to Moline, to Denver & home. Were early getting home. Nancy, Cindy, Ted & Meg met us. I messed around, opened mail etc. Furnace won’t start. 12:00.

Wednesday, October 31, 1990: Woke several times, woke w/alarm at 8:00. Got up, had breakfast. Washed & dressed, paid some bills. Talked to Linda, got ready to go downtown. Cloudy when I woke up, rained off & on all day. Went to P.W. Drug, got groc. at Pauls. Got milk at Alb., then picked up Sam at Hosp. He talked to me all the way home, then stuck like a burr when I got home. Unloaded & put away groc., Helen F. came & stayed a while. Made chili, then Ted came. Finally found a burned out fuse, also brought fireplace heater & put it back in. Put a new motor in it. Finally got all groc. put away, kids started coming at 5 o’clock. Could hardly get any supper. Last ones came about 9:00. Finished supper, did dishes. Planted impatiens, got Globe X-word worked. Watched VCR a while, to bed at 12:30.

Monday, June 1, 1987: Woke at 5:00, got up & watched VCR until 8:00. Dressed, had toast & medicine. Paul came. I went for my walk. Helped take down the big awning when I got back, also went out in back & cut some more old iris blossoms, picked strawberries. Had breakfast, did dishes. Read some old papers, put hose on maple trees in front. Washed big load of colored rayons & polyesters, dried part. Cleared off table, got supper – had pork & sauerkraut & Paul ate with me. After he left I did dishes, ran dishwasher. Watched TV & read papers. Washed & brushed teeth. Watered & fertilized all flowers today. To bed at 1:15. 

Tuesday, June 2, 1987: Woke about 4:00, back to sleep until 6:30. Got up & watched VCR, then had toast & medicine. Dressed, went for my walk. Paul worked all day today, got the front all done up to the gable & started on the N. side. Think he may finish that tomorrow. Put away part of clothes in dryer, dried rest of load & hung up nylons. Had breakfast, emptied dishwasher. Asked Nancy & kids for supper, made the hamburger-noodle casserole. Fixed that & green beans for supper in afternoon. Everybody left right after supper, I did dishes. Defrosted old frig., filled ice trays. Went in & watched VCR again, Judy called. Feet hurt so soaked them for about an hour, watched TV & read paper. To bed at 11:45.

Wednesday, June 3, 1987: Woke about 4:00, back to sleep until 8:00. Got up & watched VCR, then dressed & had toast & took medicine. Went for my walk, Paul didn’t come to work today. Nancy & I went over to check on him. Lady next door unlocked door for us & he wasn’t there so figured he was OK. Called Nancy later & said he was figuring a job. Watered strawberry bed & tree in back, dug out some more quack grass. Came in & had breakfast, then back out & wire brushed downspouts. Spray painted until I ran out of paint, didn’t go very far. Went in & read old papers, put load of white clothes to soak. Had lunch, worked on papers some more. Got ready to go to choir practise, had supper. Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Left about 7:20 & got home about 8:40. Ralph called, wants Paul to go fishing tomorrow. I called Paula about planters. Read paper, watched TV. Washed load of clothes. To bed at 12:00.

Thursday, June 4, 1987: Woke about 4:45, read & dozed a while. Got up & watched VCR, washed & dressed. Got groc. list ready, dried part of white clothes. Had breakfast & took medicine, finished getting ready. Left about 11:00, went to P.W. Drug (paid bills & got Lactaid tabs), took cans to M & W parking lot (got $2.41 for them), got paint at Coast to Coast, new pants & blouse at 88¢ store, milk at Farmer Jacks, Pauls for few groc., got gas, then home. Put away groc., took little nap (Nancy woke me). Watched Wheel of Fortune & Scrabble on VCR, napped a little more. Got supper, just finishing when doorbell rang & was Carol Jo, Donnie, Annette & two boys. What a surprise! Called Linda but she had already gone to eat with Nancy. They soon came back, so we visited the rest of the evening. All left about 10:00. I read paper & watched TV, dried rest of clothes. (Worked Globe X-word). Had windstorm tonite. To bed at 12:40.

Friday, June 5, 1987: Woke about 4:30, really bad thunderstorm going on. Tried to go back to sleep but about 4:40 there was a terrible crack of thunder & lightning right together. I saw a huge blue fireball right thru my eyelids. Got up & checked all around the house, etc., but no damage. Lights all out except little emergency light in kitchen, sure is handy little light. Went back to bed w/flashlight & worked X-words, may have dozed a little. Got up about 6:00 & reset all clocks, power back on. Watched VCR till 8:00, dressed & had medicine. Went for my walk, saw Linda, Nancy & Marty. When I got home went out & picked berries, few raspberries ripe too. Cut off some more iris stems, hung up bird waterer. Straightened up patio, had breakfast. Gave Paul some cold water, made tea for him. Emptied dishwasher, went out & spray painted downspouts. Had lunch, did dishes. Looked at mail, started getting stuff ready for supper, Paul ate w/me tonite. Linda, Meg, Nancy, Mike & Cindy came over tonite & watched “Perry.” I did dishes & watched TV. Then read paper. To bed at 11:50.

Saturday, June 6, 1987: Woke about 3:30, back to sleep. Again about 5:30, got up at 6:00 & watched Perry Mason on VCR. At 8:00 dressed, had toast & medicine. Went for my walk, saw Ted & Marty. When I got back, spray painted down spouts, then cut off old peony blossoms, came in & had breakfast, got more clothes ready for trip. Potted little arbor vitae for Bill from front, Paula called – has a sore back so not doing anything this weekend. Helped Paul pull rose back so he could do S. side of garage. Has lower siding almost all done now, red is almost gone. Fixed Paul’s lunch & made fresh iced tea, called Judy. Got in mail, got sleepy so put head down & slept a little. Laid down in family room & slept about another ½ hr. Fixed strawberries & got supper for Paul & I. Emptied dish washer & did dishes. Looked at old papers. To bed at 12:00.

Sunday, June 7, 1987: Woke early, back to sleep until 7:00. Got up & watched Hee Haw until 8:00, then had breakfast. Washed & dressed, got ready to go to church. Confirmation today & choir sang, started to rain about 9:00 & showered off & on all day. Stopped at Coast to Coast & Kings on way home, got house numbers & some more bark for front of house. Got home about 1:30. Sat down to watch painting on TV & worked X-word, Cindy came over & I helped her with counted cross-stitch embroidery. She’s real good at it. Carla called, got here about 4:00. We just had leftovers for supper, maybe I’ll get them pretty well used up before I go after all. She left about 6:30. I did dishes, ran dishwasher. Looked at papers & watched TV. Watered flowers checked & wired all window screens. To bed at 12:10.

Monday, June 8, 1987: Woke several times early but went back to sleep. Got up about 7:00 & watched VCR till 8:00, dressed – then started packing suitcases. Went out & cut up rose clippings, moved planter from tree stump. Planted rest of snapdragons, also tiny rose on Sam’s grave. Two little kittens in cemetery followed Linda home this morning, Martin loves them. Cindy & a friend found a home for one of them & maybe the other one, also. Fixed Paul a sandwich for lunch, got ready & went down to beauty shop. Hair looks really nice, hope it stays well. Washed couple loads of clothes, also dried them. Had supper, read paper & watched TV. Took milk, etc., down to Nancys, finished packing. Unplugged TVs, stove, washer, dryer, got washed. To bed at 11:50.

Tuesday, June 9, 1987: Got up at 5:00, dressed. Made bed, Had O.J. & a banana, finished getting ready to go. Finished up, closed & locked suitcases. Paula called just as Nancy came, still having back problems. Got to Boise OK, plane about 30 min. late taking off. Came in at gate 14 & left from gate 12 in Denver, cloudy so never could see very much. Plane from Boise – Denver packed; from Denver to Chi only about ¼ full. Had some kind of trouble when we got to Midway so had to go back up & over Lake, OK when we came back around but was kind of scary. Cool in Chicago. Went to Leonas for supper. Sam & Norma there, too, & also Alice & Al; Marie came later. Staying at Ralph & Rosies tonite, unpacked & hung up clothes. Now 11:30 C.D.T.

Wednesday, June 10, 1987: Woke during night, couldn’t go back to sleep for a while. Finally woke about 8:00, got up & dressed. Went for our walk & probably walked a little more than 2 miles. When I got home, washed & changed, got ready to go to Maries. Had breakfast there about 10:30, was so good. Wouldn’t let us help with dishes even, looked at pix & sat & talked. Showed Ted around the complex, back down to Leonas for early supper at 3:00. Was very good, too, know I’m eating too much! Did dishes, then sat & visited. Leona got ready & went to church, Linda & Ted & kids walked up town & did some shopping. When they got home we were sitting in kitchen when Alice & I started to shake, dishes rattled, etc., & we had an earthquake! Could hardly believe it. Centered at Lawrenceville where Rosie used to live, 5.0 on scale but guess no one hurt. Went down to Ralph & Rosies for a while. I came back w/Alice & Al to Leonas to stay all night. To bed at 12:30.

Thursday, June 11, 1987: Roy & Phyllis Anniv. Woke shortly after daylight, had to go downstairs. Went right back to sleep. Woke again about what I tho’t was 8:00 but was really 7:00, dozed a little more & then got up about 8:30. Had toast & pills, Alice got up & we went for our walk up to Maries & got my sweater. We visited a little, then walked back. Had breakfast, did dishes. Started letter to Judy. First tho’, took bath, washed face, brushed teeth, also hair, put on clean clothes. Kids came down & we had light lunch, then went uptown to shop. Got gift for Ralph, gift for Tammy & Kurt’s baby, skirt for me. Went down to Sam & Normas for supper, had B-B-Qed pork chops & all so very good. Most of their kids came after supper, also Donna & Clyde. Stayed until kind of late. Back to Leonas. To bed at 12:30.

Friday, June 12, 1987:  Woke after daylight – about 7:00 – back to sleep till about 8:30. Dressed, had breakfast. Went up to nursing home to visit Elsie (Broquard) Denick, also Luella Sohn, Allene Broquard & Walter Raupps. Came home about noon. Washed face & brushed teeth, got fixed up. Had a little lunch, Marie came & we went up town. Got card for Paula & Jim, also gift for Judy & Cindy. [Finished letter to Judy] Really getting hot. When we got home I took little nap in chair in dining room. Went down to Ralphs about 5:45. Had a good dinner there. Duane & Arlene came, Marie, Margie, Martin & kids, Clyde & Donna, Kathy, Tom & children. Home & to bed about 12:30. Sleeping in Leonas bed tonight – really hot upstairs.

Saturday, June 13, 1987: Woke about 7:30, got up & Alice & I went for our walk. Pretty hot! Saw Karen & her family. Had breakfast, did dishes. Washed & changed clothes, talked to Linda. Marie came & wanted to go to Bloomington so went in the afternoon. Had a little lunch, Linda & kids went with us. Got something for Nancy & Mike. Finally went down to Rosie & Ralphs when we got back. Had pizza, etc., bad fire down there tonight. Al & Ted went to Chicago to get Carla & Bill, they got home about 7:00. Meg & Matt came with us to Aunt Leonas tonight & Meg & I are sleeping upstairs w/the fan going. Not bad at all. To bed about 11:30.

Sunday, June 14, 1987: Woke about 6:30, dozed a little. Got up about 7:15, dressed. Woke Meg about 7:30, then Matt soon after. All had breakfast & got ready to go to Chicago, left about 9:00. Got up there about 11:00, parked & had lunch. Went to Museum first (Field Museum), so many things to see would take months to see it all & read all about everything. Surely was interesting. Then to Shedd Aquarium – never saw so many different kinds of fish! From there to Planetarium, watched Sky Show & then went up & saw Intruders from Space. Enjoyed it all but was really hot! Left for home about 5:30, stopped at McDonalds near Dwight & ate. Sat around at Rosies then & kids, Linda & Carla played games. Came back to Leonas about 10:30, hot upstairs again so I’m sleeping on the couch. Leona has headache, hope it’s better by A.M. Had some tapioca pudding before we went to bed. Bed at 11:30.

Monday, June 15, 1987: Woke at 6:30, back to sleep until 8:00. Got up & dressed, folded up bedding & carried upstairs. Had breakfast, dried dishes. Rode down to Rosies with Alice & Al, Linda & Ted gone for their walk & rest still asleep. Alice & Al left about 11:00, Linda & Ted got back shortly before that. Everybody took shower & got ready to go to Chicago, had some lunch. Sam & Norma took them up, Rosie came just after they left. We had some lunch, then she went back to work. Carla & Bill walked up town. I took a shower, then laid down & read Reader’s Digest, fell asleep & slept until about 5:30. Carla & Bill came home, then Rosie & she fixed some supper. Linda & kids came about time we finished, had had supper. We did dishes, Linda H., Becky & Katie came down. Rosie brought me back to Leonas, had pudding & cake. To bed at 11:15.

Tuesday, June 16, 1987: Woke early in A.M., back to sleep until 6:30. Went back to sleep, but woke several times, finally got up & thought it was 7:15 but was 8:15, decided it was too hot to walk. Leona & I had breakfast, did dishes. Washed & brushed teeth, made bed. Got rest of stuff down from upstairs, really pretty cool up there. Leona’s headache gone but ears ringing & still not feeling very well, I think. Insisted on getting dinner but just had sandwiches & pizza, etc. Did dishes, Bill washed. When we finished Rosie came & got us & we went down & saw the shop, quite a place! After that Rosie, Linda & kids went up town; Carla, Bill & I stayed at Rosies & I changed clothes & got ready to go to Wilmas. Had a good supper there & Maurice (Ruth) & his wife & Margery & her husband came (Donald). Had a nice visit. Came home about 9:45. To bed at 10:45.

Wednesday, June 17, 1987: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep until 8:00. Got up & dressed, had breakfast. Made bed, washed & brushed teeth. Went out & helped Leona pick gooseberries. Carla & Bill came so we had lunch, did dishes. They went up to shop so I helped Leona stem berries until time to go up to the Museum at 2:00, walked up & went in. They came soon after, was an interesting little place & Bill bought a book. I want to read it when they get done with it. We walked home past the Claudon house & Sam & Normas, Rosie came for me & at 4:30 we went up to Linda Van Winkles & had my hair done. Went back to Rosies & changed clothes, then to Phyllis’ for supper. Was a really good supper. Came home with Leona again & we talked a while about Daddy. To bed at 11:50. Going to Arthur tomorrow – get up at 7:30.

Thursday, June 18, 1987: Woke early, back to sleep until 6:30. Dozed a little, finally got up about 7:15. Dressed, made bed. Leona fixed breakfast & we ate, did dishes. Came in & got washed, brushed teeth. Dressed again & got ready to go, worked X-words until they came. Went down & got Sam & Norma, left about 9:30. Got to Rockome Gardens about 11:00, went in & ate first. Was really hot! Food served family style & was real good. Then went thru gardens (flowers), Carla not feeling too well. Saw dancing chicken & piano playing duck, waterfall. Candy store & bakery, blacksmith shop, craft shop, rug weaving, jail, stable & horses, wood working shop, Three Bears House, Tree House, saw Rock barn but didn’t go in. Stopped & got a cold drink, then went to gift shop. Left for home, got here about 5:30. Changed shoes & sponged face a little, powdered, etc. Read a little while & rested, then went to Aunt Maries for supper – such a good supper again. Bill & girls did dishes, then we visited. Got home around 10:00. To bed at 12:00.

Friday, June 19, 1987: Woke while still dark, back to sleep until 7:30. Dozed until 8:15, got up & dressed. Made bed, had breakfast. Helped stem gooseberries, washed & dried dishes. Donna & Linda came & asked me to go with them, decided to stay & help Leona. Washed & brushed teeth, helped a little w/pies, meat, etc. Rained this morning, was a nice easy gentle rain – little thunder & no lightning. Had lunch, more dishes. Finally sat down on couch & read a little, got sleepy so took a nap. Woke at 4:00, fixed my face & hair. About 5:45, left for Strawn, 3rd car there. Lots of family there – got to see Kay, Cheri & family, Dottie, Kurt, Tammy & baby. And so much good food! Came home about 9:30, Bill drove. Took pills & cleaned up dishes a little, to bed at 11:40. Went to sleep reading & Leona turned out the light.

Saturday, June 20, 1987: Woke about daylight, Back to sleep until 8:15. Got up about 8:30, made bed. Dressed, went out & had breakfast. Leona baking pies so I took a bath, washed face & brushed teeth. Dressed again, fixed my face. Went back out & helped finish dishes. Rained really hard for a while this morning. Bill & Carla came down with Rosie’s car & we had lunch, then did dishes again. Leona said she’d take me up town so got ready, we went down & picked up Marie, too. Never did find the timer I wanted but found a Sunbeam Quartz one so got it for Leona, may be better for her than the West Bend one. Really hot & steamy this afternoon after the sun came out. Went back to Leonas & visited a while, then she took me & some of my things down to Rosies. Rosie not feeling very well;… she finally went down to the hospital & saw a Dr. & got some medicine. Had supper there; Marie, Leona, Clyde & Donna came for the evening. Visited a while, started to lightning so came on home. To bed at 11:55.

Sunday, June 21, 1987: Woke at 7:00, got up about 7:15. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Did dishes, made bed. Got ready to go down to R&R’s. Went w/Leona when she went to church. Took clothes, etc., along so guess I don’t have anything left down there. Carla & Bill got their things ready & we left for Chicago about 11:00. Car acted up a little on way up so made Carla kind of nervous but got there in plenty of time. After they got checked in stopped & got hot dogs & drinks, their plane a little late leaving. Hope they made their connection in Salt Lake. We stopped at McDonalds again on way home, rained on us around Forrest. Went out to Westgate for supper, paid for R&Rs. Packed when we got home, Clyde & Donna came & also Leona. To bed at 12:45, Sat up & talked a while w/Linda & Rosie.

Monday, June 22, 1987: Home  Woke before daylight, back to sleep. Slept till 7:30, got up about 8:15. Had toast, coffee & juice. Marie called, also Leona, coming over before we leave. Washed & dressed, finished pack. Finished getting ready, had lunch. Marie & Leona came, also Sams. Put in suitcases & left about 12:30, so hard to say goodbye. Got to Chicago OK. & checked luggage, soon time to board. Kind of late leaving, pretty good trip but an annoying kicker in back of me. Nearly drove me crazy kicking my seat all the way to Denver. Left there a little late, too, but into Boise on time. Really rough flight out of Denver. Cool here tonite. Ted, Paul, Mike & Cindy came to meet us, guess Ted was 2 hrs. late getting in last week. So good to get home, house siding all finished. Looked at mail, opened up windows. Watched TV a little, called Carla, Judy & Paula. To bed at 1:20.

Tuesday, June 23, 1987: Woke early, dozed until 7:45. Got up & dressed, had toast & medicine. Got dirty clothes out of suitcase, looked for brown stool but can’t find it. Went for my walk, met Linda & Martin; also had company on my walk – the farmer’s dog. Moved big planter back out to stump when I got back, cut off rest of blooms & longer stems from peonies. Broke off snapdragon seeds, put out garbage. Had breakfast, went out & picked raspberries. Picked up leaves & twigs in raspberry bed, discovered apricot tree blew over. Nancy & Cindy came over so I quit – will probably pick rest tomorrow. Came in & Helen Frailey came, read yesterday’s paper. Had lunch, watered flowers. Have a few in family room to do yet, lot of Afr. violets dying. Got supper, did dishes. Got my milk & cream from Nancys. Read paper, watched TV. Told Ruben Esquivel to go ahead w/painting. Had some berries tonite, to bed at 12:00.

Wednesday, June 24, 1987: Woke about 5:50, tried to go back to sleep. May have dozed a little, finally got up & watched VCR. Dressed, had toast & medicine. Went for my walk, saw Linda, Nancy & Martin. Put water on N. tree when I got home, washed & changed clothes & got ready to go downtown. Insurance men finally came at 11:00, gone by 11:20 so then I finished my breakfast. Finished getting my stuff ready for town, left about 1:00. Ruben Estivel came & started working before I left; left garage open. Went to M & W, C to C, 88¢ store, Bank & Pauls for groc., home about 3:30. Put away groc., watched TV. Took short nap, after painter left I washed off freezer, put away paint & el. boxes. Swept out garage & put car away. Got supper, did dishes & ran dishwasher. Judy called & also Carla, I called Rosie to see how she was doing. Watched VCR & read paper, washed & put away berries. To bed at 12:00.

Thursday, June 25, 1987: Woke at 6:00, got up & watched VCR a while. Dressed, had toast & medicine. Put water on corner shrub, went for my walk. Pulled some sunflowers when I got home, opened up garage & went out & picked berries by back fence. Came in & had breakfast, went back out & finished berries. Cindy came over to stay with me while Nancy went to a meeting, she plays so cute all by herself. Had to leave about 2:30. I paid some bills, vacuumed kitchen floor. Fixed Cindy some lunch, had mine about 4:00. Worked Statesman X-word & soaked my feet, they’re very sore today. Went out & trimmed roses, also lilac some. Had supper, did dishes. Read paper & watched TV, also watched VCR some. Washed part of raspberries, called Linda & Carla tonite. To bed at 11:30.

Friday, June 26, 1987: Woke at 6:30, watched VCR a while. Dressed, had toast & medicine. Started for my walk, worked on S. flower bed a little while. Worked on it again when I got home, pulled out a lot of sunflowers. Went out in back & watered strawberries, raspberries & under big shrub , also tree. Picked raspberries. Came in & had breakfast. Cindy came over for a while, I washed & brushed teeth, washed & put up hair. Made salad for supper, had lunch. Read paper & dozed a little. Went out at 4:30 & picked rest of berries. Got ready to go out to the lake, picked up Paul. When we came back, Linda & Megan came with me, took Meg to her slumber party. Got Linda’s berries, took her home. When I got home, watched TV & VCR, read paper. To bed at 11:30.

Saturday, June 27, 1987: Woke during night, back to sleep. Woke again about 4:30, back to sleep again until 7:00. Got up & watched VCR a little while, dressed & had toast & medicine. Went for my walk, put water on S. flower bed before I left. Snapdragons & gladiolas are so pretty. Rested a while on return, read TV (IP-T) Guide. Washed load of good col. clothes, did dishes. Dried clothes & washed another load, went down & mended several things. Water leaked in basement again, checked air conditioner & it’s not icing up like last year. Had breakfast about 11:00, lunch around 3:00. Really hot this afternoon, cloudy this morning. Dried other load of clothes, put all on hangers, etc., & put away. Got in & looked at mail, put turkey drums on to cook for supper. Started to clean off dining room table. Had supper, did dishes. Washed more berries. Watched TV, also VCR. Took shower. To bed at 12:30.

Sunday, June 28, 1987: Woke during night, back to sleep until 6:30. Read & dozed a little, got up at 8:00. Had breakfast, then got ready to go to church. Cloudy in A.M. but cleared off in P.M. & got hot again. When church was over stopped at Farmer Jacks & got milk & Borateem, drove around cemetery w/car & checked mileage. Just 2 miles the way I walked Saturday. Changed my clothes & watched painting programs on Ch. 4, worked Statesman X-word, got a headache so took some Sine-Aid for it. Took quite a while for it to help. And then I felt kind of weak & shaky. Nancy came over for bean recipe & asked me to go out to lake with them but was glad I decided not to go. Finished puzzle, then got supper. Had turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn on cob, lettuce & tomato salad & raspberries for dessert. After Carla left, I did dishes & ran dishwasher, then read paper, etc., watched TV. Washed berries. To bed at 12:00.

Monday, June 29, 1987: Woke up about 4:45, back to sleep until 6:30. Read & worked X-word until 7:35, dressed & had toast & medicine. Went for my walk, cloudy & sprinkled a little. Saw Linda & Marty. Worked on flower bed a little, watered front lawn & N. tree. Paul here, trimmed storm windows & screens. I picked berries by back fence, still quite a few. Put away clothes, washed load of rugs, etc., Cleaned utility, vacuumed floor in E. end of dining room. Wrote card to Green Scape about bill bugs. Washed out combs & brushes, went through some old papers. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Looked at mail, lots of junk. Started cleaning off dining room table but didn’t get much done. Judy called tonight & I called Mabel. Mike mowed the yard tonight. Washed & put away raspberries. To bed at 12:20.

Tuesday, June 30, 1987: Woke about 4:30, back to sleep until 6:00. Read & worked X-words, got up about 7:20. Dressed, unlocked doors & opened garage. Had toast & medicine, then went for my walk. When I got back picked raspberries, came in & took shower. Changed clothes & got ready to go to Dr., had breakfast. Made iced tea for Paul & Ruben, looked at some old papers. Started to get headache so took Sine-Aid & laid down a while, got up to talk to Ruben about windows. Had lunch, finished getting ready. Got there right at 3:30 but appt. was at 3:00. Everything O.K., asked about headaches & also about hoarseness. Got me an appt. to see another Dr. next Wed. about that. Stopped at Paul’s Mkt. on way home for few groc., home about 4:30. Put away groc., watched VCR a while. Got supper, went to see Cindy’s ball game. That little squirt is surely a good player – really got a kick out of her. Watched TV & VCR when I got home, Read paper. To bed at 12:00.

Sunday, September 1, 1985: Put chairs, etc., in car. Woke at 6:00, back to sleep. Got up at 8:15, took care of Goldie. Made beds, had breakfast. Dried rest of clothes, put white clothes to soak. Cooked macaroni, made salad. Took shower, dressed. Made tossed salad, butterfly came out of chrysallis so called Nancy & they came & took it home – was a girl. Got ready & went down & got Judy then over to Carlas. The rest came about 4:30. Had a delicious supper, Carla’s ham was so good. After we ate Paula cut my hair. Left for home about 8:30, Paul here when I got home. Unloaded car, washed clothes out of rinse water, then washed them. Put away stuff, read paper & watched TV. To bed at 11:30.

Monday, September 2, 1985: Cindy can brush Sam if she’ll let her. Give her a little of her Hairball remedy occasionally – not more than an inch in a week. If any mail comes that looks important open it. Woke about 4:00, back to sleep. Woke again, around 6:00 – raining – back to sleep after reading a little. Up at 8:15, took care of Goldie, turned off light & opened garage. Washed & put up hair, dressed. Cindy came over, had breakfast with me. Finished drying clothes in washer, turned off faucets & unplugged washer, threw switches on dryer. Changed cat litter box. Made beds. Wrote paper boy & pd. Reader’s Digest bill. Had lunch, finished packing suitcases. Judy called & I called tonight. Did dishes, watered all flowers. Got ready to go out for supper, left about 6:30. Were going to “Grandma’s” but was closed so went to Sizzler. Had Malibu Chicken & was real good. Took out garbage, read paper. Ran dishwasher, watched TV. Washed & brushed teeth. To bed at 11:35.

Tuesday, September 3, 1985: What a day! Didn’t get to sleep until 1:00, then woke at 4:50. Didn’t go back to sleep, got up at 5:30. Took care of Goldie, got ready to go. Made beds, had O.J. Left a little before 7:00, took brownies & cukes to Lindas. Got to Boise O.K. at 7:40, checked our bags. About that time Paula & Jim came. Were a little late leaving Boise because of congestion over Denver. Circled Denver for a while then headed for Casper, Wyo. to refuel. Sat there for quite a while. Finally flew back to Denver but our flight was gone. Had to take us by van to Conc. D where we took a TWA 1st class flight to St. Louis, then Ozark to Peoria. Got in at 4:58, Rosie & Alice there to meet us. Then our luggage didn’t come in so we left for Fairbury. Had supper at Leonas & Marie, Alice & Al, Ralph & Rosie were there. Sam & Norma & Barbie came later. Visited, then went home about 10:00. Sat & talked till about 1:00. Am very tired.

Wednesday, September 4, 1985: Woke about 6:00, back to sleep till 9:30. Had coffee, later on had cereal. Washed & dressed. Got ready & went to Peoria, our luggage was all there. Also got my mileage-plus straightened out. Got home about 4:30. Went down to Leonas and found Clyde  had been there and we missed him. When we got back to Ralphs, Marilyn & Tony were parked in front of Ralphs sleeping in their car. Sat around & talked, to bed at 12:30.

Thursday, September 5, 1985: Roy, Phyllis, Edgar & Helen came down & were here until about noon. Went up town in PM. & got gift for Laurie. To Leonas for supper. To bed at 11:30. (up at 8:30 FRI.)

Friday, September 6, 1985: Went to Maries for lunch, stayed all afternoon. Stopped at Sam & Norms to see their new home – is really pretty. Rosies for supper (pizza) with her family, Alice, Al & Leona.

Saturday, September 7, 1985: Took shower, washed & put up my hair. Dried them, went to Normas for dinner. Came home & got ready to go to the wedding. It was a very pretty wedding. Had a buffet dinner. Went to the wedding dance about 9:00. Sat with Jean & Hap, had a few drinks. Went over to Cheri’s after the wedding to see her house. They’ve added on more bedrooms – have about 8 I think.

Sunday, September 8, 1985: Woke at 7:30, finally went back to sleep till 8:40. Got up about 9:15, made bed. Had breakfast, washed & dressed. Sat around & talked, worked some on Cindy’s picture. Went to Strawn at 5:00. Had a great dinner but a terrible storm. Thunder, lightning, wind, hail, rain. Came home about 9:00. Duanes, Marie, Alice & Al, Leona, Lisa, Matt & Jason came in a while. To bed at 12:00.

Monday, September 9, 1985: Left for reunion about 9:30. Wanted to get potato salad, etc., at Pam Nussbaums but didn’t have any made. Got to Sandy’s house about 11:45. Lots of people already there. All cousins except 3 – Gladys, Lester E. Woodworth, & Vernon Hunkler. Had a beautiful dinner and a beautiful day. Went to Opals over night, Peg & Fred, Paula, Linda & I. Roy & Phyllis slept out at their place in the M.H. and Marilyn & Terry in their truck.

Tuesday, September 10, 1985: Called Ann & she & Sam came for a while. Edgar & Helen came, too. Left after lunch and went to Eureka to see Aunt Katie. She is 91 and such a sprightly little person. Doesn’t see very well & has a hearing aid but is so sharp. Bought Marilyn & Terry’s supper on the way home.

Wednesday, September 11, 1985: Went to Roanoke & saw Uncle George – looks real good but thin and disoriented. Didn’t stay long. Drove to Washington & finally were able to find Grandma & Grandpa Hunkler’s graves. Came back to Eureka & went to Aunt Katie’s. She called Lorene & after a while she and her husband came & we went to dinner at the Chanticleer restaurant. Had a good dinner (chicken), then went back to Lorene’s house which used to be Aunt Katie and Uncle Johns. Visited for quite a while. Got back to Fairbury about 10:30.

Thursday, September 12, 1985: Got dressed, Kay picked up Marie & Leona, then Linda & I. Went to Westgate. Jean & Karen soon came & we had lunch. Had small chef’s salad & it was good. Marilyn & Terry went to Champaign, etc. After lunch we took Leona home. I stayed at Maries & Linda went to Kays. She came to Maries later & Leona picked us up and we went to Wilma Knapps. Margery was there, too. Had a good supper. Aldine came. Friday, September 13, 1985: Marilyn & Terry took us up to Walton’s. Linda got several things & I got a chain for Rosie’s birthday & a T-shirt blouse. Walked back to Leonas and then went down to Phyllis’ for lunch. Marie & Arlene there, too. Went back to Rosies and gave her her gift; Marilyn & Terry decided to leave tonight and will take turns driving – sleep some time tomorrow and drive on again until they get home. Went down to Carol’s for supper. Sam & Norm brought me back to Rosie’s & got my things, then to Leonas all night.

Saturday, September 14, 1985: Had breakfast, washed & dressed. Embroidered a little. Had lunch – Kathy & children came so ate lunch with us. Donna & Linda came at 1:00 so we went to Champaign. Went to a garden & craft store, K-Mart, a big Mall, then back to Donna & Clydes. Had a light supper, then she brought us home about 9:00. Had a nice day. Got our things for church at Rosies. Had a “little lunch”, took a bath, then bed.

Sunday, September 15, 1985: Got up at 7:30, had breakfast. Linda went to church with Marie & I went to church with Leona. Saw quite a few people I knew and met several of the Slagels, also Dale Nussbaum, Wilma’s son & wife. Leona made spaghetti & Sams were here for supper, too. Linda went with Marie, Kevin and his wife & Amber for supper, then came here afterwards. Clyde & Donna came in the evening, also Donna and children, Kurt & Tammy, Carol & Donny, Barb & children, Annette & Troy?, and Jackie H. & her friend. To bed about 11:30.  ‘85?  85

Monday, September 16, 1985: Woke about 6:20, back to sleep until 8:00. Got up & had breakfast; Leona had some of Clyde’s sausage – was very good. Washed & dressed, went to Diane’s for lunch. Leona forgot Marie and we had to go back and get her – she felt so bad. Had a good lunch. When we got back in town, stopped at cemetery and took pictures of Grandma & Grandpa Hoffmann’s graves, also Martha Ifft, Nussbaums, Herman, and a number of others. Went back to Leona’s & Rosie came & got us. Linda & I packed suitcases partly, then went to Pontiac for supper. When we got back Marlene & Leona were there. Talked with Rosie until late, then packed some more. About 2:00 when I went to bed, kind of lost track of time.

Tuesday, September 17, 1985: Set clocks when we got home but not striking right. Woke about daybreak, back to sleep until about 8:00. Washed & dressed, went to Arlenes for brunch. Lisa, Rhonda, Marie & Leona too. Was very good. Afterwards Leona took us to cemetery & we took more pix – Grandpa Slagel, Joseph Slagel, Anna Schwing, etc. Back to Rosies & finished suitcases. Left for Peoria about 1:30, Eleanor went along too. Got there O.K. & in plenty of time. Raining a little. Plane left on time & had a good trip. Didn’t see Marilyn at Airport in Denver. Little late getting in to Boise. Ted & kids were there, also Carla. Kind of cool here. Home about 11:30. Carla told me they had Goldie put to sleep, felt so bad. Watered some flowers, looked at mail, unpacked a little, turned off irr. water, got in milk, etc. To bed at 2:00. Pretty tired.

Wednesday, September 18, 1985: Woke about 6:30, back to sleep until 8:10. Read papers, etc., got up at 9:00. Dressed, had breakfast. Talked to Nancy a little. Looked at more mail, read more papers. Emptied small suitcases. Watered part of flowers. Had lunch, laid down and slept a while. Finished unpacking suit cases, hung up clean clothes & put away stuff. Nancy & kids over and got their gifts. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Paid bills & got checks ready for deposit. To bed at 11:30.

Thursday, September 19, 1985: Woke early, back to sleep till 7:00. Dozed until 8:00, read papers, etc., until 9:00. Got up, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, got ready to go downtown. Nancy came over a little, left for town about noon. Got groc., went to bank, paid water bill, tel. bill. Ate at Red Steer, then took film discs to K-Mart. Went to Madison’s & got a VCR; salesman came back with me & hooked it up. Just hope I can figure out how to use it. Put away groceries, fixed salad for supper. Rinsed dishes, read paper. Watched TV, Nancy & kids came over so they could take baths. To bed at 11:00.

Friday, September 20, 1985: Woke several times, dozed from about 7:00 on. Got up at 8:15, dressed. Made bed, washed pink rug Sam threw up on. Talked to Linda several times & Nancy came over. Had breakfast, stripped blue bed. Washed all bedding, washed load of work clothes. Dried clothes, made up bed again. Washed S. side of house & awning. Pulled grass & weeds & a few old flowers in bed in S.W. corner of front yard. Carla came & we got bed down, put suitcase up. Got supper, did dishes. Reconciled bank statements, watched TV. To bed at 11:30.

Saturday, September 21, 1985: Woke about 6:15, read and napped until about 8:30. Didn’t feel very good, had stomach cramps & diarrhea. Took shower, dressed. Washed & put up hair. Had breakfast, dried hair. Worked old Statesman X-word and read paper. Measured in garage for boards for floor at head of ladder. Talked to Linda a little. Went downtown to get VCR cartridge so picked up lumber, too. Carried it up & nailed it down when I got home. Then when Carla came we put the bed up there; will be easier to get to now. Got supper, Nancy & kids came over for showers. Read papers, watched TV. Took X-words out of all Tribs. To bed at 12:45.

Sunday, September 22, 1985: Woke about 6:00, read a while. Slept until 9:10. Read papers some more, got up at 10:00. Washed & dressed, got in papers. Had breakfast, read I-P-T TV guide. Was sleepy so laid down on love seat & took nap. Carla came & woke me. Were going over to Nancys when Helen Petersik called, Cindy came, too. Afterwards we went over and saw the house. When we got back Cindy went over to Lindas & I started supper. Put meat on to cook, made fresh peach pie. Fixed potatoes & salad, corn on cob. After we ate, looked at doll clothes. Carla soon left. Judy called. I did dishes, cut off some sunflowers. Read papers, worked X-word & watched TV. To bed at 12:17.

Monday, September 23, 1985: Woke at 7:11, back to sleep till 7:45. Read a little, up at 8:30. Dressed, made bed. Cleaned out train case, emptied waste baskets. Worked with VCR again. Had breakfast, Lisa called. Talked to Linda and Nancy. Looked at mail and old letters, etc. Had lunch, more old letters. Got ready to go to Cindy’s soccer game. Set VCR to record “WHEEL of FORTUNE” & “SCARECROW” for Megan. Got home from game about 6:50. Had supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Wrote letter to Phyllis & sent check for flowers for Marie. To bed at 12:00.

Tuesday, September 24, 1985: Woke early, back to sleep until 9:10. Got up, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, got steel balls from behind fireplace & fixed clock. Moved it from mantel. Got in aluminum card table & moved it next to TV. Put jigsaw puzzle on it & folded up big card table. Glued more of jig saw pieces, moved puzzles, etc. Cleaned in that area. Talked to Nancy & to Linda. Had lunch, got in mail. Started cleaning off dining room table, slow going because there is so much junk. Took some stuff out to garage. Meg came over to watch “Scarecrow” & did her homework. I didn’t go to Cindy’s game but they tied, 1-1, tonight. Will have to go again next week. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Don’t know if Lisa got here or not. Judy called tonite. To bed at 12:30.

Wednesday, September 25, 1985: Woke about 7:10, back to sleep till 8:15. Got up, dressed. Made bed, worked in family room again. Glued some more puzzle pieces. Nancy came over & said Lisa was coming over soon. Fixed my breakfast, was in the middle of eating when Nancy called so went over for a while. Met Lisa’s friend, John, & another friend. Brought back some tomatoes when I came home. Recorded rest of “WHEEL” & “SCRABBLE” so watched that when I got home & glued some more of jigsaw. Worked on coupons & papers, talked to Linda. Brought home some tomatoes so washed, cored & cooked them. Had lunch, looked at mail. Watered flowers in dining & fam. room. Went over at 4:00 & picked beans at Nancys, got quite a few. Fixed supper, did dishes. Snapped beans all evening, ran dishwasher. Watched TV. To bed at 12:10. Telephone rang 11:45 & was someone (a cousin) wanting to get in touch with Charlene Wolfe ___’s brother, Joe Hoffman. (Hedrick relation)

Thursday, September 26, 1985: Woke about 5:00, back to sleep till 8:00. Got up, washed & dressed. Made bed, canned tomatoes (4 jars). Had breakfast, got stuff ready to go downtown. Paula called about 9:45. I left for town about 1:00. Set VCR to tape Soaps. Went to K-Mart & got another tape, also pix, to Ernsts & got Circle lite, bulbs, etc. Stopped at Hoffman’s Nursery & got a tree, Ruby Red Maple. Got groc. at Pauls, home about 4:30. Put away groc., worked on beans & watched VCR. Stopped and got supper, did dishes, then finished with beans. Nancy & kids came over about 9:45. Mike sleeping with me. Judy called tonite. Read paper, watched TV. To bed at 12:20.

Friday, September 27, 1985: Woke at 6:41, turned up furnace. Woke Mike at 6:50, he got up at 7:00. I read papers, dozed until 8:30. Dressed, made bed. Had breakfast, talked to Linda. She has a bad cold. Pasted more jigsaw pieces and watched tape on VCR. Started canning beans, 3 cookers full (12 jars). Cooked rest to eat fresh. Had lunch, started to clean. Vacuumed kitchen, bath & hall. Dusted & vacuumed livingroom. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. To bed at 11:30. Mike & Cindy stayed at Pauls tonight & Nancy at home so I’m alone with Sammy. Throat a little sore, hope I’m not catching cold.

Saturday, September 28, 1985: Woke at 6:15, read a little, back to sleep till 8:30. Up about 9:00. Went down to check furnace door panel. Was O.K. Washed load of colored clothes. Nancy & Cindy came over, took rings off bean jars, marked “85” on top; Cindy helped. After they left I took shower & washed hair. Called Carla, Marilyn & Mabel. Put up hair, had breakfast & watched VCR Tape. Worked some more on jigsaw. Made bed, dried hair. Linda came with some mending & after that we went out to Hoffman Nursery w/pickup and got my tree. Brought in flowers from patio & geranium slips. Covered flowers in front; supposed to get pretty cold tonight. Fixed supper, did dishes. Ran dishwasher, dried clothes. Read paper, watched TV. Taped several programs. Nancy & kids came over to stay all night. To bed at 11:30.

Sunday, September 29, 1985: Woke at 6:00, back to sleep for a little while until 8:00. Got up & turned up heat, made O.J. Mike & Cindy went to Sunday School. Nancy went home to get ready for church. I made bed, washed & dressed. Had breakfast, read IP-TV Guide. Made angel food cake, got in turkey roasts. Also frozen raspberries. Made cranberry salad, thickened raspberry sauce for dessert. Made baked beans & put them & roasts in oven to bake. Vacuumed floors in bath, hall, kitchen, dining room & sm. bath. Cleaned off tables. Paula & Jim came, Jim went golfing & Paula went over to see Paul’s & Nancy’s houses. Carla & Bill came about 5:00 so I finished up supper & then Linda & Ted & kids came, too. Bill dug up my tree & planted the new one, bless his heart. They left soon after we ate so he could get his tree planted. We cleared up & did dishes. Went over to see Paul’s house & then Paula & Jim left. Nancy & kids & I came home & while they got ready for bed, baths, etc., I finished up dishes & ran dishwasher. I came in bedroom to keep Cindy company while she went to sleep & I worked X-word – fell asleep, too. Woke up & got ready for bed. 11:45

Monday, September 30, 1985: Woke about 4:00, back to sleep until 8:30. Got up, dressed. Worked on jigsaw & watched VCR. Wiped moisture from windows, took down shades from front porch. Changed fan in bedroom, had breakfast. Dried rest of clothes in washer. Went out & washed down front of house, then N. side. Took down N. screens, had lunch. Washed N. windows inside & out, washed storm windows & put up. Got ready to go to Cindy’s soccer game, they won again 2-0. Are doing OK! Came home & got supper. Did dishes, read paper, watched TV. To bed at 11:15.

Tuesday, July 1, 1980: Sunny. Clouded over & had a little shower, then cleared & pretty warm. Up at 8:00. Dressed. Got the water so started irrigating. Worked on quack grass. Grape is coming again. Tried to dam up water so Mrs. Ms driveway doesn’t get wet. Got lunch, made bed, did dishes. Washed & got ready to go downtown. Put groceries away. Got supper. Went back down for cherries. Got 20# – 50¢ per. Did dishes, read papers, watched TV. Got jars ready. To bed at 1:00.

Wednesday, July 2, 1980: Sunny. Clouded up and really rained in afternoon. Up at 8:15. Dressed, made bed, had breakfast. Talked to Linda – they’re going to old penitentiary today. Canned cherries – got 16 qts., plus 2 pts. in freezer. Also ate quite a few and saved back a dish to eat fresh. Glad that’s done. Got my clothes from Lane Bryant – they’re beautiful. Dad didn’t come for lunch so that was a big help. Got supper. Did dishes. Cleaned chicken pcs. Washed berries & got ready for freezer. Watched TV. Read part of paper. To bed at 12:30.

Thursday, July 3, 1980: Clouded up in evening & had thunder & lightning & about an inch of rain. Up at 8:34. Bright sun. Little wind, too. Took shower, washed & put up hair. Had breakfast. Made up deposit, paid some bills & dried my hair. (made bed) Got ready to go downtown. Megan not feeling very good again so Linda taking her to Dr. I stopped & got some of her bills to pay. Was a real mad house at grocery store – day before 4th. Kids didn’t come for supper – Jordan’s gone to Utah & Megan sick. I put away groc. & got supper. Did dishes, read paper, picked berries til it got so dark I couldn’t see. To bed at 12:30.

Friday, July 4, 1980: Was really nice, not too hot. but not cool, either. Up at 8:30. Sunny. Had breakfast. Finished picking berries & washed off patio. Washed & dressed. Vacuumed floors in liv. room, kitchen, bath, dining room & new bath. Fixed beans to bake, cooked eggs & potatoes & made potato salad. Baked two raspberry pies. Made salad. Got meat ready for Dad. Carla & Bill came & then Paula & Jim. Guys & Paula went down to Luby Park & played ball a little while. Carla stayed here & helped me – made iced tea. We ate about 4:30. Cleaned up dishes, etc. Got ready to go down to fireworks. Carla & Bill didn’t stay. Kids enjoyed “ [fireworks]. Got home about 11:45. I let Sandy out, then got Sam to bed. Read paper. To bed about 1:25.

Tuesday, July 8, 1980: Light clouds. Intermittent – sunny & cloudy. Up at 8:30. Sunny. Warm in afternoon. Had breakfast. Made bed. Odd jobs. Got the water about 11:00. Worked on S. flower bed. Set out asters in P.M. Hope bugs don’t eat them. Transplanted 2 geraniums. Cut weeds back of garage. Got lunch for Dad. Carla came & fixed lunch for us. She stayed a while. I did dishes after she left. Washed col. rayons. Helped Dad with battery. Went over to take care of Stormy, etc. Got supper, did dishes, read paper, watched TV (ALL-STAR GAME). Got ready to go to bed at 1:00 when police called. Said Stormy was barking & neighbors complained. So I went over there & slept – about 2:30.

Wednesday, July 9, 1980: Up at 6:50. Sunny. Dad came over & got me. Came back home & tried but couldn’t go back to sleep. Had breakfast. Trimmed & cleaned out rose bush. Washed clothes, sewed a little. Cleaned off white shelf in garage & put it in fruit room. Got lunch. Took shower & washed & put up hair. Took short nap. Picked berries. Got supper. Did dishes. Went over to Lindas to sleep. Stormy never barked at all! To bed at 12:00.

Thursday, July 10, 1980: Up at 8:30. Sunny. Dressed & came home. Got pkg. (keys) ready to mail to Sams. Made up deposit. Paid more bills. Got ready & went downtown. Went out to Penneys and bought bedroom set. Will deliver Wed. Got home & put away groc. Fixed supper. Did dishes. Went over to stay at Lindas. To bed about 12:00.

Friday, July 11, 1980: Up at 8:30. Sunny. Dressed. Noticed Budgie wasn’t acting right so made Lindas beds & waited to see how he was. Found him crouched in corner on bottom of cage. Didn’t know what to do. Came home & was locked out so went over to Jordans and called Dad He came up & unlocked the door & Jan told me Dr. Enoch worked on birds. Took Budgie out there but he was dead by the time I got there. I am just sick! and can’t figure out what was wrong. Just couldn’t do anything all day I felt so bad. Worked at odd jobs. Got lunch & supper. Did dishes, watched TV. To bed about 12:30 but couldn’t go to sleep.

Saturday, July 12, 1980: Up at 8:30. Sunny. Dressed, had breakfast. Worked on quack grass ‘till it got too hot. Felt so bad about Budgie, just couldn’t stand to stay inside. Monday, July 14, 1980: Up at 7:45. Cloudy & cooler. Had a little rain shower, warmed up in afternoon. Dressed & had breakfast. Made bed. Pd. Inc. Tax Est. & some bills. Started cleaning room downstairs; moved bed; moved big chest down; sprayed for bugs, etc., as I found a black widow spider again. Washed a load of work clothes. Got lunch & supper. Did dishes. Read paper, watched TV, to bed about 12:30.

Tuesday, July 15, 1980: Up at 8:10. Sunny. Dressed, had breakfast. Washed load of clothes & dried a load. Matt & Megan came & then I soon got the water & irrigated. Worked a little on quack grass until I got water. Had lots of company – Johnny, Brian, 2 Kellys and Marc. Got lunch for Dad & then Linda came. I got washed & dressed & ready to go downtown. When I got home, put away groc, got supper. Did dishes, read paper, watched TV. To bed about 12:00.

Wednesday, July 16, 1980: Up at 7:55. Sunny. Got pretty warm. Dressed, had breakfast, made bed. Paul called & is going on a float trip down Salmon so coming in to Boise today. Dad went over to see him so had the whole day to get ready for furniture. They finally came about 3:00. Got all the stuff put away in our room. Still have some to do in the pink room. Dad didn’t say anything about the furniture – just “See you got some new furniture.” Got supper, did dishes, put up hair, picked berries, watered flower beds, snapped sack of beans. Reagan nominated, picked George Bush. To bed about 12:45.

Thurseday, July 17, 1980: Up at 8:20. Sunny. Got pretty hot. Washed & dressed. Had breakfast. Made up deposit & got ready to go downtown. Left about 11:00. Got home at 3:00. Washed jars in dishwasher. Washed & blanched beans. Put away groceries. Canned beans (8 pts.). Cooked rest to eat. Meg came about 5:00. Matt went w/Ted to get a haircut – came about 6.  We had supper, then had to go over & get their bikes. Linda & Ted came about 8:00. Did dishes, read paper. To bed at 12:20.

Friday, July 18, 1980: Up at 8:40. Sunny & warm. Few clouds in afternoon. Dressed, started canning apricots. Got 8 qts. & 8 pts. plus a dish of sauce. Had breakfast, then lunch. After I finished apricots, made bed, cleaned livingroom, vacuumed kitchen. Watered flowers on patio. Fixed some soup for supper. Read papers, watched TV. Dad got home about 8:00. To bed about 1:00. (Called Carla (& got Bill) about sweeper.

Saturday, July 19, 1980: Up at 8:20. Sunny. Got pretty hot. Washed & dressed. Made bed, had breakfast. Started working on books. Finally got them done in afternoon. Got supper. Watered flower bed S. of house and under birch tree. After supper, did dishes, read papers, watched TV. To bed about 12:00.

Sunday, July 20, 1980: Up at 9:40. Sunny & hot. 99° Got breakfast, then took shower & washed & put up hair. Made bed. Dried hair & worked X-word. Carla came so I started supper. After we ate, she mowed lawn. We helped her a little & I picked berries. After she left I did dishes, watched TV, read papers. To bed about 12:00.

Monday, July 21, 1980: Up at 8:30. Sunny & hot! 102° Washed & dressed. Got ready & took work to bookkeeper & got groceries. Put away groceries, got lunch, did dishes. Took Sam out to vet. She was so good, didn’t even put her in box coming home. Took some blood & will run some tests on her. Got supper. Did dishes, read paper, watched TV. To bed at 12:00.

Tuesday, July 22, 1980: Up at 8:30. Sunny & hot!  Clouded up in evening but no rain. 106° Dressed & had breakfast. Kids came about 9:30 so I started irrigating. Worked on quack grass a little, then started trimming rose by garage. Got lunch. Did dishes, then started working on headboard of bed. Went over at 3:30 and Jan cut my hair. Finished bed, got supper, did dishes, read paper, watched TV. To bed at 1:00. Vet called & have to take Sam in to hosp. for a few days. Has a little kidney problem.

Wednesday, July 23, 1980: Up at 8:15. Sunny! Not quite so hot. 98° Took shower, put up hair. Dressed, had breakfast, dried hair. Talked to Linda. Took Sam out to Hospital. Poor Sammy. Got lunch, did dishes. Worked on dresser, think I have it fixed so drawers will work O.K. now & [dust?] liners should stay in place. Watered flowers on patio & flower bed under tree. Fixed shade on swing. Got supper. Linda & Meg came over. Did dishes, then wrapped pkgs., got deposit, etc., ready. To bed at 12:00.

Thursday, July 24, 1980: Up at 8:00. Sunny. Hot. 99° Washed, dressed, had breakfast. Got ready to go downtown. Went to dentist & had teeth cleaned. No cavities. Took Matt & Megan stayed w/Linda. Got licenses for trucks, got groceries, had lunch. Got stuff from bookkeeper. Got home about 2:45. Called about Sam. She’s doing O.K. but protesting mightily. Kids came little before 5:00. Got supper. Did dishes. Linda & Ted came about 7:45. Left around 8:45. I read papers & watched TV. To bed about 12:00.

Friday, July 25, 1980: Up at 7:45. Sunny. Pretty hot in afternoon. 95° Dressed, watered flowers outside. Picked few beans & asparagus. Cleaned family room. Made bed. Got lunch & supper. Dad came home early. Not feeling too good. Has pain in back of head. Called about Sam and she’s not too good. Her kidneys are not working too well. I’m worried about her. After supper did dishes, read paper. Had soaked underwear all day so washed load after supper. Watched TV. To bed about 12:20.

Saturday, July 26, 1980: Up at 8:40. Sunny & hot. 95° Dressed, worked in quack grass. Linda came over & I rolled up her perm. Took shower. Called Dr. & he said to come & get Sam. She just slept on the patio all afternoon. I took a nap. Leona called – is coming Tuesday on train. Dad called Jays. Paula & Jim were over, went golfing. Carla called. Got supper. Mowed lawn. Did dishes. Worked on books & watched TV. To bed about one.

Tuesday, July 29, 1980: Up at 8:00. Sunny & hot. Dad turned on water when he went to work & back yard was really flooded. Turned it to front & was soon done irrigating. Cleaned living room, kitchen & dining room. Put up hair & took shower. Got lunch & supper. Baked Stir & Frost Cake. Did dishes. Got ready to go to train. Went downtown for a few things. Linda came over & went with us to train. Was right on time. So nice to see Leona & Elaine again! Had lunch. To bed about 1:00.

Wednesday, July 30, 1980: Up at 9:30. Sunny & hot. Fixed breakfast. Started getting things ready for supper. Got lunch. Baked pies, 1 peach & 1 blueberry. Paula rode her bike over, got here about 2:30. Elaine finally got their reservations changed to Fri. morning. Had a very good supper. Jim got here just in time. Did dishes afterwards & visited. Went to bed about 12:30.

Thursday, July 31, 1980: Up at 8:30. Sunny & hot. Had breakfast. Did dishes. Got stuff ready for downtown. Washed & dressed. Got lunch. Went down & did what we had to here, then got Linda & Meg (Matt stayed with Ted), went out to Karcher to shop. Got home about 5:00, then went out to North’s Chuck Wagon for supper. Food was fair. Got home little before 7:00. Carla soon came & we sat around & visited. Went to bed at 12:30.

Sunday, June 1, 1980: Up at 8:30. Cloudy & raining. Cleared off for a while, then clouded up in afternoon and really poured. Got breakfast, took shower & put up hair. Made bed. Dried hair & worked X-word. Worked outside a little. Carla came & we worked on her skirts – got 3 more fixed and ironed 2 of them. Pressed 2 of my blouses. She went over to see Shari for a little while & I fixed supper. After supper, she left. I did dishes. Read papers & watched TV. To bed at 1:05.

Monday, June 2, 1980: *Daffodil seeds. Up at 8:35. Sunny, cool, clouded up some but never did rain. Have a little sore throat. Washed & dressed. Mrs. M. called, needed some stamps so I took them over to her. Paula called & by then was time to get lunch. Washed hair and had Jan Jordan cut it. Then put it up. Did dishes, replanted some beans, planted rest of glads, asters, lace flowers, geratum, dill, daffodil seeds.* Changed soil in pot above sinks, planted impatiens, about a dozen tiny seeds. Got supper. Read paper, did dishes. Made out order to Fashion Finds. Watched TV. Put white clo. to soak. To bed about 12:45.

Tuesday, June 3, 1980: Up at 8:45. Sunny but cool. Storm blew up in evening. Dressed, made bed. Didn’t have kids today. Packed Dad’s suitcase. Got mine in. Put away rakes, etc. Planted one geranium. Watered S. flower bed. Washed 2 loads of clo. Sewed. Pressed green pants. Got lunch. Paula called – her X-rays showed nothing wrong. Got supper. Did dishes, read paper, watched TV, etc. To bed at 1:00.

Wednesday, June 4, 1980: Up at 8:10. Sunny, still cool. Washed & dressed. Put up hair. Made bed. Put away clothes in pink room. Finished packing. Watered flowers. Put away ladders, etc. Ate breakfast. Got Dad’s lunch. Did dishes. Got ready to go to Airport. Linda, Ted & kids came & we left at 3:00. Neither Carla nor Paula came out. Plane left right on time & was early getting in to Seattle. Jay met us & were soon at their house. Nancy fixed supper in microwave. Was very good. Sat around & talked. Got to bed about 12:00.

Thursday, June 5, 1980: Up at 8:30. PDT. Raining. Rained all day. Washed & dressed. Had breakfast. Went for groceries with Nancy. Went to Steele Park for Mike’s baseball pix. Came home & Nancy fixed supper. Waffles & sausage. Watched TV, then to bed about 11:00.

Friday, June 6, 1980: Up at 8:30. Cloudy & still raining a little. Cleared off about 11:00 & no more rain. Sun off & on. Had breakfast. Made bed, washed & dressed. Went with Nancy to shop again. Cindy went to sleep on the way home. She’s beginning to make up to me – let me hold her & play at the table tonight. She’s sure a little cutie. Mike & I played checkers & some Yahtzee. He beat me at checkers. Jay fixed steaks on the barbeque & were very good! Watched TV, then to bed about 10:30.

Saturday, June 7, 1980: Up at 7:30. Still cloudy but no rain. Washed & dressed. Had breakfast. Got ready to go to Mike’s game. Lots of fun to watch. He got several good hits and made some nice plays at first. Jay & Dad went to work. Sprinkled once during the game was all. Had lunch. Played some games with Mike. Took a nap then helped Nancy weed. Went to Black Angus for supper. Was very good but Cindy cried & Jay had to take her out. Soon went to bed after we got home. Bed at 10:45.

Sunday, June 8, 1980: Jay has to go to Atlanta tomorrow. Up at 7:50. Cloudy & raining off & on. Washed & dressed. Jay had to go back in to work for a while so went out for breakfast after they got back. Then went to Jafco & Pay ‘N Pak. Then came home. Just read, embroidered, played cards with Mike, etc. Had supper. Cleared up dishes, played with Cindy. She was good as gold at breakfast & really feeling good all afternoon. Got ready for bed early as Jay has to leave at 6:30. To bed at 10:30.

Monday, June 9, 1980: Up at 5:20. Cloudy off & on. Sun in afternoon. Got ready & took Jay to Airport. He took 8:50 flight so we left to take Mike to school, then went to Sambo’s for breakfast. Was good. When we got home I embroidered some, pulled a bunch of weeds, explored Mike’s jungle, saw a snake! Had supper. Cleared dishes. Embroidered some more. To bed about 10:30.

Tuesday, June 10, 1980: Up at 8:00. Cloudy – little sunshine off & on. Had breakfast. Washed & dressed. Made bed. Got ready & went to Ernsts & K-Mart. When we got home I packed suitcases & got ready to go to airport. When Mike got home, we left for the airport. Had a good flight. Linda & Ted and kids were there & also Paula and Jim. Carla didn’t make it but called later & they got home safe. We came right on home. Was kind of tired. Looked at mail, etc. To bed about 12:00.

Wednesday, June 11, 1980: ROY & PHYLLIS’ ANNIV. Up at 8:00. Sunny – got a little stormy in P.M. Had breakfast. Washed & put up my hair. Made bed. Unpacked Dad’s suitcase. Got lunch. Irrigated. Did dishes. Trimmed spirea bush. Watered S. flower bed. Got supper. Linda came over. After she left, did dishes, read paper, wrote to Laurie & wrapped her gift. To bed about 1:30.

Thursday, June 13, 1980: Up at 8:15. Raining. Alternated sun & storm. Washed & dressed. Had breakfast. Made up deposit. Got Laurie’s package ready to mail. Did dishes. Made bed. Got ready to go downtown. Had lunch at new restaurant. Ordered Carla’s freezer & b-b-q for Dad. Don’t suppose it will get here for Sunday – darn! Kids came home with me for supper. After they left I did dishes, watched TV, read paper, embroidered. To bed at 1:00.

Vacuumed kitchen, made bed, started to clean pink bath. Got supper, did dishes, read papers, worked on emb. picture. Put up trak-lite, temporarily, & think it will work O.K. To bed at 12:45.

Saturday, June 14, 1980: Up at 8:45. Sunny & cool. Cloudy at times but no rain. Dressed, had breakfast. Cleaned family room. Wards called & my order was in so went down & got it. Went over to Lindas & Ted offered to put the BBQ grill together so helped him & it took rest of the afternoon. Came home & fixed supper. Did dishes, embroidered, watched TV. To bed about 1:00.

Sunday, June 15, 1980: FATHER’S DAY  Sunny. Stayed nice all day. Got breakfast. Took shower & put up my hair. Paula & Jim came & left Buffy. Went golfing. I made bed, cleaned old bath, vacuumed hall, kitchen, dining room, cleaned new bath & swept out utility. About 1:00 Linda, Ted & kids came over & brought the new BBQ grill. Guess Dad suspected something when I was over there so long yesterday. Anyway it is really nice. They went down to Ted’s folks & then Carla came. Later on, Dad said maybe we should invite Judy up to eat with us & when I called, Eddie was home, too, so they both came. Dad did a real good job on the steaks. After everyone left I worked X-word – hard one – finished cleaning up kitchen, watched TV. To bed at 1:00.

Monday, June 16, 1980: Up at 8:45. Sunny. Warm in P.M. Dressed, had breakfast. Vacuumed floors in living room, hall, baths, kitchen & dining room. Called spray people & also hospital. Picked a few berries. Got lunch & supper. Did dishes & ran dishwasher. Finished cleaning burners on stove. Read paper, watched TV, embroidered. To bed at 12:45.

Tuesday, June 17, 1980: Up at 8:15. Sunny. Got pretty warm. Washed & dressed. Matt & Megan came over. Meg not feeling quite right. Fixed their breakfast & had mine. Worked outside – straightened up birch tree, tied up grapes, got toys for kids. Got lunch, did dishes. Man from Spray Co. came – wants $62.50! Mrs. Jordan gave me some radishes & lettuce so cleaned them. Got ready & went to town. Got groc. & paid tel. bill. Put away groc., got supper. Did dishes, read paper, watched TV, embroidered. To bed at 12:30. Wind blew again tonight.

Wednesday, June 18, 1980: Folks’ anniv. Up at 8:30. Sunny. Clouded up in afternoon & stormed but no rain. Dressed, had breakfast. Made bed. Watered flower bed & fixed hoses so I could water birch tree and shrub in corner of yard. Worked on books & got them ready for bookkeeper. Came out right the first time! Had the yard sprayed – A-ABLE – only charged $35. Got lunch & supper. Vacuumed floor in fam. room. Buffy had lice so hope none got on Sam. Did dishes, read paper, watched TV. Linda came over. Megan still had little temp. To bed at 1:00.

Thursday, June 19, 1980: Up at 8:30. Sunny. Got pretty hot. 90°  Washed & dressed. Had breakfast. Got ready to go downtown. Ate at Dairy Queen. Took stuff to bookkeeper. Got groc. Got home about 3:00. Put away groc., made bed. Watered flowers S. of house. Kids came over. Johnny wasn’t home so Matt didn’t know what to do – both read Reader’s Digests. Got supper. Dad made Matt a spear. They went home about 9:00. I did dishes, read paper, watched TV. To bed about 1:00.  Cats fighting under our window. Tho’t I’d never get to sleep.

Friday, June 20, 1980: Up at 8:30. Light sun. Pretty warm. Blood drawing today. Washed & dressed. Had breakfast, put up hair, made bed. Set out cukes. Worked on quack grass by driveway. Came in to get lunch but Dad called & ate with Paul. I took shower & got ready to go down. Blood pressure was 138/84. Got supper. Kelly hurt his back so we’ll have to mow until he gets better. Helped Dad, then came in & finished dishes. Read paper, watched TV, embroidered. To bed about 1:00.

Saturday, June 21, 1980: Up at 9:00. Sunny. Pretty hot. Paula came right after I got up. We sat & talked until Linda came for her about 10:00. Dressed, had breakfast, made bed. Sam H. called from Oregon – will be coming through here next weekend so will have company. Weeded part of flowerbed by garage. Watered flower bed S of house. Came in & cleaned pink bedroom. Got supper, did dishes, read papers, watched TV. To bed about 12:30.

Went out & finished weeding quack grass. Carla came & I started supper. Ate about 4:30. Carla left about 6:00. Linda & Matt came over to show me her new bike – pretty nice. I did dishes, watched TV, read papers, then went down & cleaned off bed downstairs. Washed rayons, ironed. Cleaned a little. To bed about 1:00.

Monday, June 23, 1980: Showered a little in A.M. Up at 7:50. Cloudy & cooler. Didn’t get very warm. Dressed, had breakfast. Worked outside a little. Made bed. Cleaned downstairs. Washed dark coloreds, rug in big room, & light coloreds. Sewed a little. Cleaned our room. Got lunch & supper. Did dishes, read paper, swept out garage & cleaned off by back step. Watched TV. To bed about 1:00.

Helen Zimmerman called – talked for quite a while. Dusted fam. room. Got supper, did dishes, read paper. Washed couple more loads of clothes. Put away winter clothes in garage. Watched TV. To bed about 12:45.

Thursday, June 26, 1980: Up at 8:00. Sunny. Clouded up about noon & really blew hard all afternoon. Made bed. Cleaned living room, kitchen, old bath, fam. room, new bath & rest of dining room. Swept utility. Got supper. Did dishes. Norma called about 7:00 & said they were in Burns & would be in yet tonite. Dad said they wouldn’t be in til midnight so I took a shower & washed my hair. When I finished, they were here already. I changed our bed, too, after they called. Linda came over & we visited. Got to bed about 12:30.

Friday, June 27, 1980: Up at 7:50. Sunny. Front yard a mess, also patio. Everybody slept kind of late so I got my hair put up.Then got breakfast. Did dishes. Fixed stuff for supper. Then Norma, Sam, Mary & I went to see Helen & JoAnn.She has a really beautiful place out of Meridian but they’re getting ready to sell it. Got home kind of late. Got supper & Linda & Megan came over. Matt was sick so he and Ted stayed home and we sent Ted’s supper over. After supper, did dishes, then looked at slides. Got to bed again about 12:30.

Saturday, June 28, 1980: Up at 8:00. Sunny again, got pretty warm. Fixed breakfast. Norma & Mary went over to Lindas. I cleaned off patio. When they got back they cleaned up branches in front yard. Norma, Sam, Mary & I drove out to see Carol awhile. She has pleurisy. Debbie not home so we couldn’t go to see her. (Supposed to stop by in evening but never did.) We fixed steaks for supper & ate Cafeteria style. Carla & Bill came and Paula but Jim got a migraine so couldn’t come. Linda, Ted & kids came, too. Matt O.K. again. Got to bed about 12:00.

Sunday, June 29, 1980: Sunny & warm in afternoon. Got up at 5:00. Fixed coffee & juice. They left at 6:00. I was sleepy so went back to bed. Slept until 9:30. Got up & fixed my breakfast; Dad had already fixed his. After breakfast, we mowed the lawn. I put up my hair, then started working on statements. Got done about 4:00. Got supper, did dishes; Dad slept about all day. I read paper, worked X-word, went to bed about 12:30.

Friday, June 1, 1984: Woke at 4:30, read until 6:00. Fell asleep again until 8:00. Dressed, transplanted rest of petunias. Took Sam down to An. Hosp. at 9:30. Called about 12:30 but not done with her yet. Had breakfast, got down suitcases. Had lunch. Called about 2:30 & I went down for Sam. Looked at mail, etc. Washed & got ready to go to Carlas Had a very good supper & Bill really has done a lot of work on their place. Got home about 10:00. Called Linda. Man came about putting on metal on house but I’m pretty uneasy about it. Don’t know what to do. Read paper & watched TV. To bed at 12:20.

Saturday, June 2, 1984: Woke at 4:15 & couldn’t go back to sleep. Call Wes about 7:45, he said not to let the guy go ahead with work if he hadn’t done it before. Tried to call Smith & BBB but no answer. Called Blank & he never did call back. Finally called Rettig & talked to him. He said, too, not to let the man do the work. Also bring in the contract first thing Monday morning. Called & had Linda come over & talked to her about the deal. Didn’t feel good all day. Worked at various odd jobs & watched for workman but he never came. Had lunch, noticed, too, that material was not Revere as Smith said it was. Linda came over & helped me move material so I could turn sprinkler back on. Got labels off boxes. Had supper, did dishes. Read old papers, watched TV. Washed & dried load of colored clothes. To bed at 11:15.

Sunday, June 3, 1984: Woke at 2:15, back to sleep till 4:30. Read a while, went back to sleep. Up at 7:40. Took shower, washed & put up hair. Dried hair & read paper. Had breakfast, got out chicken legs & raspberries from freezer. Read paper some more, got sleepy but didn’t sleep much. Carla called, said she’d be over soon. Linda & Meg came to get suitcases, Matt & Ted watching basketball game. After awhile, Carla came, Linda & Meg left. I started supper, we worked X-word while it was getting done. After we ate, got a bouquet of iris & went to the cemetery. Pulled grass around edge of stone. Carla left when we got home. I did dishes & cleaned up kitchen. Washed load of yellow rayons, dried them. Fixed elastic on 3 pr. of pants. Watched some TV. To bed at 11:15. End came off of spray hose & went into garbage disp.

Monday, June 4, 1984: Had breakfast. Rained off & on. Woke at 1:15. Read a while, slept, read some more, slept again. Got up at 7:40. Washed & dressed. Men came to start work, so I told them I didn’t want them to start. They came later & picked up material. Told me he had been doing this work for about 2 yrs, at Twin Falls but this was his first job for Siding Wholesalers. I called BBB & they gave an unfavorable report on Co. Went down to see Rettig about 9:15. He looked up Consumer Protection Code & said that since the 3-day refusal statement wasn’t included in the contract I could still refuse it for 40 days. Is going to try that & hope he can get my money back. Had lunch, washed two loads of clothes, dried & put away. Partially packed suitcases. Linda & Meg were over. Paula called, also Judy & Jay. Had supper, emptied dishwasher. Did dishes, put out garbage. Emptied catbox & cleaned downstairs today. Read paper, watched TV. Bed 11:15.

Tuesday, June 5, 1984: Woke at 1:15, back to sleep until 6:45. Dressed, made bed. Gave Sam her last pill – thank goodness! Hope she stays well for a while now. Put lock on gate. Put away furn., etc. on patio. Had breakfast, fixed locks on garage screens. Put stuff from frig. freezer into garage freezer. Turned off washer, dryer, stove. Unplugged TVs. Finished packing. Rettig called & said we couldn’t use Cons. Protection Code because it wasn’t a Credit sale. Ted came up to charge frig. & I talked it over with him – seemed to think I should go ahead with job. He called Siding Co. & talked to them. Hope that comes out O.K. He also checked air conditioner. I watered all flowers. Had supper, called Carla. Did dishes, watched TV. Took shower, washed face, read paper. To bed at 11:30.

Wednesday, June 6, 1984: Up at 5:00. Dressed, etc., made bed. Had O.J., turned on irrig. system. Finished up suitcases, called information to get Opal’s number. Linda & Ted came about 7:00 so loaded up & left. Checked in tickets & suitcases & then went upstairs. Plane was about 45 min. late so got in to Denver about 11:15. Had to hurry to catch our plane to Chi.- went by way of Okla. City! Got in to Chi. on time. Ralph & Rosie waiting. Got our luggage & headed for Fairbury. Had a light supper when we got there. Afterwards Marie, Carol & Leona came down. Went to bed about 11:30.

Thursday, June 7, 1984: Up at 8:30. Had breakfast. Went for walk with Linda & Rosie – 2 mi. Washed & dressed. Had lunch, sat & visited. Went to Leona’s for supper – so good. Marie there, too. Sam & Norma came in  & Tom Ladeirous & Kiley came, too. Rosie came later. To bed at 11:30. Called Ted when we got back to Rosie’s.

Friday, June 8, 1984: Up at 7:30, read my watch wrong, thought it was 8:30. Dressed & waited for Rosie so we could go for our walk but she didn’t come back so we got ready to go to Marie’s for brunch. Was so good. Deanna, Arlene, & Leona were there, too. Her new apt. is so pretty. Left there about 2:30 & went out to Sam’s. Meg got to ride on the horse & then they went swimming. Had a good time. Leona brought us back in to Rosie’s. Had supper & sat around & visited. Ralph made popcorn. Had a pretty nice rain. To bed at 11:30.

Saturday, June 9, 1984: Up at 8:00. Cloudy, has been kind of hot & humid. Linda & I went for walk while Rosie went to shower. Took shower when we got back & got cleaned up. Went to Leona’s for lunch; Marie was there too. Left about 2:00 & went to Pontiac to shop. Ralph ran over “C.D.,” the dog, this noon and killed him. Was so sad and feel so sorry for him. Got a few things to take home in Pontiac, also a pretty pink blouse. After we got home, had supper. Ralph went to races. We just sat & visited, Rosie made salad to take to Lindas tomorrow. To bed about 12:00.

Sunday, June 10, 1984: Up about 8:30. Ate breakfast. Went for our walk. Linda & Rosie went on at the corner & walked about 4 miles. I came back & saw a big snake on the way home. Washed & put up my hair, took shower. Worked on their X-word & dried my hair, then went down to Jerry & Linda’s. Mark & Mary Jo there, too. Had a good dinner. Kids all went swimming. After we ate Alice, Paul & Judy came. Drove out to see Mark & Mary Jo’s new house. Then down to Carol Jo’s for supper; Sam & Norm were there, too, then Donna, Jan, Susan, Kurt, Sammy & his new wife Mary, & Diane & her husband came. Also Marie & Leona. Lots of little ones. Went home then with Sam & Norma all night.

Monday, June 11, 1984: Up about 8:00. Visited with Norma & Linda. Kids went in swimming about noon – were in and out all afternoon and Megan, especially, really got red. Carol brought her kids out (Teresa & Darren?). Had B-B-Qd pork chops for supper, were really good. Alice & Leona were there, too. Leona said Roy had called & would be at her house in the morning so we went back in there all night. Was pretty hot, but not too bad sleeping. Leona has air conditioning & surely is lots nicer. Doesn’t cool too much up but helps. To bed about 12:00. Linda, kids, & I went for a walk & found a monarch caterpillar, really tiny one, so they brought it home.

Tuesday, June 12, 1984: Up about 8:00. Dressed, Had breakfast. Roy & Phyllis came – so good to see them. Have been getting along fine on their trip. After we visited a while, went over to Rosie’s a while and Roy went out to see Ralph. After they left, we went back to Leona’s. Had lunch, washed & changed clothes, etc. Leona got supper, had Dottie down for supper too. She’s not feeling too well. Went to bed about 12:00. Kids writing a mystery story about Leona’s house.

Wednesday, June 13, 1984:  1964-1984 – 20 years ago Mama died. Up about 8:00. Had breakfast, washed & dressed. Got ready to go to Bloomington with Rosie. Linda, I, kids, Leona, Alice & Rosie. Went to K-Mart first, then to Perkins for lunch. From there to a mall & shopped around. Kids found some things they wanted so got them for early birthday gifts. A gamewatch for Matt & book for Meg. Went to Kays Store (kind of like Gr. Western) and got gifts there – salad bowl set for Todds & billfold for Ralph. Saw Marlene & Pam there. Really was hot today. Got home about 4:30. Had supper at Leonas then came over to Ralph & Rosie’s. Ralph made ice cream and was really good. Leona picked up Todd & he played TV games with Matt. Then she & I took him home about 9:30. Marlene came in a while. We went to bed about 12:00.

Thursday, June 14, 1984: Up at 8:30. Had breakfast. Linda & Rosie went to aerobics. I was going to walk but never did. Washed & dressed, made beds. Got ready to go to Phyllis’. Leona picked us up. Marie, Leona, Alice, Arlene & her sister, Carol, & we were there. Had Italian beef, potato salad, jello salad, veg. plate, & buns. Iced tea, coffee, & ice cream dessert. Sat & visited after dinner; Linda & kids went down by creek. We all left about 4:00. Took Todd home & stopped at Kay’s a little. Then went to Marie’s for supper. Went over to see Luella Sohn a little. Had rice casserole at Marie’s. Was very good. Did dishes. Looked at pix. Home about 10:00. (Duane came in to Marie’s a while). Real cool tonight. To bed at 12:00. 

Friday, June 15, 1984: Up at 8:30. Had coffee, went for our walk. Really chilly – down to about 60° last night. Linda & Alice went up town & I fed the kids. Was going to get ready when the phone rang – was Kathryn (Slagle) Kaisner. Said she’d come down a while. Phone rang again & was Sheri. Talked a little so didn’t have time to wash. After Kathryn came, phone kept ringing so we hardly had time to visit. She left about 11:30 so I quickly washed & got ready. Met Jean at Walton’s & had lunch with her. Afterwards went out to Margie’s a while, then to Sohn’s. Back to Rosie’s for supper. Afterwards Sam & Norma, Marie, Leona, Alice & Al, Jerry & Family & Margie & Family came down for Ralph’s birthday. Had ice cream & cake. To bed at 11:30. Really went to sleep fast.

Saturday, June 16, 1984: Up at 7:30. Washed & dressed. Had breakfast, got ready to go to Springfield. Left about 9:30. Went to New Salem State Park first & had lunch. Then walked through & saw all old restored houses & stores. Was very interesting, awfully hot tho’. Got kind of headache but left later. From there, went on to Springfield & saw Capitol Bldg. Took tour. Then to Lincoln’s tomb. From there, came on home, kind of tired. Had supper, Al here when we got home. He & Ralph went to races. I took shower & washed my hair. Put up hair. Fixed new home for caterpillar. Dried my hair, embroidered a while. Talked w/Linda & Rosie. To bed about 12:30.

Sunday, June 17, 1984: Father’s Day. Up at 9:00. Slept real good last night. Dressed, Clyde came. Had breakfast, Alice & Al came. Got sleepy, so took a good nap. Had dinner. Got ready to go to Strawn. Left about 4:00. Had a good supper. Leona, Marie, Sam & Norma, Ralph & Rosie, Alice & Al, Clyde & new wife, Donna, Kay, Rod & Todd, Susan, & her husband, Diane, her husband & 2 boys, Elsie & 3 children there for supper. Kathy, Tom & children came later, also Richard & Jeannette. Clyde’s wife seems very nice. Came home about 8:30. I rode with Leona. Went to Ralph’s & got night clothes & a few things. Then Leona came after us. Staying at her house tonight. Had a lunch – to bed at 11:45.

Monday, June 18, 1984: Up about 8:00. Washed & dressed, had breakfast. Did dishes, got ready to go to Forrest. Rosie came & we drove over – The old school in Forrest burned down so have a new school now. Saw Sohn’s old place, also the folks’ house. Drove on up to Wing & drove by the place 1 mi. S. House is weatherbeaten, buildings all gone except crib. Went on to old #7 school & that is gone, too, so sad. Went on into Wing & some of the old houses are still there. Church gone, also our old house but a new one there now – Lloyd Runyon. Drove on west of Wing & saw Sam Hirstein’s place, Callabys, Menno Harms, Sam Metz, Harry & Johnny Harms, Hertleins & Johnny Mawrers. Then went back to Fairbury. Had lunch at Leona’s, then down to Cheri’s a while. Drove out to Arlene’s but she wasn’t home so didn’t get to see the rest of their new house. Back to Rosie & Ralph’s for supper. Clyde was in a while and Leona for a little. (Packed suitcases in afternoon. Carol came, also Linda). Washed. To bed at 11:30.

Tuesday, June 19, 1984: Caterpillar went into its chrysalis this morning. Up at 7:30. Dressed, brushed teeth. Got ready to go down to Marjorie Stephens. Wilma was there & her daughter-in-law, also Marjorie’s daughter Terry & children, Maurice & his wife Ruth, Leona, Rosie & Linda & I & kids. Had coffee & about 6 different kinds of rolls, etc. So nice to see them all. Got home about 10:45. Marie & Leona came down a little. We finished our suitcases & left about 12:00. Had quite a time finding parking. Boarded our plane (a 767) soon after we got there & left on time. Nice smooth flight to Denver. Marilyn, John & Chris (?) were there so we visited. Linda not feeling very well. Jackie & Christine came later. Had a nice visit, late leaving for Boise (727 stretch again) really loaded. Got in to Boise about 10:30. Paula & Jim & Carla & Bill there with Ted. Came on home after getting our luggage. Looked at mail & paper. To bed at 12:30. Sam really happy to see me.

Wednesday, June 20, 1984: Woke about 8:30, read paper & got up at 9:30. Dressed, emptied suitcases. Made bed, hung up clothes, etc. Had breakfast, swept porch & walk. Picked strawberries & cut off old flowers. Dug a little grass. Had lunch. Paid 2 bills, looked at mail. Misc. jobs. Linda brought car. Had little wind & rain today. Watered strawberries. Had supper, did dishes. Called Siding people & supposed to start job tomorrow. Soaked feet & worked Statesman X-word – hard one. Clipped toenails. To bed at 11:00. Mrs. Dennett had her baby – another little boy.

Thursday, June 21, 1984: Up at 8:00. Dressed, made bed. Decided not to go downtown. Had breakfast, man came from Siding Co. Started to work, then had to leave & never came back. Cleaned off most of stuff on S. flower bed. Trimmed part of spirea bush. Had lunch, looked at mail. Looked at old mail, reconciled bank statements, etc. Went out & used weed eater in back yard, (1 ripe raspberry). Cut dead flowers off iris in A.M. Trimmed some more on roses. Paul’s Scarlet is really beautiful this year. Fixed my supper, did dishes. Soaked feet, read paper. To bed at 12:10.

Friday, June 22, 1984: [calculations written at top of page] Up at 8:00. Dressed, made bed. Washed el. blanket & sweaters. Dried all, put blanket back on bed. Wrote to Jay & sent Ins. form. Looked over Med. Ins. Suppl. & AARP Suppl. Looks as if AARP might be better. Man came to work on house. Got S. side to garage done, also S. ½ on W. side. Really looks nice. Don’t know if he’ll come tomorrow or not. Unlocked gate N. of house. Vacuumed kitchen, started to clean living room. Transplanted some violets. Got supper, did dishes. Soaked my feet, read papers. To bed at 12:30.

Saturday, June 23, 1984: Brian Cain. Up at 8:00. Took shower, washed & put up hair. Dried hair & worked old X-word. Brian Averett came to work on house – got all the way around garage today. Talked to Ted & he thinks it looks real nice. Watered all flowers. Swept front steps, finished clean living room. Watered flowers on patio. Picked strawberries again. Went on juice diet today so no cooking. Read old papers, watched TV. To bed at 11:15. Paula called today – sprained her ankle & Jim not feeling very well.

Sunday, June 24, 1984: Up at 8:30. Got in papers, fixed breakfast. Emptied dishwasher, did dishes. Washed & dressed. Made bed, got in meat, etc. Looked at MW Catalog. Read Trib. Carla came. We worked X-word, then I got dinner. Steak, baked pot., veg., salad, strawberries & ice cream. Fixed boquet & walked over to cemetery. Then walked back to Linda’s. Ted & Matt painting name, etc., on truck. Really looks nice. After we got back, Carla left. I did dishes, soaked feet. Read papers, watched TV. To bed at 11:30.

Monday, June 25, 1984: Woke at 6:15. Read until about 8:00. Dressed, called Linda & went for our walk – about 2 ½ mi. Picked up branches when I got back Finally got hold of Mr. Blank. Had breakfast, Brian Averett worked on house again. All done now except front. Hasn’t put hooks etc., back up yet either. Made bed, took AARP Health Ins. Looked at old mail on table & filed receipts. Had lunch. Pretty hot today, didn’t feel very well this afternoon. Got supper, did dishes. Went out & cut old blossoms off peonies. Took garbage cans to front. Talked to Linda. Dishwasher making lots of noise since I got back. Read paper, watched some TV. To bed at 11:30.

Tuesday, June 26, 1984: Woke at 7:30, up at 8:00. Dressed, called Linda. We met & went for our walk. My toe hurt so bad, we had to quit a little early. Called Mr. Rettig when I got back. Washed & dressed, got ready & went down to Super Save for groc., to Rettig & picked up papers, P.W. Drug – paid bills, got med., card, etc. Got home about 11:30.Put away groc., read old paper. On liquid diet today. Man finished fascia & soffitt job today. Looks real good – glad it’s done. Took short nap, then went out & put up clothes line. Filled hole in corner under gutter. Started to clean off patio. Picked raspberries & strawberries. Watered by drive & strawberry bed. Watched TV & soaked feet. Read paper. Called Paula – both doing pretty good. To bed at 11:30.

Wednesday, June 27, 1984: Woke at 6:30. Got up at 7:15. Dressed, picked strawberries by garage. Called Linda & we went for our walk. When I got home, watered end of S. flower bed. Mrs. Sharp of B[?] Plumbing called, said they have not been paid for work on my irrig. system, wanted copies of my checks so I went with her to bookkeeper & had them made. Washed & dressed, got ready to go. Put up shade on front porch. When I got home, had lunch. Made bed. Linda & I had iced tea. Went out & worked on patio. Washed off table, chairs & umbrella. Swept up leaves, etc. Washed off patio, put up umbrella. Carried spirea clippings to garbage. Got my supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. To bed at 11:45.

Thursday, June 28, 1984: Woke at 6:15. Read till I went back to sleep, woke again at 8:30. Took shower, dressed. Got ready to go downtown, had juice. Linda had to go down in afternoon so I went early. Left by 10:30. Tried to find A-Able Pest Control but couldn’t. Went to Kings, M&W, then Albertsons for groc. Home by 1:00. Really got hot today – 106° in Boise. Put away groc., took little nap. Read old papers. Went over to see Dennetts’ new baby, Daniel. He’s a doll. Went to supper, Jade Garden, with Linda, Ted & kids. To K-Mart afterwards, & Meg got a “Cabbage Patch Preemie.” Home about 8:30. Tried to get hold of Blank & never could reach him. Read paper, watched TV. To bed at 11:30. Wind coming up & cooling off.

Friday, June 29, 1984: Woke at 5:15, couldn’t go back to sleep. Up at 8:00. Called Blank again about work – still more excuses. Dressed, made bed. Cleaned up papers on table. Had breakfast, watered flowers on patio. Cleaned off more on S. flower bed. Worked more cleaning off table. Had lunch. Paid P. W. Bill & Jay’s house payment. Vacuumed living room floor, also kitchen. When man didn’t come from Caldwell Appl., I called & she had forgotten to write it down. He finally came about 5:30. Said dishwasher needs a new impeller & will probably cost about $100.00 to fix frig. Picked strawberries & raspberries. Got supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. To bed at 11:10.

Saturday, June 30, 1984: Had breakfast about 9:00. Woke at 3:10. Read a while – back to sleep until about 7:30. Dressed, called Harvey Blank. Said he would come up today & give me a list of work done – never showed up. Don’t know what to do now. Washed & put up my hair. Dried hair & worked old X-words, read papers. Picked up branches, Milton mowed. Had lunch. Did dishes. Started fixing strawberries. Paula & Jim came. Here about an hour. Finished berries. Had supper, did dishes. Read paper, watched TV. Don’t feel so hot. Napped a little while drying my hair. Also talked to Linda today. To bed at 11:15.

Tuesday, June 1, 1982:  Up at 8:30.  Light sun, warmer.  Dressed, had breakfast.  Washed off patio & crack in cement.  Made bed, got Dad’s lunch.  Washed underwear.  Ordered patterns.  Did dishes.  Dried part of underwear.  Went out & worked on S. flower bed – brought dirt from back to fill in where it leaked into basement.  Hope it is fixed now – don’t want that mess again.  Got supper, did dishes.  Read paper, watched TV.  To bed at 1:30.

Wednesday, June 2, 1982:  Up at 8:30 – telephone woke me.  Cool.  Sunny, warm in late afternoon.  Dressed, Megan came over to watch TV while Linda took Matt to baseball practice, I had breakfast, put up my hair.  Linda came for Meg little after 10:00.  I put up shelf on back of garage door.  Made bed.  Got lunch, then cleared & rinsed dishes.  Hung up part of underwear.  Partially dried rest.  Went out & used rest of sealer on cracks in cement.  Need some more.  Finished little after 4:00 so came in & washed, got ready to go to Meg’s dance recital.  Got early supper, left about 6:15.  It was real nice & Meggie did a good job – was a yellow carnation.  Looked so pretty.  Paula & Carla came, too.  Gave Carla her gift from Roy & Phyllis.  Got home little after 11:00.  I finished clearing dishes, made out checks.  Watched TV.  To bed at 12:30.

Thursday, June 3, 1982:  Up at 8:25.  Sunny, had a light shower earlier.  Washed & dressed, had breakfast.  Made bed.  Made up deposit, etc., hung up rest of underwear.  Got ready to go downtown.  Met Linda & kids at Red Steer & had lunch, then went to banks, 88c store, Super Save, Irrigators, Albertsons, stopped at shop then home.  Rained some again in afternoon.  Got home about 4:15.  Put away groceries.  Got supper, kids didn’t come tonight.  Did dishes, Linda came over & got card table, etc.  Read paper, played sol., watched TV.  To bed at 12:00.

Friday, June 4, 1982:  Up at 9:00.  Sunny, cool.  Dressed, had breakfast, made bed.  Started cleaning living room.  Washed load of work clothes, watered flower bed under tree, also flower bed by drive some more.  Got lunch, cleared dishes.  Vacuumed kitchen, hall, bath.  Finished living room.  Finished up supper.  Did dishes, read papers, watched TV.  Dried work clothes.  Washed load of colored clothes, dried part.  To bed at 12:45.

Saturday, June 5, 1982:  Up at 8:15.  Ted knocked & woke me.  Sunny, cold.  Had him look at TV fuse – said too it was blown.  Finally had to melt solder to get it out.  Dad went down and got some new ones and we put one in.  TV works fine – guess that’s all it was.  So cold & windy, didn’t feel like doing anything outside so went down & sewed.  Fixed all of Dad’s work clothes – about 5 prs. of pants & cut off sleeves & turned collar on one shirt.  Don’t know if it will ever get warm enough to wear short sleeved shirts.  Washed & dried several loads of clothes.  Made bed.  Fixed supper, did dishes.  Read papers, watched TV.  To bed at 12:30.

Sunday, June 6, 1982:  Up at 8:30.  Sunny, cold, little warmer than yesterday.  Fixed breakfast, cleared table.  Took shower, washed & put up hair.  Dried hair & worked x-word.  Carla came when I was nearly done.  Dad mowing lawn so I went out & helped.  When we finished I went in & started dinner.  Carla wanted to go to Shari’s later so ate about 4:00.  Dried clothes in washer.  After she left I did dishes.  Read paper, watched TV.  To bed at 1:00.  Made out order from AVON for Carla’s clothes.  Paul called last night & they will be in Ill. later in June so want us to come, too.  (June 19 Dorrie’s class reunion)

Monday, June 7, 1982:  Up at 9:15.  Sunny, cold.  Dressed, had breakfast.  Started paying bills and wrote about Ins. on Jay’s house.  Got lunch, did dishes  & ran dishwasher.  Finished paying bills, paid 2^nd installment of taxes and 2^nd Q. Income Tax Est.  Made bed.  Called Global Travel & guess we can get on that United travel special – $299 ea. so will try for reservations tomorrow.  Planted glad bulbs in peony bed.  Got supper, did dishes, read paper, watched TV.  To bed at 12:50.

Tuesday, June 8, 1982:  Up at 8:30.  Sunny, cool.  Dressed, had breakfast.  Typed up paper for Dad.  Went out & got ready to irrigate & no water again!  Jan said she called & pumps were out.  Came back in & started working on books.  Got lunch.  Cleared table & then finished up books. (Called in A.M. & got our reservations for Illinois).  Totals on books came out right first time.  Boy, was I glad!  Went outside & worked a little, then got the water so irrigated.  Nearly finished when the water went out again.  Didn’t quite get the back all wet.  Got supper, did dishes, (made bed).  Read papers, watched TV.  To bed at 1:30.

Wednesday, June 9, 1982:  Up at 8:45.  Sunny, cool.  Washed & dressed.  Had breakfast, made bed.  Put up hair.  Talked to Linda.  Watered rose bush.  Got lunch, did dishes.  Cut off more of shrubs in back.  Shortened blue & lt. green pants for Dad so he could try them on.  Sewed hem in Carla’s new red pants.  Got F.T.D. ready – Dad took stuff to bookkeeper.  Got supper.  Got ready & went to Matt’s ball game.  He pitched most of game; got beat but was a good game.  Really enjoyed it.  Did dishes when we got home, made up deposits, got Dad’s pants all ready to sew, read paper, watched TV.  To bed at 1:35.  Linda & Meg came over to do checks.  Showed her how to water S. flower bed.

Friday, June 11, 1982:  ROY & PHYLLIS’ ANNIV.  Up at 8:00.  Sunny, warmer.  Hot & muggy in afternoon.  Dressed, made bed.  Had breakfast.  Set out tomato plants.  Watered flower bed a little.  Moved a few snapdragons.  Went down & started sewing, hemmed 2 pr. Dad’s pants, sewed buttonhole in Carla’s new wine pants.  Came up & got lunch.  Cleared table & rinsed dishes.  Fixed strawberries for supper, put on meat to cook.  Talked to Linda.  Went back down & fixed some more blouses, etc.  Pressed pants & blouses.  Clouded over in P.M.  Finished up supper, did dishes, read paper.  Watched TV.  To bed at 12:30.  Mrs. Dennett came over & asked if they could mow our lawn; said they would do it from now on – would give them exercise and service for the church.  Pretty nice.  Pd. Sales Tax & S.W.T.

Saturday, June 12, 1982:  Up at 8:30.  Cloudy, cooler.  Shower during nite.  Dressed, had breakfast.  Made bed, started packing Dad’s clothes.  Got down big suitcase & started packing mine.  Talked to Linda, called Marilyn.  Said she’d be at airport in Denver, also is going to Seattle next week but driving straight through.  Got things ready to go.  Watered flower bed under tree.  Got supper, did dishes.  Watched TV.  Washed up all clothes we needed for trip.  Started sewing on Meg’s dress & got it nearly finished.  To bed at 12:30.  Carla called & she & Bill coming for breakfast as have to go to family reunion at Nampa in P.M.

Sunday, June 13, 1982:  Mama passed away today in 1964.  Up at 8:30.  Sunny, cool.  Washed & dressed, made bed.  Vacuumed kitchen, bath, dining room.  Started breakfast.  Kids came about 10:00 and we ate.  Went out & looked at flowers.  Visited and then they left about 1:00.  I did dishes, ran dishwasher.  Did more packing.  Washed & put up hair.  Got supper, did dishes.  Had Linda & Meg come over & try on her dress, fits real cute.  Started sewing on Linda’s, too.  Finished Meg’s.  Watched TV.  To bed about 12:30.

Monday, June 14, 1982:  Leave for Illinois.  Tornado watch in Denver until 7:00 P.M.  Up at 8:00.  Sunny, cool.  Took shower, dressed.  Had breakfast, made bed.  Did dishes, ran dishwasher. Finished packing & getting ready to go.  Sewed a little on Linda’s dress.  She came about 12:30.  Dad & I ate a little lunch, then left for Boise.  Picked up Matt at ball practice.  Got to Boise at about 1:35.  Paula was there and was the biggest line at ticket counters I ever saw – clear across the lobby and around behind the auto rental desk.  At 2:15 was still at desk getting checked in.  Carla came & went on upstairs & we couldn’t find her – Dad real worried.  Paula finally found her.  Were about ½ hr. late leaving.  Little bumpy flight to Denver.  Marilyn, Terry & little John were at Airport.  Had a nice visit.  Late about ½ hr. leaving Denver, also, and really had a rough flight to Chi.  Couldn’t serve dinner until 45 min. before arr.  About 12 min. late.  Ralph & Rosie met us.  Got home about 1:30.  To bed at 3:30.

Tuesday, June 15, 1982:  Had tornado watch until 8:00 P.M.  Ralph’s birthday today.  Up at 8:00.  Watch had stopped.  Windy.  Sunny, clouded up in evening – rained pretty hard.  Had breakfast.  Visited w/Rosie.  Got washed & dressed.  Made bed.  Wrote notes to Jays & Paulas & mailed their cards.  Had lunch.  Hung up clothes.  Went up town.  To Leona’s for supper.  Marie was there, too, and Sams and Donna, Diane and Jan, and then Karen & Kathy and Clyde came, too.  Got home and to bed about 12:00.

Wednesday, June 16, 1982:  Up at 9:30.  Cloudy, cool.  Nice all day.  Had breakfast, washed & dressed.  Rosie at shop.  Leona came & later Marie.  Were here for dinner.  Afterwards went to see Marie’s new apartment & saw Aunt Lena’s (94).  Think she knew me.  Came back home & helped clear up kitchen.  Arlene came in afternoon.  Had supper.  Marie, Duane & Arlene stopped a while after church.  To bed at 12:00.  (Al supposed to have surgery today.)

Thursday, June 17, 1982:  JAY & NANCY – PAULA & JIM ANNIV. 15 yr.  Up at 9:00.  Sunny, cool.  Phone woke me at 8:00 but I went back to sleep.  Had coffee & juice.  Washed & dressed.  Put up my hair.  Had lunch.  Dried hair, took nap.  Read old Sunday papers.  Got ready & went to Sam & Norma’s for supper.  Leona was there, too, and Clyde was invited but didn’t come.  Carol & kids came and Sammy & Mary Lynn.  Home about 10:30 & went to bed at 11:30.  Didn’t sleep too well.

Friday, June 18, 1982:  MOM & DAD’S ANNIV. – 1913.  Up at 9:00.  Cloudy again.  Sunny off & on.  Took shower, dressed, had coffee & juice.  Made bed.  Had lunch.  Cleared table, Rosie had hair appt.  Sat down to read paper & fell asleep.  Dozed most of afternoon.  Got out embroidery, separated & counted floss.  Got ready & went out to Marie’s for supper.  Bob & Phyllis came for a while.  Came home & to bed about 11:00.  Rained real hard just as we were going to bed.

Saturday, June 19, 1982:  Up at 8:45.  Cloudy, cool.  Had breakfast, washed & dressed, made bed.  Got ready & went to sale in Forrest (Eleanor’s folks).  Saw a few people I knew.  Got home about 2:30.  Had lunch.  Mark & Mary Jo came in.  Linda & kids got home so Ralph & Rosie went down a while.  Paul called & he and Dorrie’s stepfather came down.  Kids were so excited to see him.  Were all here for supper then.  Afterwards Leona & Sam & Norma came in.  They left about 10:00.  To bed at 1:30.

Sunday, June 20, 1982:  Up at 9:00.  Cloudy, cool.  Rained a little, then cleared off & got windy.  Dressed, had breakfast.  Later washed, made beds, stripped ours.  Read papers, worked on embroidery.  Rosie went over to see her Father & sister for a while.  Mary Jo called and wanted us to come out there for supper.  Had Harold Hoob & his wife, Sherri  & family, Paula, Ralph & Rosie, Jerry, Linda & kids & us out at their cabin.  Had a nice time and good dinner.  Mark set off fireworks in evening.  Saw Sherri’s new baby – she’s a doll.  I held her & put her to sleep. (8 weeks old).  To bed about 11:30.

Monday, June 21, 1982:  Up at 8:30.  Sunny, cool.  Washed & put up my hair, took shower.  Dressed, had breakfast, made bed.  Had lunch.  Dorrie came so sat & visited.  Cleared dinner table, then she left.  Looked at S.R. sale catalog.  Had supper.  Went down  & got radishes and spinach.  Rosie ran dishwasher & we fixed radishes, then cleaned spinach for salad.  To bed at 11:15.  Clyde was in and Linda stopped by a little bit.

Tuesday, June 22, 1982:  Up at 8:30.  Sunny, cool.  Washed & dressed.  Made bed.  Had breakfast.  Made dressing for salad.  Had lunch.  Cleared table.  Cleaned chicken for picnic.  Got ready.  Embroidered a little.  Went out to Strawn for picnic.  Lots of food and had a real nice time.  Had packed suitcases to go to Leona’s but went back to Ralph’s a while.  Pauls, and Mark & Mary Jo were there.  Ralph took us down to Leona’s then.  To bed about 1:30.

Wednesday, June 23, 1982:  Up at 8:00.  Sunny, cool.  Washed & dressed.  Made bed.  Got suitcases ready again.  Had breakfast with Leona – juice, pancakes, sausages, rolls, & coffee.  Paul & Dorrie there, too.  Afterwards they all left & Leona & I did dishes.  Then she brought me over to Rosie’s but guys had already left for fishing.  We got ready and left for Bloomington.  Shopped at K-Mart.  Got some clothes & toys for kids, something for Jan & Dennetts, blouses for Linda & myself.  After shopping, went to Ronnie & Bridget’s.  She’s real nice.  Has 3 children & they are nice kids, too.  Went to Perkins for supper, then home.  Worked on embroidery & Rosie washed some dishes.  Started watching TV & didn’t go to bed until 2:45.  Saw Johnny Carson, then Dog Day Afternoon & Private Benjamin – Wow!

Thursday, June 24, 1982:  Terrible fire N. of Forrest last night.  Harold Harms, his wife & her two sisters died in fire.  Sunny, little warmer.  Seemed pretty warm in afternoon.  Made bed, had breakfast.  Took shower, washed & put up hair.  Rosie had to go to shop a while.  I ran el. broom in kitchen.  Had lunch.  Rosie went to order flowers, etc., and I ran el. broom in living room, dining room and hall.  Watched TV & worked on embroidery.  Kathryn Slagle Kaisner came a while.  Rosie came back & we went up to Waltons a while.  Got some clothes for Meg.  Marie called & she & Leona wanted to take me out to supper (Rosie going to the Club) so went to West ___ west of town.  Then to Dottie’s; she wasn’t home so went to Sherry’s & she came there then, & so got to see her.  When we got back Joe & Ralph were home & Rosie soon came.  Went to bed about 10:30.

Friday, June 25, 1982:  Up at 7:45.  Clouds, warm.  Made bed, had breakfast.  Paul called & said they decided not to go to Alice’s so we called Leona but said she was kind of tired so just Ralph, Rosie, Dad & I went.  I washed & dressed, made rest of beds & we left about 10:45.  Ate at Sheldon (?).  Got to Al & Alice’s about 2:30.  He’s doing pretty good.  Sat around & visited.  Alice fixed supper.  Had a couple of drinks.  Jim, Patty & kids came – Nate & Missy.  They are really cute.  Ate supper & visited again.  Left for home about 9:45.  Really rained on us about Piper City.  Got home about 1:30.

Saturday, June 26, 1982:  Up at 8:45.  Cloudy, cooler.  Made bed, had breakfast.  Washed & dressed, put up hair.  Dried hair & worked on embroidery.  In afternoon went out to Margie’s, then in to (had lunch) see Jean.  Leona came & went along with us.  Had supper – Clyde & Gerry & Linda & girls, also Laurie, were here.  After supper did dishes.  Leona came.  Everyone went home early & we went to bed at 11:00.  Kind of tired.  Got pretty hot & muggy in afternoon.

Sunday, June 27, 1982:  Up at 9:00.  Cloudy, cooler.  Very humid.  Watched Columbia launch.  Had breakfast.  Made bed.  Washed & dressed.  Read paper.  Went up to Open House but such a crowd, decided not to stay.  Jerry & 3 little girls came down.  I worked x-word & another puzzle.  Had supper, cleared table.  Clyde came, then Marlene, Lary, Emma Lou & Buzz.  Later Marie, Duane & Arlene & boys, Paul and then Mark, Mary Jo and little ones.  Went to bed about 11:30.

Monday, June 28, 1982:  Up at 8:15.  Cloudy, humid.  Made bed, had breakfast.  Washed & dressed.  Rosie has the 3 little girls again.  Will have them all week.  Got ready & Rosie took me down to Leona’s about 11:30.  Marie & Sams were there, too; had a good lunch.  Afterwards, Kay & Todd came, then Wilma and Norval Knapp.  After they left, we went down to see Joe & Thelma Slagel.  Stopped at Sohns on the way home but they weren’t home.  Marie took me back to Rosie and I packed suitcases.  Had supper.  Clyde was here & also Margie, Martin & kids.  After supper Leona came, also Marie, Sam & Norma and Kathy & her husband & 2 kids.  Brian and Kiley.  After everyone left we went to bed about 11:45.

Tuesday, June 29, 1982:  BACK to IDAHO.  Woke at 6:30 – couldn’t go back to sleep so got up about 7:20.  Lt. clouds, cool.  Had breakfast, made bed.  Took shower, dressed.  Got rest of suitcases ready.  Left for Chicago about 10:30.  Rained on way up.  Stopped at Denneys for dinner.  Got our suitcases checked in & seats assigned at Airport.  Had a drink, then went down to wait for boarding.  About 5 min. late leaving – had a beautiful flight.  Linda, Megan, Paula, Carla & Bill were there to meet us.  Visited a little while, then got suitcases and came home.  Good to get home again.  Everything looked real good.  Looked through mail.  Watched TV.  Read paper.  To bed at 12:45.

Wednesday, June 30, 1982:  Sammy’s Birthday.  Up at 8:30.  Had breakfast, made bed.  Washed & put up hair.  Unpacked several suitcases.  Got Dad’s lunch.  Worked at various jobs all day:  Entered ROAs in book.  Got supper, did dishes.  Linda & Meg came over to make out checks.  I got deposit ready.  Got to feeling sick.  Finally went to bed about 12:30.  Woke up about 2:30 & was sick.  Finally threw up & had diarrhea.
